Ginsenoside Rg3 attenuates pulmonary fibrosis by inhibiting endothelial to mesenchymal transition

Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a progressive and chronic lung disease characterized by excessiveextracellular matrix (ECM) deposition and fibroblast proliferation. Endothelial-to-mesenchymaltransition (EndMT) serves as a source of fibroblasts and contributes to PF progression. Ginsenoside Rg3 (Rg3), a steroidal saponin extracted from ginseng, is known to havepharmacological effects on vascular diseases. We have previously demonstrated that Rg3inhibits EndMT and prevents endothelial dysfunction. Thus, we hypothesized that Rg3 may be apotential therapeutic agent for PF-targeting EndMT. EndMT occurs in the lung tissue of ableomycin-induced PF mouse model, which was confirmed by co-staining of endothelial andmesenchymal markers in the pulmonary vasculature and changes in the expression of thesemarkers. Rg3 administration decreased EndMT and suppressed PF development. We alsoexamined the effect of Rg3 in an in vitro EndMT model induced by co-treatment with TGF-β2and IL-1β. Rg3 treatment alleviated the characteristics of EndMT such as spindle-shapedmorphological changes, EndMT marker expression changes, Dil-Ac-LDL uptake and migratoryproperties. In addition, we demonstrated the mechanism by which Rg3 inhibits EndMT byregulating the Smad2/3 signaling pathway. Collectively, Rg3 can be a potential therapeuticagent for PF using the EndMT inhibition strategy, furthermore, it can be considered Rg3 as atherapeutic candidate for various EndMT-associated vascular diseases.
Performance Analysis of STBC/SFBC System in Time-varying and Multi-path Channels

This study analyzed STBC and SFBC-OFDM systems having two or four transmission antennas in the time-varying and multi path fading channels environment. According to the performance analysis result, performance degradation was confirmed in this study, as channel variation period becomes shorter, when orthogonal or quasi-orthogonal STBC/SFBC technique was applied to the system having two or four transmission antennas in the time-varying and multi path fading channels. Also, the detection method using synchronization was applied for performance improvement. As a result of performance analysis on the STBC system in a time-varying channel and on the SFBC-OFDM system in the multi path channel, performance fell, as maximum time delay increased due to coherence time decline arising from the decrease of channel correlation coefficient, respectively, and the increase of the number of taps. However, BER (bit error rate) performance at SNR 25dB or higher was ascertained to improve up to 10-3 ~10-4. Compared to the detection technique using ZF (zero forcing), the MMSE (minimum mean square error) detection technique showed good performance by acquiring 1~5dB or higher SNR gain. But, the ZF detection technique had a merit of being simpler from the hardware complexity aspect, compared to the MMSE detection technique. This study showed a possibility of high speed data transmission without additional bandwidth expansion by increasing the number of transmission antennas as a result of a performance analysis in the time-varying and multi path fading generated according to user mobility in the mobile communications environment.

지역 차원에서 협력적 거버넌스의 대표적인 사례인 주민자치센터는 주민 스스로 지역문제를 해결하는 주민자치기능의 구심체 역할을 수행하고 있지만, 민간주도로의 단계별 전 환 과정에서 주민자치위원들과 자치단체 사이의 협력과 관련된 문제가 지속적으로 제기되 어 왔다. 이러한 문제의식에 기반 하여 본 연구는 주민과 지 자체의 행위자가 구성하는 주민 자치센터의 행위자 네트워크의 특성에 대해 기술적 분석을 실시하고, 행위자들 간의 협력의 요인을 다중회귀분석을 통해 분석했다. 분석 결과, 협력적 거버넌스로서의 주민자치 센터는 주민자치위원장을 중심으로 주민 자치위원들 뿐만 아니라 공무원과 주민의 인식 전 환을 위한 교육이 수반될 경우 협력의 수준이 제고되고, 주민자치 본연의 역할을 보다 높은 수준에서 수행할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 행위자들의 협력 수준 제고에 있어 제 도의 역할 및 합리적 보상체계의 구축이 중요하게 지적되었다. This study examines factors influencing actors` collaboration in network in community service center. Community center played important role for solving Local problems by Local citizens, but some gaps between members and Local government exist in sharing power and eliciting collaboration among them. Using award winning community service centers in 2009, this study first delineates network characteristics of key actors and then empirically tests those factors for better understanding of collaboration among actors in community center. In doing so, the regression analysis testing factors follows descriptive analysis regarding network features. The findings show that chief in community service center can play important role by enhancing education to promote cooperation among members and Local officials. Furthermore, the results show that training of actors, institutional factors, and reasonable compensation play crucial roles for increasing collaboration among actors.
