Concrete containing lightly burnt MgO has long term expansibility. It also could compensate for the thermal shrinkage of mass concrete, because the hydration of MgO proceeds at a slow pace to long-term age. Thus, lightly burnt MgO has been applied to the construction of mass concrete such as dams. Recently, the expansion characteristics of MgO concrete with fly ash that could be applied to mass concrete for the reduction of hydration heat have been studied and however, limited studies on its durability. This study investigates the long-term durability characteristics of fly ash concrete with lightly burnt MgO. The durability tests on carbonation, freezing-thawing, diffusion of chloride, and resistance to sulfate attack were carried out for MgO concrete with curing for 360 days in submerged condition with different temperature of 20 and $50^{\circ}C$. The results reveal that MgO concrete shows a greater resistance of carbonation, diffusion of chloride, and resistance to sulfate attack. On the other hand the resistance of freezing-thawing was little influenced by MgO powder.

Recently, a variety of researches has been carried out to estimate the durability of concrete structures. To obtain a more controlled durability and long-term performance of concrete structures under chloride attack environments several design methods have been proposed. In this paper, deterministic design method, stochastic design method, and lifetime safety factor method are explored and compared. The analysis example for marine structure shows that results shows much difference in service life according to analysis method. To ensure the safety, material properties have to be carefully selected, and there must be sufficient relevant data in order to use stochastic design method correctly.
내구수명 100년 확보를 위한 해양환경 콘크리트의 배합 특성 연구

This study examins the some experimental works to distinguish the characteristics of concrete mixtures using blended cement; slag cement and ternary cement. In this study, 40%, 50% and 60% replacement ratio of blast furnace slag(BSF) to OPC are used, also 35:45:20, 30:35:35, 30:40:30 and 35:40:25 ratio of OPC:BSF:FA are used. The characteristics tests include slump, air content, compressive strength and thermal properties of concrete. The compressive strength tests are executed at the age of 3, 7, 28, 56, and 91 days. The coefficient of chloride diffusion is determined by NT Build 492 method. The purpose of this study is to shows the characteristics of concrete mixtures according to the type of blended cement. Finally the best mixing design is adapted to the construction site of S-project. Also, this study results can be usefully applied to the other project.
