For the design of the shortened ED(Expansion Deflection) nozzle, a numerical study of ED nozzle was performed according to the length reduction methods. The first method is to reduce the extension length of the ED nozzle with 80% bell nozzle length by 10%, 20% and 30%. The second method is to shorten the extension length by increasing the nozzle throat angle. Due to the increase in the curvature of the contour as the length shortened, the decrease in the nozzle exit velocity between the ED nozzle with 80% bell nozzle length and the ED nozzle in the first method was reduced, and the thrust become similar. The ED nozzle of the second method increased the thrust by increasing the nozzle exit velocity compared to the ED nozzle with 80% bell nozzle length.

“Hwaryu( )”, found among the big data of Korean-Chinese correspondences, is small data but it is a meaningful keyword that can identify social and psychological sentiments of the period. Hwaryu was a word that referred to licensed quarters of the Japanese colonial period and ‘Hwaryu books’ mentioned in Korean Chinese correspondences for product requests are assumed to be gamuak textbooks used in in the past in gisaeng call-offices. Gisaeng call-offices were educational institutions that professionally and systematically taught traditional dance, folk songs, lyrics, and sijo. Before liberation, gisaengs were strongly viewed as prostitutes and harlots and they were often declared the principal offenders of moral corruption. From the early days of its establishment, China abolished the prostitution system along with polygamy, human trafficking, licensed and unlicensed prostitution, and gisaeng businesses. Amidst this, it strived to cultivate upcoming generations through entertainers who were formerly from gisaeng call-offices. Gisaengs became the principal transmitters of Korean traditional cultural art but they were also silenced because of their disreputable pasts. The extremely limitedly appearance of the keyword ‘hwaryu’ in correspondences of the Korean-Chinese is an effect of the socialistic remodeling pursued by the Chinese government and a sign of suppression.

Background: Metformin is an effective oral antihyperglycaemic agent for type 2 diabetes mellitus, with a variety of metabolic effects. In addition to controlling blood glucose level, it has been appeared to decrease the long-period complications of diabetes, including macrovascular disease. Few reports have addressed the metabolite profiling of metformin. The study was to evaluate if targeted metabolic profiling approach is sensitive enough to predict the therapeutic effects of metformin after a single oral dose. Methods: A randomized, open-label, single-dose study was conducted in twenty eight healthy Korean male volunteers. To determine the concentrations of endogenous metabolites in their pre-dose and post-dose plasma samples, blood samples were collected before and at 2 and 6 h after a single oral dose of 500 mg metformin. Both Modular P/Modular D analyzer and ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS)-based metabolic profiling was performed. Results: We quantified pre-dose and post-dose creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), lactic acid, 7 amino acids (lysine, glutamic acid, alanine, valine, leucine, phenylalanine, tryptophan), and 5 lysophosphatidylcholines (14:0, 16:0, 17:0, 18:0, and 18:1) using autoanalyser and UPLC-MS/MS. The postdose levels of alanine, lactic acid, glutamic acid, lysine, valine, leucine, phenylalanine, tryptophan, and lysoPC (18:1) were slightly decreased with statistical significance, but there is no clinical significance. Conclusion: In order to explore the potential endogenous metabolites associated with the therapeutic effects of metformin, further study including non-targeted (global) metabolite profiling is needed.
