Visualized Engine is constructed to observe DISC(Direct Injection Stratified Charge). processes in the GDI(Gasoline Direct Injection) engine cylinder. This Engine is built by modification of the conventional 4-stroke PFI(Port Fuel Injection) engine and its all parts of cylinder liner is visualized. Because vibrational characteristics are not bad operations over 2000rpm speed is ossible. Using this visualized engine, GDI fuel injection processes and flame propagation can be observed by photographic technique. This engine possibly will be used for qualification of DISC combustion mechanism.<br/>

2006년 8월 경북 포항, 경주 및 울산에서 우렁쉥이 대량폐사가 발생한 후 태풍 ‘우쿵’이 동해 남부해역의 우렁쉥이 폐사에 영향을 미쳤을 가능성을 토대로 태풍 ‘우쿵’ 통과 전후의 해황 자료 분석 및 폐사 현장을 조사하였다. 조사결과 동해 남부해역에서 8월 16일 제 10호 태풍 「우쿵」 이전은 표층수온이 20℃내외, 10~20m층은 14℃내외로 표ㆍ저층 간에는 동해 고유 냉수대 영향으로 뚜렷한 수온약층과 전반적으로 저수온상을 보였다. 그러나 제 10호 태풍 「우쿵」 발생 후 약 5일간 지속된 북풍계열의 강풍으로 인하여 수온이 높은 외측의 표층수가 연안으로 밀려들어오면서(에크만 효과) 태풍 이전의 동해안 전반에 걸친 냉수대에 적응된 우렁쉥이가 태풍으로 표ㆍ저층 간 수온차가 없이 단시간에 급격히 24℃이상으로 급상승함으로서 급격한 수온변화(10℃ 이상)에 의한 스트레스로 인하여 생리대사에 장애를 받아 대량폐사가 발생한 것으로 추정된다.

The microstructure, tensile and impact properties of forgings of 7175 aluminium alloy have been studied as a function of intermediate thermo-mechanical treatment(ITMT) process. The ITMT process is consisted of warm working and recrystallization. In the case that the billet was warm-worked above 60% below 250℃ and recrystallized at 475℃, the grain size revealed about 17㎛ which corresponds to one third of that of conventional process. The refinement of grain size leaded to the improved ductility and impact energy without sacrifice of tensile strength. It was found that the ITMT processed specimen behaved isotropically due to the near equiaxed grains. It was observed that the ITMT processed specimen showed the mixed fracture mode of transgranular and intergranular, instead of intergranular mode. This change of fracture mode contributed to the improved ductility and impact property.

A 2-phase fuel injector for a 4-stroke gasoline direct injection (GDI) gasoline engine Was developed and optimized. The developed 2-phase injector showed sufficiently stable behavior up to 6.000rpm. Spray SMD from this injector did not exceed about 20llm, One cylinder of the tested commercial SI engine was modified to the GDI operations. where the developed injector was applied. Spray direction could be controlled by a deflector installed on the injector nozzle tip. Combustion performance of the GDI system was compared with conventional .MPI operation in tC1111S of imep and emissions. Three different shapes of piston crown were tried to extend the lean mixture limit. As a result, the lean limit of GDI operation was extended from ????0.75, in MPI system. to 0.65<br/> ~OJ;5.<br/>
