        고성장기업의 연구개발활동과 인적자본에 의한 생산성 향상에 관한 연구

        According to the endogenous growth theory by Romcer(Romer, 1986, 1990), the stock of knowledge by research and development(R&D) and human capital has an increasing marginal productivity and growth rate can be increasing over time, in contrast to the models where capital exhibits diminishing marginal productivity. In line with this, this paper examined the effect of R&D investment and human capital on firm growth, focusing on the sustainable growth of small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) and large firms. In this study, we first found the human capital influenced positively on the sales growth of high-growth SMEs and high-growth large firms. In particular, we found the human capital of high-growth SMEs more influenced on firm growth than that of high-growth large firms. Second, we also found the human capital influenced on the sales growth of high-growth SMEs and high-growth large firms that exceed the average of R&D intensity more positively than their counterparts that do not. In particular, we found the human capital of high-growth large firms that exceed the average of R&D intensity more influenced on firm growth than that of high-growth SMEs that exceed the average of R&D intensity. The results of this study have a important implication. Firms could expect learning effect of human capital from the R&D activities and that could help the firms grow continuously in both high-growth SMEs and high-growth large firms. One of the limitations of this study is the time lag between R&D activities(innovation) and their commercial success. However, it is expected that R&D activities(innovation) will indeed pay off on average in the long-term(Coad & Rao, 2008). In line with this, many previous studies include one-year time lag between innovation activities(R&D) and firm growth(e.g., Coad & Rao, 2008; Coad et al., 2016; García-Manjón & Romero-Merino, 2012). In particular, Coad et al.(2016) performed additional test in order to examine the relationship between the R&D and firm growth with longer time lag, and found the results are generally similar to the results of one-year time lag. We also analyzed longitudinal data and multiple industry to overcome this limitation, as previously suggested and tested(e.g., Davidsson & Wiklund 2006; García-Manjón & Romero-Merino, 2012; Liu et al. 1999; Weinzimmer et al. 1998; Yang & Huang 2005).

        테크노스트레스가 개인 생산성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 학습능력과 자기효능감의 매개효과를 중심으로

        In the digital transformation paradigm of the whole society, triggered by the development of information technology, ICT is utilized as a basic means of business activities and has an important impact on changes in the way of work. At the same time, changes in the work environment and corporate organizational form are accelerating due to unavoidable fluctuations in the external environment including COVID-19. The increase in stress among organizational members caused by these technology-based changes in the work environment has become another essential factor for companies to manage in order to boost performance. Prior studies on technostress have mainly focused on the cause of technostress along with the relationship between technostress and productivity. However, there is still a lack of research on the factors affecting the relationship between them, especially the influence relationship according to individual characteristics. Therefore, more approaches are needed to consider the use of many variables related to personal inclinations and characteristics. In this study, the effect of technostress on individual productivity was analyzed for members of corporate organizations who perform tasks using ICT technology. In particular, the structural influence relationship was analyzed between technostress, learning ability, self-efficacy, and individual productivity variables by confirming the mediating effects of learning ability and self-efficacy, which are individual characteristics of organizational members. As a result of the analysis, it was found that technology uncertainty and technology invasion had a negative (-) effect on an individual learning ability in the relationship between technostress and learning ability. In the relationship between technostress and self-efficacy, it was revealed that techno-complexity, techno-uncertainty, and techno-invasion had a negative (-) effect on self-efficacy. In addition, it was confirmed that self-efficacy had a significant mediating effect between individual productivity and technostress from techno-complexity, techno-uncertainty, and techno-invasion. This study has expanded previous studies on the relationship between productivity and technostress which is a dysfunction that occurs from the use of ICT. In particular, it was systematically identified through a more detailed analysis from the perspective of individual characteristics, that is, the mediating effect of self-efficacy. This has academic significance in that it provides a basis for research for a systematic approach to technostress felt by members and for preparation of countermeasures. From a practical point of view, it was confirmed that technostress caused by the rapid transition to a fast digital environment of companies using ICT reduces self-efficacy and ultimately decreases productivity. In particular, if an organization implements policies and systems that can continuously manage technostress arising from techno-complexity, techno-uncertainty, and techno-invasion, which have been identified as having a significant effect on self-efficacy, it is expected to increase individual productivity and ultimately improve organizational performance.

