        Studies on estimating crown diameter was concluded with data taken on 91 plots in red pine (Pinus densiflora S, et Z.) stands throughout Kyeongki-do, Kangwon-do, Chungchongnam-do, and Chungchongbuk-do. The results are as follows. 1. In estimating crown diameter (CD, unit : m) with diameter at breast height (D, unit : ㎝), the most appropriate form of equation with coefficients is CD=2.2019 + 0.0966 D 2. The values of crown diameter by diameter class are presented in Table 3. No significant difference is shown between estimated values and observed values. 3. The error of estimation in Table 3 is 8.64% which is considered small enough to use the values in the table as estimates. It is suggested that this kind of practical study on the other species be continued.

        Juniperus chinensis is a garden tree for admiration. From view of the fact that the demand of this tree has been steadily increased, it is felt necessary to work out a comprehensive program for its multiplication on an economical basis. The present experiment was performed in odrer to investigate the effects of chemical-treatment and age of slip on the rooting of Juniperus chinensis. 1, 2, and 3 years old slips were collected, respectively, from Juniperus chinensis growing within the campus of this University. The sample slips were immersed in 0.02% solution of Indole-3-acetic acid used as a reagent for 48 hours and subsequently put into mud dumplings and then the cutting was made. The cutting was carried out on April 15, May 17 and June 14, 1971, respectively. The rooting of the sample slips were observed on July 21, 1971 by age and treatment of the reagent. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1) The 1 year old slip showed a lower rooting ratio (25% of treated plot and 0% of control plot), which a higher rooting ratio was observed in the 3 years old slip (63.3% of treated plot and 36.6% of control plot). 2) The plot chemically treated showed a higher rooting ratio compared with the control plot; 25.0% in April, 33.4% in May and 18.3% in June by each plot. The overall rooting ratio during the experimental period was higher by 25.6% in the treated plot (Table 2) than the control plot. 3) The 3 years old slip in the infant group showed good rooting which was enhanced by the treatment with a rooting stimulant compared with the control plot. It could be seen that the rooting ratio was the highest in the cutting slip in the month of April.

        이하선에 전이된 혈관육종 1예

        Angiosarcoma is a rare, highly aggressive tumor of vascular endothelium, representing less than 1% of all soft tissue sarcomas.Angiosarcoma can occur anywhere in the body, but in the skin, it is most commonly observed in the head and neck of elderlymen. It has a poor prognosis because it can recur locally and metastasize to regional lymph nodes and distantly, especially to thelung or vertebrae. We present an extremely rare case of a metastatic angiosarcoma in the parotid gland after complete remissionof the primary angiosarcoma in scalp. Previously, radiotherpy and chemotherapy was given to primary scalp tumor. We performedradical parotidectomy followed by radiotherapy of the region. He has no evidence of disease over 6 months.       • 소나무林의 材積表 調製에 關한 硏究 : 本校 加平演習林을 中心으로 in Areas of Kyung Hee University Forest

        The purpose of this study was to calculate table of stem volume by the measurement of some sample trees. Surveyed forest stand was the second block(20.80ha)of Kyung Hee University forests located at san 58 and 64, Gaegok-Ri, Gapyung-Yeup, Gapyung-Goon, Kyunggi province in Korea. The stand was mainly composed of Uneven-aged Japanese red pine. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. A General equation of V(Volume)=10^aD^bH^c was used to calculate the volume of Japanese red pine. 2. The calculated volume equation for Japanese red pine was V=0.0000622D^(1.6918)H^(1.1397). 3. The Volume equation of Japanese red pine had standard deviation of σ=0.0162549 and standard error of σM=0.0045083. The rate of expected error was e=5.06%. 4. The Stem Volume table for Japanese red pine was prepared by the above equation(Table5).

      • 樹高表의 調製에 關한 硏究(第2報) : 本校 加平演習林의 상수리나무林을 中心으로 In Areas of Oak Tree (Quercus Acutissima Carr) Stand of Kyung Hee University Forest

        The porpose of this study was to calculate tree height growth by the measurements of some sample trees, Surveyed forest stand was the second block (20.80㏊) of Kyung Hee University forests located at san 58 and 64, Gaegok-Ri, Gapyung-Yeup, Gapyung-Goon, Kyunggiprovince in Korea. The stand was mainly composed of uneven-aged Oak tree. The following result were obtained based on the relationship between tree hight (H) growth and diameter breast high (D.B.H.). 1. Oak tree had height curve of H=1.99682D^0.62328, correlation coefficient of r_yχ=098481 in the main equation, and stand error of s_yχ=0.01846. 2. The tree height table (table 2) for oak tree was calculated by D.B.H. class using the above height curve equation. 3. Tree height growth showed culmination until the prime of life and gradually decreased after this stage.

