Fabrication of graphite nanoplatelet-based films and its application to flexible heater

Graphite nanoplatelet comprised with multi-layered graphene sheets is fabricated through a mild-oxidation process of graphite. The fabricated graphite platelet exhibits high electrical and thermal conductivity because the trapped water molecules in the expanded graphite nanoplatelet act as a good ionic conductor. The expanded graphite nanoplatelet is micro-patterned at polyimide film using a screen printing method in order to prepare the flexible patch heater. The graphite nanoplatelet-based patch heater provides excellent heat up to 172.3°C at 14 V. Furthermore, the outstanding electrothermal properties of the graphite nanoplatelet-based patch heater are maintained even though the bending radius is changed, which is a useful property for the practical application.
Strategies to enhance the performance of stimuli-responsive smart fluids

Stimuli-responsive smart fluids, such as electro-responsive (ER) and magneto-responsive (MR) fluids, have attracted a substantial interest because of their characteristic features and sufficient probability for commercialization. Several parameters, including dielectric constants, electrical conductivity, volume fraction, geometrical feature of dispersed materials, and electric/magnetic field strengths, affect the performances of smart fluids. Therefore, studies on the effects of these parameters to ER/MR efficiencies and performances have a significant importance for achieving practical commercialization.
위관영양 환자의 위관영양 용기의 소독이 설사유발에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 일 종합병원 신경계 중환자실 환자를 중심으로

This study was attempted to identify diarrhea relation to disinfection of the feeding bag for the patient with nasogastric tuba! feeding. The data were collected at neurological intensive care unit of the D general hospital in Ulsan city from the 1st March to 30th September, 1997. The subjects were 20 patients and observed two groups with disinfection of the feeding bag, serum albumin level, antibiotics with/without H2 antagonist, duration of the feeding administration. The data were analyzed by SPSS/I'C+. Data analysis included the frequency, percentage and x 2-test. The results were as follows 1) Among the demographic characteristics, it is riot significant diarrhea with age, sex, mechanical ventilator. 2) Among the 20 patients, 11(55 %) patients occurred diarrhea with disinfection of the feeding bag and the difference is significant( x 2=5.26, p=0.021). 3) It is not significant diarrhea with serum albumin level. 4) It is not significant diarrhea with antibiotics with/without 112 antagonist. 5) It is significant diarrhea with duration of the feeding administration(,-!2=15.1r, p=0.0001). The data indicate that it is necessary the nurses must do disinfection of feeding bag for the patients with nasogastric tubal feeding to prevent diarrhea.

White light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with a uniform illumination distribution are fabricated by a facile and innovative method, a semi-solidification process. Through a semi-solidification process, the fluorescent phosphors are evenly dispersed in the encapsulant of LEDs. Uniform dispersion of phosphors is facilitated by adopting a B-stage intermediate step during a semi-solidification process. The effect of the uniform dispersion of phosphors on the performance of white LEDs is investigated through the several characteristic analyses. This approach is effective for the performance enhancement of white LEDs including a long-term stability as well as a uniform illumination distribution.

Highly monodisperse silica nanoparticles with four different diameters (100, 150, 250 and 500 nm) areprepared by adjusting the reaction temperature. With increasing the reaction temperature, thenucleation is promoted, consequently reducing the particle size. As-prepared silica particles are adoptedas dispersing materials for electro-responsive smartfluids. The influence of particle size on the electroresponsivecharacteristics is systematically studied and analyzed. The ER efficiency of the silica-based ERfluids is significantly enhanced from ca. 17 to 63 as the particle size increases from 100 to 500 nm at ashear rate of 1 s–1 under the electricfield of 2.5 kV mm–1. Furthermore, the anti-sedimentation propertiesof the silica nanoparticles are investigated to achieve an in-depth insight into the effect of particle size onelectrorheological performances. All silica-based ERfluids show excellent anti-settling property thatmaintains high sedimentation ratio over 0.987 even after 120 h.
A new green technology for direct synthesis of carbon nanodots with narrow size distribution

Highly monodisperse carbon nanodots are synthesized by a surfactant-free polymerization andsubsequent carbonization process, which is a straightforward and environmental-friendly approach. Uniform polypyrrole nanoparticles with a diameter of ca. 10 nm are successfully fabricated using lowtemperature polymerization. Subsequent carbonization of polypyrrole leads to the formation of carbonnanodots having an average diameter of 8 nm. Structural information analysis is carried out to clarify thestructure of carbon nanodots. Moreover, spectroscopic investigation on the carbon nanodots isconducted to achieve an in-depth examination on the characteristics of carbon nanodots.
