In childhood systemic lupus erythematosus patients, renal involvement is closely related to mortality and morbidity of the disease. Therefore early diagnosis and treatment are essential to improving prognosis. We saw a child who had hematuria, albuminuria, anorexia, fatigue, and light hyper sensitiveness. He was diagnosed as lupus nephritis (WHO Class II+IV) and treated with ACE inhibitor and steroid therapy for 12 months. However, clinical improvement was not shown. So we treated him with herbal formula (Jasinwhalhyul-tang: Zishenhuoxue-tang) and steroid therapy. After 17 months of treatment, hematuria disappeared and clinical symptoms and albuminuria had improved significantly.
패장초(敗醬草)가 Cationic Bovine Serum Albumin 투여로 유발된 Membranous Nephropathy Mouse Model에 미치는 영향

Objective : Membranous nephropathy (MN) is one of the most commonest forms of glomerular disease in man and the most frequent cause of the adult idiopathic nephrotic syndrome. Some investigators recommend no treatment, while others propose aggressive therapy, including prednisolone plus an immunosupressant such as chlorambucil or cyclophosphamide. But a more effective way to treat MN is not defined yet. This study was to evaluate the effects of Patriniae Radix extract (PRE) on the MN induced by cBSA in mice. Methods : Mice were divided into 4 groups. The first group (normal) was injected with saline. The second group (control) was treated with cBSA (10 mg/kg i.p) only. The third group, named PRE-2S0, was treated with cBSA (10 mg/kg i.p) and PRE (250 mg/kg, p.o). The fourth group, PRE-500, was treated with cBSA (10mg/kg i.p) and PRE (500mg/kg, p.o). After cBSA and PRE treatment for 4 weeks, we measured change of body weight, 24hrs proteinuria, serum albumin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, BUN, creatinine, IgG, IgA, IgM, $TNF-\alpha$, $IL-1\beta$, and $IFN-\gamma$ levels and the mRNA expression of $IFN-\gamma$, IL-6, and IL-10. The morphologic changes of renal glomeruli were also observed with a light microscope and an electron microscope. Results : The levels of 24 hrs proteinuria and serum triglyceride. BUN. IgG. $TNF-\alpha$, and $IL-1\beta$ significantly decreased in both PRE groups, while the level of serum albumin significantly increased in both PRE groups. The mRNA expression of IL-10 in splenocytes considerably increased in both PRE groups. The mRNA expression of $IFN-\gamma$ and IL-6 in splenocytes considerably increased in both PRE group. In histological findings of kidney tissue, thickening of GBM decreased in both PRE groups. Conclusions : The present study suggests that PRE is effective when treating mice with MN induced by cBSA. More clinical data and studies are to be done for efficient application.
현삼갑항방(玄參甲亢方)이 Sodium Levothyroxine 투여로 유발된 백서의 갑상선중독증에 미치는 영향

Objective : This study was to elucidate the effects of Hyunsamkabhangbang (HSK) on the hyperthyroidism induced by sodium levothyroxine. Method : Sprague-Dawley rats were separated into five groups. Except the normal group, the other four groups were treated with sodium levothyroxine 160${\mu}g/kg/day$ for 5 days by oral administration. Among the four groups, all except one (as control) were treated with various concentrations of HSK (0.5, 1.0, 2.0 g/kg/days) for 3 days separately. T3-uptake, T3, T4, TSH, total cholesterol, free fatty acid, ${\beta}$-lipoprotein, glucose, ALP, AST, ALT change in the serum and body weight of rats were measured after medication of solid extract of HSK. Results : HSK decreased significantly serum T3, T4, T3-uptake, ALP, free fatty acid and glucose level in a dose-dependent manner compared with control. HSK increased significantly serum TSH and total cholesterol level and body weight in a dose-dependent manner compared with control. HSK also increased serum ${\beta}$-lipoprotein level compared with control, but not statistically meaningfully. HSK increased significantly serum AST and ALT level compared with control, but relationship to hyperthyroidism is not found. Conclusions : From these results, it could be concluded that HSK lowers excess thyroid hormone and increased metabolism, resulting in improvement of hyperthyroid state.

Research on display devices capable of implementing high-resolution images is actively underway, leading to increased interest in the production of accessible high-resolution image content. Traditional interpolation algorithms such as Bilinear and Bicubic Interpolation, however, result in a loss of sharpness at the edges of objects, leading to a blurring effect. To address these issues, we employ the Super-Resolution Convolutional Neural Network (SRCNN), which enhances sharpness and is well-suited for generating high-resolution images. As part of our SRCNN-based image data augmentation techniques, we introduce Affine Transformations and Noise Injection methods, specifically Salt and Pepper Noise. These data augmentation methods aim to train the model on diverse image data, incorporating variations in angles and sizes, and increasing data diversity by introducing white or black pixels to the images. We advocate for an improved dataset training approach, enhancing the generalization capability of the existing SRCNN learning model.
몰약이 Monosodium Urate로 유발된 백서의 통풍에 미치는 영향