      • 리기다소나무 林分의 材積生長率 推定에 關한 硏究 : For the Artificial Mill 人工林을 中心으로

        The purpose of this study was to estimate the stand yield in the future based on the measurement of the volume growth in the last 10 years. Surveyed forest stands were the third block of Kyung Hee university experiment forest at the Toechon-myun, Kwangju-kun, Kyunggi province in Korea. The stand was composed of even-aged pitch pine(pinus rigida Mill) with artificial forest aged 20 years. The estimation of stand growth rate was conducted by taking out the core at the diameter breast high(D.B.H.) of the sampling trees measured in the sampling plots. The results were obtained as follow. 1) The regression between the diameter (D) and diameter growth (↑) was calculated to be ↑ = 0.82777 - 0.0057D. 2) The estimated equation of confidence interval (S²↑) of the diameter growth was S²↑= 0.02878 (0.43846 - 0.07616D + 0.00345D²). 3) The equation for estimating tree height (H) from diameter was H = 3.44707D^0.44907 with correlation coefficient (γ_yx) of γ_yx = 0.97494, and standard error (S_yx) of S_yx = 0.011 in the main equation. The tree height table for pitch pine was prepared by using above tree height equation. 4) The estimation of annual volume growth rate was 14.9% and the rate of estimated error was 9.0%. 5) Total tree volume was 98.5980m³/ha. 6) Total annual tree volume growth was 14.75m³/ha. 7) The range of annual tree volume growth was from 13.40m³ to 16.09m³/ha. 8) Total volume of entire survey area(4.80ha) was 473.27m³. 9) Total volume growth for annual of entire survey area was 70.82m³.

      • 소나무-굴참나무 천연 혼효임분 구조에 관한 연구

        본 연구는 한국 중부지방의 소나무-참나무 천연 혼효임분을 대상으로 입지조건에 따른 생장 및 임분구조를 파악하여 합리적인 경영방안을 제시하기 위하여 수행되었다. 사면별(북, 서 남) 위치종속조사에 의하여 수종별 생장량, 흉고직경변이지수, 혼효지수를 추정하여 혼효 임분구조를 파악하였다. 소나무의 생장은 북사면, 서사면, 남사면의 순서로 점차 감소하였으나, 굴참나무는 이와 반대의 경향을 나타냈다. 모든 방위의 혼효림에서 전체 및 각각 수종별, 개체목의 첫 번째 주변목만을 고려한 흉고직경변이지수 평균값은 23∼27%로 적은 직경변이 (little differentiation)를 나타내고 있었으며 , 이것은 소경급의 입목들이 큰 직경급을 갖고 있는 주변목의 직경에 75%의 크기를 갖고 있는 것으로서 , 즉 각 개체목들이 대부분 비슷한 직경급을 갖고 있었다. 특히 남향의 혼효림에서 굴참나무의 주변목은 모두 비슷한 직경급으로서 흉고직경변이지수값이 89∼96%으로 나타났다. 수종을 고려하지 않은 각 입목별 평균 혼효지수는 67∼77%로 1∼3개의 주변목이 중심목과 다른 수종으로 나타났으며 , 소나무를 중심목으로 보았을 때 모든 방위에서 주변목이 굴참나무로 구성된 43∼64%의 높은 값을 나타냈으며 ,굴참나무는 단지 33∼40% 만을 나타났다. 따라서 이 혼효림에서는 두 수종간에 강한 경쟁을 내포하고 있음을 판단할 수 있다. This study is to rationalize the forest management practice based upon the growth and structure of pine-oak mixed natural forest standards in central part of South Korea. The mingling index and DBH-differentiation index estimated by a distance-dependency survey conducted for each slope (north, west and south) is compared with the growth and 3 dimensional stock map. Pine trees revealed a slower growth as the slopes changed from north to west and from west to south, whereas oak trees showed the opposite results. The dbh-differentiation index for first neighbor tree (DD1) showed 23∼27% by stand mean values. These results were little differentiation, i.e., nearly 75% of neighbor trees belong to the same dbh-class of center-tree. Specially the DD1 values of oak showed 89∼96% by nearly same dbh-class with neighbor trees. Based upon the mean mingling index value (MI) for all trees result that the MI3 values showed 67∼77% as 1∼3 neighbor trees by other species from center-tree. The MI3 value of pine showed highly 43∼46% in all exposition as neighbor trees of oak, but the MI3 value of oak showed only 33∼40%. Based upon the study result that the competition pressure between pine and oak is intensified within a mixed forest stand.

        The porpose of this study was to calculate tree height growth by the measurement of some sample trees. Surveyed forest stand was the second block (20.80ha) of Kyung Hee University forests located at San 58 and 64, Gaegok-Ri, Gapyung-Yeup, Gapyung-Goon, Kyunggi province in Korea. The stand was mainly composed of uneven-aged Japanese red pine. The following results were obtained based on the relationship between tree height (H) growth and diameter breast high (D.B.H.) 1. Japanese red pine had height curve of H=1.32376 D^0.77958, correlation coefficient of Υ_yx=0.99727 in the main equation, and standard error of S_yx=0.01226. 2. The tree height table for Japanese red pine was calculated by D.B.H. class using the above height curve equation. 3. Tree height growth showed culmination in the prime of life and gradually decreased after this stage.
