Sustainable production of liquid biofuels from renewable microalgae biomass
2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.29 No.-
Microalgae are important as feedstock in production of liquid biofuels such as biodiesel, bioethanol andbio-oil. Biodiesel and bioethanol can be produced from lipids and carbohydrates of microalgae biomass, respectively. Bio-oil and bio-char are prepared using thermochemical treatment of microalgae biomassor residual biomass after lipid extraction and/or saccharification of cellular carbohydrates. Recentadvances in biorefinery present opportunities to develop sustainable and integrated productions ofvarious liquid fuels from microalgae biomass in economical way within the next decades. This reviewexamines the recent progress of microalgae-based liquid biofuel production with regard tocharacteristics and applicability of microalgae as feedstock.
Vol.- No.18

Physically disabled people usually find many difficulties when seeking a job. The unemployment rate of the disabled is more than 6 times higher than the general public; because their working competence, regardless of their physical disadvantage, is not very widely known to the society. The society has to give them a job opportunity that suits the individual interest and personality; and, this should be preceded by appropriate education system for the disabled. Right now, they are taught in few of general schools and designated special schools. Those special schools and career-training centers have executed all the job relevant education programs for the physically disabled. However, now, more of physically disabled students could receive higher education, thanks to the Supernumerary Special Selection In College Entrance Act for Students with Disability, The number of physically disadvantaged students who received the benefits of this system have been rapidly increased. To respond with their high level of knowledge, we have to actively develop diversified and intensified career search programs for them. The statistics reveal that one of their career preferences is license or certificate holding jobs, such as high level public service members, teachers, social welfare workers, psychology counselors, computer specialists, and rehabilitation trainers. To provide and guide them to appropriate career path, the college should hire more field specialists who have specific knowledge and experiences in this field. Furthermore, we have to study and store case studies for those who have successfully found a desirable job upon individuality, so the students could have role models in their lives. All this should be based on establishing and implementing more specialized career institutes for those students, where they can find their field of interests and have proper career relevant consulting services.

This study establishes basic data for the development of a new Chemical, Biological, and Radioactive (CBR) protective clothing by selecting the ventilation position to optimize thermal comfort on the basis of the opening and closing of each part. Participants were eight men in their 20s who had previously worn CBR protective clothing. After vigorous exercise and perspiration, the microclimate of the clothing and skin temperature was measured. Results revealed that when the ventilation zipper was opened after exercising, the skin and clothing microclimate temperatures, which had increased during the exercise, decreased in the chest and shoulder blade regions. The clothing microclimate humidity decreased in the chest area. The change was greatest in the chest region; the skin temperature decreased by 0.2°C, the clothing microclimate temperature by 2.7°C, and the clothing microclimate humidity by 3.2%RH through ventilation. Thus, the opening that allows the exchange of accumulated heat and moisture while wearing the CBR protective clothing is efficient.