      • 연구개발 투자 증가와 기업성장의 지속성에 관한 연구

        본 논문은 선행연구를 통해 높은 성장을 경험한 이후에는 낮은 성장을 하는 경향이 있는 것으로 밝혀진 ⑴ 중소기업의 연도별 성장률 분석을 통해 중소기업과 대기업의 기업성장과정(패턴)의 특성을 비교하고 ⑵ R&D 투자가 증가한 중소기업이 그렇지 않은 기업에 비해 높은 성장을 할 가능성이 있는가에 대하여 대기업과 비교 분석하였으며, 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중소기업의 연도별 기업성장률은 음(-)의 autocorrelation을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 세부적으로 살펴보면, OLS 분석과 분위회귀분석의 성장률 상위분위에서 중소기업의 연도별 기업성장률에 유의한 음(-)의 autocorrelation이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 대기업의 연도별 기업성장률은 분위회귀분석의 성장률 분위 QR_75 이하에서 유의한 양(+)의 autocorrelation이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 선행연구 결과와 일치하는 것으로서, 중소기업은 대기업에 비해 다소 erratic하고, ‘start-and-stop’한 성장과정을 겪는 반면, 대기업은 중소기업에 비해 비교적 부드러운 성장과정을 거친다는 것을 의미한다. 둘째, 기업의 R&D 투자 증가가 연도별 기업성장률의 autocorrelation에 미치는 영향에 대한 분석결과, 중소기업과 대기업 모두, R&D 투자가 증가하지 않은 기업들의 연도별 기업성장률은 성장률 상위분위에서 음(-)의 autocorrelation을 보이는 것으로 나타났으나, R&D 투자가 증가한 기업들은 성장률 상위분위에서 R&D 투자가 증가하지 않은 기업들 대비 양(+)의 autocorrelation을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 다만, R&D 투자가 증가한 대기업은 중소기업보다 R&D 투자 증가가 기업성장에 미치는 영향력이 더욱 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 중소기업과 대기업 모두 성공적인 R&D 투자 증가를 통해 높고 지속적인 성장을 할 가능성이 있다는 것을 의미한다. Using an augmented version of Gibrat’s law, we theorized the persistence of firm growth when firms increase their R&D investment. Based on 17 years of data from 1,361 firms(SMEs 616; large firms 745) in South Korea, this study analyzed the effect of dynamic interaction between past growth rate and R&D investment on the current growth rate in order to examine whether increasing R&D investment can help firms grow persistently. This study findings suggested that high-growth small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) are likely to show declining growth after their high growth, and this is supporting the previous studies. However, we also found high-growth SMEs that increased their R&D investment could outperform their counterparts that do not in the following year. Therefore, this study contributes to the literature on persistence of firm growth as follows: (1) we found that SMEs can grow continuously by successful outcomes from increasing R&D investment, although SMEs are prone to have difficulty in persistent growth; (2) we empirically showed that R&D investment could help firms grow persistently, while previous studies focused only on autocorrelation in annual growth rates; and (3) policy makers should develop the way of increasing R&D investment when they target HGFs and SMEs to achieve sustainable economic growth.

        국내 CEO의 사례로 살펴본 위기극복 리더십

        코로나19 바이러스의 확산은 기업들에게 위기로 다가오고 있다. 본 연구는 이에 앞서 오일쇼크, IMF 및 글로벌 금융위기 등의 위기를 극복한 기업의 리더들의 연구 사례를 통해서 위기를이겨내고 지속 가능 경영을 이룬 리더십의 특징을 살펴보고자 한다. 위기를 극복한 기업 리더들의 행동적인 공통점을 살펴보면, 현재 기업이 처해있는 환경과 내부적으로 어려운 상황 등에 대해 구성원들과 공유하려는 솔직함, 비전을 공유하고 솔선수범하는 모습을 보이거나 임무를 부여해 임직원들로부터 참여 유도, 임직원 개개인에 대해 관심을 갖고 고충을 청취하고 개선노력을기울이거나 정책적으로 반영하고자 하는 세심한 배려와 관심을 도출할 수 있었다. 아울러 위기를극복한 리더들은 변화 지향적 리더십 이론의 카리스마 리더십 또는 영감적 동기부여, 이상적 역할모델, 지적 자극 및 개별적 배려 등의 변혁적 리더십의 특성을 보인다. 앞서 위기를 극복한 리더십에 대한 연구는 코로나19로 인한 위기 극복에도 도움이 될 것이다. 다만, 코로나19가 오일쇼크, IMF 및 금융위기 등 기존에 위기와 달리 생물학적 요인으로 인해 지속적인 확산과 장기화조짐을 보이고 있어, 앞으로의 뉴 노멀에 대비해야할 것이다. 이 측면에서 과거 사례 연구만으로코로나19 위기 극복을 위한 리더십을 파악하기에는 연구의 한계점이 있다고 할 수 있다. The spread of COVID-19 is approaching the crisis of unprecedented companies. Let s look at the characteristics of leadership that has overcome the crisis and achieved sustainable management through research examples of companies that have overcome the crisis such as oil shock, IMF, and financial crisis. Leaders who have overcome the crisis show characteristics of transformational leadership such as charisma leadership in the change-oriented leadership theory or inspirational motivation, ideal role model, intellectual stimulation, and individual consideration. Looking at the common behaviors, we show ‘honesty’ to share with employees about the environment in which the company is currently facing and internally difficult situations, share a vision and take the initiative, or assign a mission to ‘induce participation’ of employees and employees They were able to derive ‘careful consideration and interest’ to listen to their grievances, pay attention to individual improvement efforts, or reflect them in policy. A study of leadership that overcome the crisis earlier will also help to overcome the crisis caused by COVID-19. However, unlike the existing crises such as oil shock, IMF, and financial crisis, COVID-19 shows signs of continued proliferation and prolongation as biological factors. In this aspect, it can be said that there are limitations of research to grasp the leadership for overcoming the crisis through only case studies in the past.

      • Community Detection과 Clustering을 이용한 주식 시장 군집화

        When investing in companies or deciding a portfolio, investors often consider the company’s industry or theme, especially Industry Classification in KOSPI Industry Group Indices. However, the classification is not based on statistical analysis using the stock price of companies. Therefore, the current study aims to suggest a new market classification based on network analysis to diversify portfolios. In the study, we applied a lasso and adaptive lasso in KOSPI data (Jan 2012~Jul 2019) to estimate an undirected graph. Then, We applied community detection and clustering analysis to classify companies in the estimated graph. As a result, most clusters include companies with different sectors in KOSPI Industry Group Indices which are closely related in reality. Moreover, based on silhouettes, new market classification results outperform the existing classification. Thus, new market classification can be a better alternative to the existing classification.
