Dependence of the Diode Characteristics of n-ZnO/p-Si (111) on the Si Substrate Doping

We report on the dependence of the diode characteristics of n-ZnO on p-type Si (111) on the dopant concentration in the Si (111) substrate. Silicon substrates were used with a high resistivity (p) (~1 −Ω 20·cm) and a low resistivity (p+) ~0.004 − 0.0055 Ω·cm). Zinc-oxide films were deposited using a radio-frequency sputtering system on the p and p+-Si (111) substrates at room temperature. The films were subsequently annealed at 800 ℃ in air and in N2 in a horizontal thermal furnace to change the electron carrier concentration. By investigating the current and the voltage characteristics of the diodes, we discovered that the diode characteristics depended on the carrier concentration. We discuss the relationship between the carrier concentration and the emission properties of n-ZnO/p-Si diodes. The devices exhibited excellent rectification behavior and diode characteristics, having a turn-on voltage of about 2.3 − 2.7 V and a series resistance between 215 and 330 Ω . The diode characteristics were modified by thermal annealing in an ambient, and n-ZnO/p+-Si (111) heterojunction diodes emitted yellowish light at voltages over 10 V.
Characteristics of ZnO Films Deposited on Plastic Substrates at Various RF Sputtering Powers

Zinc-oxide (ZnO) films were deposited on polycarbonate (PC) and polyethersulfhone (PES) substrates by RF sputtering at room temperature. We investigated the effect of sputtering power (range: 100–200 W) on the structural, optical, and electrical properties of the deposited ZnO films. X-ray diffraction measurements revealed that the ZnO films deposited on both substrate types had a (002) preferred orientation associated with the hexagonal phase. While the ZnO film with the optimal structural properties was obtained at a sputtering power of 175 W, films deposited at powers around 100 W showed a stable optical transmittance of over 85 % over the visible range and linear electrical conductance.

The tobacco whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), is a serious pest that transmits tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) in tomato. The tobacco whitefly exhibits morphological similarity with the greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) which also damages various plants in the green house. Therefore, it is very important to quickly and accurately diagnose whiteflies for applying pest manage ment strategies. In this study, we used a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay to quickly and effectively detect B. tabaci. Primer sets were investigated for the specificity of B. tabaci by visible detection of the target DNA fragment. Two primer sets for pheromone biosynthesis activating neuropeptide (PBAN) gene were obtained from transcriptomic analysis of B. tabaci biotype Q. The PBAN-based LAMP primer set showed specific amplification of the target region. The optimal conditions for B. tabaci detection were 60 ◦ C for 60 min with four LAMP primers of PBAN. The minimum amount of genomic DNA required for visible detection was 100 ng. These results suggest that the PBAN-based LAMP assay can be applicable for field monitoring of B. tabaci.

Domestic gas boilers with high thermal efficiency and low concentration of CO and NOx in exhaust gas were developed in cooperation with several research institutes, universities, and companies. Integration and performance test results of the boiler systems will be presented in this paper, on the other hand development results of core parts like burners, heat exchangers and blowers in the boilers in others. The results showed both developed boilers with rectangular or cylindrical type of heat exchanger satisfied project objectives of thermal efficiency over 90% (SEDBUK, class A), NOx concentration of 50 ppm, and CO concentration of 40 ppm.

A great deal of exhaust gas inside a combustion room goes out through exhaust pipe but residual gas, is called "Blowby gas", enters the crankcase through a small gap between the piston and the cylinder wall. Here, if the crankcase isn't vented, this causes many bad effects such as lubricant oil contamination, corrosion by that and crankcase explosion by rising pressure. So, most automobiles are constituted with a PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system to prevent previous problems. PCV valve is the most important part in this ventilation system. When companies are manufacturing new engines, engineers are designing it depending on their experiments than theoretical knowledge. Much effort and many times are needed for new development. This study will show quantitative results to increase the possibilities of reduction of developing time.
