In this paper, a novel 10㎸, 50A, 50㎑ pulsed power supply based on IGBT stacks is proposed. Proposed scheme consists of series connected 12 IGBT to generate maximum 10㎸ output pulse and 10㎾ full bridge phase-shifted zero voltage switching converter to charge DC capacitor voltage. Each IGBTs are sustain the 830V of capacitor voltage at turn off interval. By turn on the each IGBT for the same time it gives the path for the series connection of charged capacitor. From above turn on and off procedure, high voltage repetitive pulse is applied to the load. The synchronization of gating signal is important of series operation of IGBTs. For gating signal synchronization, specially designed gate power circuit using full bridge inverter and pulse transformer is developed to generate IGBT gating signal.

This paper deals with the water treatment of the leachate from sewage filled ground by a pulsed power technology. Leachate from sewage filled ground should be treated below regulation level of COD in order to prevent environmental pollution and usually treated by a chemical method. Among the pollutants mixed in the leachate, chemical compounds of benzene series are known to be difficult to break down, and need to use high cost treat methods. The treatment of the benzene compounds by high power pulsed power supply was studied. For the high-rate, cost-effective treatment of leachate, pulsed power supply should have high repetition rates and require switching devices of long lifetime. In order to meet the demands of the above condition, pulsed power generator based on semiconductor switches using IGBTs as primary switches were developed. The experimental results verified that benzene compounds can be treated effectively by high voltage electric pulses, and this fact indicates that the treatment method by pulsed power source is a promising substitute.

This paper deals with the design and experiment of 85㎾(17㎸, 5A) high voltage power supply for 60㎾ industrial magnetron. The power supply was designed based on the series resonant converter discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) which has the current source characteristic and high efficiency. In addition, inevitable leakage inductance of high voltage transformer can be used as resonant inductance. The basic analysis of full-bridge series resonant converter with transformer is given and the relationships between resonant tank parameters and input, output specification was derived. Simulation and experiment was done with variable switching frequency and their results verify the theoretical analysis.

This paper describes the gas treatment system for odor reduction by pulsed power supply which was made based on semiconductor switches. Ammonia and amine are main ingredients of odor in the air and it is very difficult to eliminate or reduce. The proposed system gives the effective way to reduce the stinky elements by high repetitive and high voltage pulse. It is applied to the discharging pipe to generate the plasma and air including stinky elements flow through it with specific velocity. As a result, ammonia and amine was reduced upto 50%. The overall structure of gas treatment system and experimental results with waveform was given.

This paper introduces the test a rapid pulsed power charging system for pulsed power application. The charger is designed based on three-phase series resonant inverter followed by air cooled step-up transformers. It has many advantages of lower weight, small size and high efficiency compared with large bulky traditional pulse power charging system. To apply 150kJ pulsed power system, detail test was carried out at various condition and its results shows 90% efficiency at full load condition. And additional experiments such as short, open, and self discharging during charging status are performed to verify reliable operation at abnormal condition and it was confirmed that developed capacitor charger showed very reliable operation all over the tests.

This paper describes the development of the rapid battery charger for lead-acid battery. Due to heat which is caused by increased internal resistance during charging, it is difficult to increase charging current for the lead-acid battery. In this paper, the rapid charging algorithm which apply short discharging pulse current during charging procedure is developed and it makes the ion layer, which is generated during charging time, disappeared into electrolyte. The prototype battery charger based on resonant converter is developed for 48V battery charger and test procedure is introduced.
