Behavioral properties from the experimental results were investigated and com-pared with the previous studies. Axial load was applied to a rectangular hollow steel pipe section and the chord to bracing member ratio was arranged as 0.5(β) and 90 degree angle(θ) considering nonlinear behavior of material and shape. To yield stress range the nonlinear behavior of pipe material was assumed as a linear one. Stress-strain curve of elasticity -perfect plasticity after the yield stress range, where no stress increased despite the increased rate of deformation and disregarding strain hardening, was assumed. Considering the rectangular hollow steel pipe has characteristics of considerable thin thickness to the side length of one sectional segment, a model was constituted using shell elements. Since the perpendicular X-joint is in symmetry for both horizontal and vertical face around the center line that only one quarter of the total portion could be sued. The result of this experimental study has produced about 25% lower values than the yield-line equation. However the result was in good accord with the previous experimental results in distribution range.
