To investigate the users` activity, impact and psychology in Naejang Temple district at Mt. Naejang National Park in Korea, users` density and questionnaire survey at three major picnic areas and passenger counting at major pass were executed and environmental impacton on the site was surveyed, The total number of visitors showed stability at the level of one million persons every year after 1984. Users` impact was much severe along the main trail, the upper cablecar station and the slope from the observatory to Keumsun Valley, The maximum momentary number of users was estimated as 53,000 persons in autumn. Approximately 20% of the total number of visitor used Keumsun Valley and Weonjeok Valley area and 80% of visitors left after using only grassland and cablecar. The visitors` characteristics was similiar to the type of long-distanced national park and the main visiting purpose was to see autumn leaves. The psychological satisfaction did not very significantly as to increasing user`s speace. As a result of varimax rotated factor analysis, the 1st factor, most affecting users` psychological satisfaction, was related to ladnscape and consisted of nature disturbance, crowdedness, .noisiness, cleanness, in order of importance. The 2nd factor was related to facilities and consisted of number of toilet, number of waste-baskets, amount of drinking water, safety, in order of importance.

To investigate the structure of the plant community of the Naejang Temple District in Mt. Naejang National Park, 22 plots were set up by the vegetation physiognomy and vegetation analysis by four kinds of ordination techniques(PO, PCA, RA and DCA) was carried out. Pure and mixed forest community of Queycus varialilis and Q. mongolica were major forest communities and each of them covered 31.27 and 20.77%, respectively. The degree of human disturbance of vegetation 9, 8, 7 and 6 area covered 30.9, 67.0, 0 and 0.02, respectively. According to stand dynamic analysis by DBH class distribution, the present Pinus densiflora and Quercus communities may be succeeded to Carpinus laziflora communities. DCA was the most effective method of this study. DCA ordination showed that successional trends of tree species seem to be from P. densiflora through Q. variabilis, Q. aliena, Sorbus alnifolia, Platycarya strobilacea to Carpinus laxiflora, Fraxinus rhynchophylla, Zelkova serrata, Corpus controversa in the tree layer, and from Rhododendron mucronulatunz, Rh. schlippenbachii, Lespedeza cyrtobotrya, Rhus trichocarpa through Stvrax japonica, Daphniphyllum maeropodum, Sapium japonicum to Euonymus oxyplzyllum, E. sieboldiana, Lindera erythracarpa in the subtree layer.

To investigate and analyze the change of the vegetation community structure between the severely damaged time (in 1980) and the restored time (in 1987) by the pine gall midge. Thecodoplosis japonensis, four plots with five subplots were sampled at Gwangju-gun of Kyongki-do. The total number of woody species per 500㎡ changed 39 in 1980 to 41 in 1987. According to the damage restoring, the importance value of the genus Quercus as substituting in the severely damaged forest showed a slight decrease but the importance value of Carpinus laxiflora, Sorbus alnifolia and Styrax obassia increased. As to changes of the vegetation community structure for seven years, the diversity of vegetation structure has increased. The similarity indices between 1980 and 1987 were 52.9% and 51.9% in the understory and shrub stratum, respectively.

To investigate the structure of the plant community structure of Mt. Yongmun in Kyonggi-do, fifty-four plots were set up by the clumped sampling method. The classification by TWINSPAN and DCA ordination were applied to the study area in order to classify them into several groups based on woody plants and environmental variables. By both techniques, the plant community were divided into two groups by the aspect. The dominant species of south aspect were Pinus densiflora, Quercus aliena, Q.mongolica, Carpinus laxiflora and of north aspect were Q. mongolica, Fraxinus rhynchophylla. The successional trends of tree species in south aspect seem to be from P. densiflora through Q. serrata, Q. aliena, Q. mongolica to C. laxiflora. As a result of the analysis for the relationship between the stand scores of DCA and environmental variables, they had a tendency to increase significantly from the P. densiflora and Q. mongolica community to C. laxiflora and F. rhynchophylla community that was the soil moisture, the amount of soil humus and soil pH.

To investigate the structure of the plant community of Soribong area in Kwangnung forest, forty-six plots were set up by the clumped sampling method. The classification by TWINSPAN and four kinds of multivariate ordination(PO, PCA, RA, DCA) were applied to the study area in order to classify them into several groups based on woody plants and environmental variables. The classification had been successfully overlayed on an ordination of the same data using DCA. The plots can be classified into four groups by TWINSPAN and DCA. The successional trends of tree species by both techniques seem to be from Pinus densiflora through Quercus mongolica, Q. serrata, Q. aliena, Carpinus laxiflora, Sorbus alnifolia to C. cordata, Fraxinus rhynchophylla. Cornus controversa in the canopy layer, and from Rhododendron mucronulatum. Rhus triohocarpa, Lespeoleza cyrtobotrya, Weigela subsessilis through Corylus sieboldiana, Lindera obtusiloba to Slaphylea bumalda, Callicarpa japonica, Lonicera maackii in the understory layer. As a result of the analysis for the relationship between the stand scores of DCA and environmental variables, they had a tendancy to increase significantly from the P. densiflora community to C. cordata community that n-as soil pH and the amount of humus, total nitrogen and exchangeable cations.

To investigate the structure of the plant community of Mt. Jookyup area in Kwangnung forest, thirty-seven plots were set up by the clumped sampling method. The classification by TWINSPAN and two kinds of multivariate ordination (RA, DCA) were applied to the study area in order to classify them into several groups based on woody plants and environmental variables. The classification have been successfully overlayed on an ordination of the same data using DCA, The plots can be classified into five groups by TWINSPAN and DCA. $quot;the successional trends of tree species by both techniques seem to be expected two ways in the canopy layer. The first is from Pinus densiflora to Carpinus laxiflora and the second is from Pinus densiflora through Quercus mongolica to Carpinus laxiflora. In the understory layer, it was expected that Rhododendron mucronulatum → Lindera obtusiloba, Symplacos chinensis for, pilosa, Viburunum erasum, Styrar obassia → Euonymus sachalinensis, Sorbus alnifolia. As the result of the analysis for the relationship between the stand scores of DCA and environmental variables, they had a tendency to increase significantly from the P. densiflora community to Quercus spp. community that was soil pH, total nitrogen, available phosphate and exchangeable potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium.