Objective : To identify the inhibitory effects of Commiphora Myrrha (CM) on monosodium urate (MSU)-induced gout model in rats. Materials and Methods: After pretreatment with CM-I (125mg/kg) or CM-II (50mg/kg) for 7 days followed by ones injection of MSU solution. the various indicators related to gout were measured on hematological and serum level including joint inflammation, Also, it was studied whether FBM directly inhibits the activity of xanthine oxidase in vitro. Results : As a result of this study, CM didn't show cytotoxicity in Jurkat cells, but it showed significant inhibition of activity of xanthine oxidase in vitro. CM slightly inhibited joint inflammation induced by MSU though not with statistical significance. CM partially decreased MSU-induced albumin, globulin, AST, ALT, BUN, creatinine. WBC, platelet count and ESR level and significantly decreased MSU-induced uric acid in serum. Conclusion : These results suggest that CM has therapeutic effects that are applicable to prevention and treatment of gout, and should be further investigated.
조각자가 만성 비세균성 전립선염 Rat 모델에서 혈액 및 세포조직의 변화에 미치는 영향

Objective : Although chronic non-bacterial prostatitis is a common disease, it is very difficult to treat effectively. GLS (Gleditsiae Spina) has traditionally been used in treatment of urinary tract inflammation and voiding disturbance. In this study, we investigated the therapeutic effects and action mechanism of GLS in the rat model of non-bacterial prostatitis induced by castration and testosterone treatment. Method : We observed four experimental objects of normal group, control group, testosterone group, and GLS group. Rats were treated with 17$\beta$-estradiol after castration for induction of experimental non-bacteral prostatitis, which is similar to human chronic prostatitis in histophatological profiles. GLS and testosterone were administered as an experimental specimen and a positive control, respectively. The prostates were evaluated by histopahological parameters including the epithelial score and epithelio-stromal ratio for glandular damage. Also, the prostates were observed by hematological alterations of WBC, RBC, hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelet. Results : While prostates of control rats revealed severe acinar gland atrophy and stromal proliferation, the rats treated with GLS showed a diminished range of tissue damage. Epithelial score was improved in GLS over that of the control. The epithelial-stromal ratio was lower in GLS when compared to that of the control. Conclusion : These findings suggest that GLS may protect the glandular epithelial cells. We concluded that GLS could be a useful remedy agent for treating chronic non-bacterial prostatitis.
소평탕(消平湯)이 Streptozotocin으로 유발된 당뇨쥐의 혈당 및 항산화 효소 활성에 미치는 영향

Objective : This study wascarried out to understand the effect of Sopyung-tang (SPT) on blood glucose & antioxidant enzyme activities in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Methods : SD rats were separated into three groups, each with 20 rats. Except the normal group, the other two groups were intra-peritoneally injected with streptozotocin 6mg/kg. The experimental group was treated with SPT extract 500mgkg/day for 4 weeks. The normal and control groups were treated with saline 500mg/kg/day for 4 weeks. Changes of plasma glucose level and body weight were observed. After4 weeks, liver and kidney weight, antioxidant enzyme activities, and survival rate were observed with histological changes on liver, kidney and pancreas. Results : In the experimental group, body weight and survival rate increased, while plasma glucose level decreased significantly. Liver and kidney weight, XOD activity decreased in the experimental group compared to the control. GSH-px and CAT activities andinsulin-immunoreactive granules in ${\beta}-cells$ increased significantly in the experimental group compared to the control. Conclusions : This study shows that SPT might be effective for treatment of diabetes and its complications, as well as reduction of oxidative stress.
진무탕(眞武湯)이 백서의 갑상선기능저하증에 미치는 영향

Objectives : This study was done to investigate the effects of JMT on hypothyroidism in rats. Materials and Methods : After pretreatment with 50mg/kg thiouracil for 30 days, the experimental group was treated with 0.56g/kg JMT orally and the control group was treated with 0.56g/kg of normal saline instead for 20 days. The various indicators related to hypothyroidism were measured, such as T3-uptake content, T3 content, T4 content, TSH content, hematological values, enzyme activity, total cholesterol content, Na+ content change in the serum and body weight of rats induced by thiouracil. Results : The JMT-treated group showed significant increase in comparison with the control group in serum T3-uptake and T4 content. The JMT-treated group also showed significant decrease in comparison with the control group in serum TSH content. However, the JMT-treated group did not show significant increase in comparison with the control group in serum T3 content. The JMT-treated group showed significant increase in comparison with the control group in serum RBC. The JMT-treated group showed significant decrease in comparison with the control group in serum CPK, ALP, LDH content and serum total cholesterol content. The JMT-treated group did not show significant increase in comparison with the control group in serum Na+ content. The JMT-treated group showed significant decrease in comparison with the control group in body weight. Conclusions : These results suggest that JMT is useful in treatment of hypothyroidism.
