Lens aldose Reductase활성을 억제하는 수종 coumarin유도체에 관한 연구

Two biological pathways are activated in Diabetes mellitus, which are termed as Sorbitol pathway and glucuronic acid pathway. Aldose reductase, an enzyme in the sorbitol pathway of glucose metabolism, catalyzes the reduction of aldose sugar to sugar alcohols. Formation of excess sugar alcohols in Lens fibers leads to catarract formation which is one of the important diabetic complication process. Recently, many γ-pyron derivatives have been screened for their potential inhibitory activities on Aldose reductae. We investigated several coumarine derivatives on the Lens Aldose reductase-inhibitory activities. The results will be discussed in this paper.
