We study analytically the dynamic cancelation of the AC Stark shift in a three-level pulsed optical lattice clock by solving the time-dependent density-matrix equations in the adiabatic following limit. We found an optimum value of the common detuning ∆0 of two coherent driving fields at which the dynamic AC Stark shift cancelled completely at an arbitrary field strength. The optimum value of ∆0 for the well-studied Sr atoms agreed well with the values obtained by using other methods,for instance, a numerical calculation and a wave-function formalism. We give an optimum value of common detuning, ∆0 = 65.3 MHz, for the pulsed Raman Yb optical lattice clock.

A growth trial was conducted to determine the optimal incorporation level of dietary magnesium hydrogen phosphate (MHP, MgHPO4), which was manufactured from swine manure and phosphorus (P), required by juvenile far eastern catfish (Silurus asotus). Graded MHP of 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, and 2.0%, and 2.0% monocalcium phosphate (MCP) each was added to the basal diet (control) in lieu of cellulose to become the range of available P (AP) from 0.4% to 0.8% of which diets were designated as control, MHP0.5, MHP1.0, MHP1.5, MHP2.0, and MCP, respectively. Control diet contained fish meal (20%), soybean meal (40%), wheat flour (27%), corn gluten meal (5%), fish oil (2%) and soy oil (2%) as main ingredients. Following a 24 h fasting, 540 fish with a mean body weight of 11.8 g were randomly allotted to 6 groups in triplicate, whereby 18 tanks (0.4×0.6×0.36 cm, water volume of 66 L) were prepared. The feeding experiment lasted for 8 weeks. Fish group fed the control diet showed the lowest weight gain (WG) and feed efficiency (FE) among treatments. The WG was, however, not significantly different (p>0.05) from that of fish group fed MHP0.5. Fish group fed MHP2.0 showed the highest WG and FE of which values were not significantly different from those of fish groups fed diets MHP1.0 and MHP1.5 as well as MCP (p>0.05) except fish groups fed control and MHP0.5. Aspartate aminotransferase was significantly decreased with an increase in available P, while alanine aminotransferase did not show a significant difference among treatment. The highest inorganic P in plasma was observed in fish fed MHP2.0. From the present results, a second-order regression analysis revealed that the optimal dietary MHP level and the AP requirement were found to be 1.62% and 0.7%, respectively.

Magnesium hydrogen phosphate (MHP, MgHPO4) recovered from swine manure was prepared as an alternative phosphorus (P) source. Conventional P additives, monocalcium phosphate (MCP), dicalcium phosphate (DCP), and tricalcium phosphate (TCP) were compared with the MHP in terms of growth and P availability by juvenile carp Cyprinus carpio. A basal diet as a negative control was prepared using practical feed ingredients without P supplementation to which four supplemental P sources were added at the level of 2%. Five groups of 450 fish having mean body weight of 6.5 g following 24 h fasting after 2 weeks of adaptation period were randomly distributed into each of 15 tanks (30 fish/tank). Fish were hand-fed to apparent satiety twice a day for 9 weeks. Fish fed the MHP had weight gain (WG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), protein efficiency ratio (PER), and specific growth rate (SGR) comparable to those fed the MCP. Those values of both the MHP and MCP groups were significantly different (p < 0.05) from the other groups. Fish groups fed control and the TCP showed the lowest WG, PER, and SGR and the highest FCR among treatments. No fish were died among treatments during the experimental period. Fish fed control and the TCP showed hematocrit and hemoglobin significantly lower (p < 0.05) than fish fed the MHP. The lowest inorganic P (Pi) in plasma was found in the control group. Even though Pi was not significantly different (p > 0.05) from other phosphate groups, fish fed the MCP and MHP retained higher P in whole body than the other groups. P availability was determined to be 93.2, 62.4, 6.1, and 98.0% for MCP, DCP, TCP, and MHP, respectively. The present results suggested that the MHP recovered from wastewater stream could be used as an alternative P source in carp diet.

Purpose: We evaluated the result of operative treatment of the hallux valgus in male patients. Materails and Methods: Total 11 cases (10 patients) of the hallux valgus deformity that treated with operation were evaluated. Following Mann's radiological classification system, there was 1 cases of mild, 8 cases of moderate, and 2 cases of severe. Preoperative, postoperative, postoperative 3 months and postoperative 6 months follow up standing radiographs were used as radiologic evaluation. And we evaluated radiological outcomes by hallux valgus angle (HVA), first-second intermetatarsal angle (IMA), distal metatarsal articular angle (DMAA), proximal phalangeal articular angle (PPAA) and clinical outcomes by hallux-metatarsophalangeal scale of American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score. Result: Radiologically, the mean preoperative HVA $37^{\circ}$ and IMA $13.7^{\circ}$ were improved postoperatively as HVA $11.9^{\circ}$ and IMA $4.7^{\circ}$, and the mean preoperative DMMA $29.4^{\circ}$ and PPAA $8.6$ were improved postoperatively DMMA $13.9^{\circ}$ and PPAA $7^{\circ}$. But, postoperative 6 months follow up HVA, IMA, DMMA and PPAA was increased at $14.2^{\circ}$, $6.3^{\circ}$, $16.1^{\circ}$ and $8.3^{\circ}$. Average AOFAS score were improved from 61.2 points to 75.2 points. Conclusion: In our study, operative treatment of hallux valgus in male patients with proximal metatarsal osteotomy and distal soft tissue procedure showed good results but it was necessary to pay attention to increase aspect of follow up radiologic measurements.
추골과 침골이 없는 등골고정 환자에서 등골전절제술 후 전이소골대치물을 이용한 이소골 재건술 1예

This study was done on a case of chronic otitis media in both ears of a 47-year-old woman who received tympanization in the left middle ear in a local hospital three years ago. Ossiculoplasty was not tried in this case due to fixation of the stapes. However, conductive hearing loss of the left ear continued after tympanization, necessitating middle ear exploration. After the exposure of middle ear cavity, we found the absence of malleus and incus, and the fixation of stapes. Stapedectomy was carried out and total ossicular replacement prosthesis was also performed for the protection of the oval window by using perichondrium, cartilage and fascia. Postoperative bone conduction showed improvement of 15 dB, and air conduction showed improvement of 22 dB. After the operation, an average air-bone gap was improved within 10 dB. We experienced good hearing improvement without significant complications during the follow up period. (Korean J Otolaryngol 2003;46:73-6)
