Primary production of phrtoplankton was investigated in Naktong estuarine ecosystem monthly from October 1991 to September 1992 using carbon-14 uptake method. In spite of large spatial and temporal variation, there was a primary peak of net phytoplankton production in spring through early summer. The productivity was minimum of 543mg C·m^-2.day^-1 in September and maximum of 4112mg C·m^-2·day^-1 in April. The seasonal changes in factors regulating production in Naktong estuarine area were proposed based on the annual patterns of physical variables and nutrient concentrations. The late spring and early summer flowering of biomass and net production of phytoplankton was explained as the result of the balance between light and temperature. The high level of Production terminated in summer as the result of water clarity. Nutrient limitation may not be important, because of high nutrient level year around in this eutrophicated estuarine area.

Prediction enhancement of the J-lead interconnection reliability of land grid array sockets
2015 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.29 No.5
The solder joint is a key component in land grid array (LGA) sockets. A simplified solder joint has been widely used in finite elementmodel (FEM) computations because the J-lead interconnection solder joint is relatively complex. Therefore, there are discrepancies betweenthe physical phenomenon and FEM simulations. In this study, an alternative method to simulate the J-lead interconnection solderjoint through an interface program using surface evolver software is presented. Simulations of the J-lead interconnection solder joint wereimproved to reduce the mismatch between the actual physical shape and the simplified finite element models that are typically used topredict component reliability. To perform these simulations, an interface program capable of simulating solder interconnections fortwelve different pad–solder combinations was developed. Predictions of J-lead interconnection solder joints were carried out using theinterface program. Geometric comparisons between experimental data and predictions showed good agreement, with the exception ofwetting height. To evaluate the prediction accuracy of the simulated J-lead solder joints, FEM analysis was performed for the static loadand the thermal cycle.`
Photoperiodic effects on gametogenesis in Laminaria saccharina L.(Lamour.) (Phaeophyta)
Vol.7 No.1
Photoperiod effects on induction of gametogenesis in Laminaria saccharina L. (Lamour.) were investigated in laboratory experiments where daily quantum dose were held fixed. Genuine photoperiodic effects on the size of female primary cells, length of female gametophytic filaments and reproductive success of gametophytes were found with meiospores collected in autumn, winter and spring. The developmental stages, involving cell devision, responded to increased daylengths. There was no evidence for photoperiod-related effects in germination success or fecundity. Daylength responses of female gametophytes differed with respect to seasonal daylength changes.
