Sampling gears for collecting fish are diverse, and the community of fish varies according to the selection and characteristics of the sampling gears. The present study compared the characteristics of fish communities in Yedang reservoir using four sampling gears (kick net, cast net, gill net, and fyke net). The kick net and cast net were inefficient in collecting the number of individuals. However, they increased the species diversity of fish inhabiting the waterfront. Although not many individuals were collected, the gill net mainly collected large fish. The largest number of individuals was collected in the fyke net, and the dominance was high due to the high species selectivity. Through Self-Organizing Map (SOM) analysis, large fish were collected in the gill net, whereas small fish were collected in the fyke net. The characteristics and efficiency of the fish differed depending on the sampling gears. It is expected that researchers will need to use it appropriately according to the characteristics of the sampling gears when investigating the fish community.

Monthly fluctuation in abundance and species composition of fish in coastal waters off Oenaro island, Goheung were investigated using seasonal samples collected by a shrimp beam trawl in 2018. A total of 5,981 fishes were sampled and classified into 48 species, 32 families, and 9 orders. The dominant species was Engraulis japonicus (993 individuals, 16.60%), Amblychaeturichthys hexanema (844 individuals, 14.11%), and Thryssa kammalensis (674 individuals, 11.27%). The highest number of individuals was found in August (958 individuals), while the lowest number of individuals was found in January (136 individuals). The diversity index was the highest in November (H’ = 2.37) and the lowest in January (H’ = 1.77). 이 연구는 2018년 1월부터 12월까지 고흥 외나로도에서 조망에 어획된 어류를 대상으로 종조성 및 군집구조를 연구하였다. 어획된 어류는 총 9목 32과 48종이었고, 5,972개체가 어획되었다. 이 중 농어목이 16과 24종으로 가장 많은 출현 종수를 보였고, 우점종은 멸치(993개체, 16.60%), 도화망둑(844개체, 14.11%), 청멸(674개체, 11.27%) 순이었다. 가장 많은 개체수가 출현한 달은 958개체가 어획된 8월이었고, 1월에 193개체로 가장 적은 개체가 어획되었다. 다양도 지수는 11월에 2.37로 가장 높았고, 1월에 0.67로 가장 낮게 나타났다.

Seasonal fluctuation in abundance and species composition of fish in coastal waters off Nang island were investigated using seasonal samples collected by long-bag stow net in 2017. A total 10,208 fish were sampled and classified into 37 species, 26 families, and 9 orders. The dominant species were Engraulis japonicus (4,886 individuals, 47.9%), Pennahia argentata (842 individuals, 8.2%), and Ilisha elongata (369 individuals, 3.6%). The diversity index was the highest in May (H′=3.23) and the lowest in November (H′=1.24). The dominance index was the highest in November (D=78.7%) and the lowest in May (D=22.4%). 여수 낭도 연안에서 낭장망에 어획된 어류의 종조성 및 계절변동을 연구하기 위해 2017년에 계절별로 4개의 정점에서 진행하였다. 어획된 어류는 총 9목 26과 37종, 10,208개체가 어획되었다. 농어목이 11과 16종으로 가장 많이 출현하였고, 우점종은 멸치(4,886개체, 47.9%), 보구치(842개체, 8.2%), 준치(369개체, 3.6%) 순이었다. 다양도는 1.24~3.23 범위를 보이며 5월이 가장 높았고, 우점도는 22.4~78.7% 범위를 보이며 11월이 가장 높았다.

Seasonal fluctuation in abundance and species composition of fish in coastal waters off Samcheonpo were investigated using seasonal samples collected by a beam trawl in 2019 to compare the variation of species composition and dominant species with previous studies. A total of 6,518 fish were sampled and classified into 44 species, 30 families, and 6 orders. The dominant species were Nuchequula nuchalis (1,542 individuals, 23.7%), Platycephalus indicus (529 individuals, 8.1%), Thryssa kammalensis (437 individuals, 6.7%), Argyrosomus argentatus (403 individuals, 6.2%), and Acanthogobius flavimanus (354 individuals, 5.4%). The highest number of individuals was found in July (2,385 individuals), while the lowest number of individuals was found in January (925 individuals). The diversity index was the highest in April (Hʹ=2.733) and the lowest in July (Hʹ=2.546). 이 연구는 과거 삼천포 해역에서 진행된 어류 종조성과 우점종의 변동을 알아보기 위하여 2019년 1월부터 10월까지 계절별로 삼천포 연안에서 새우 조망에 어획된 어류를 대상으로 종조성 및 군집구조를 조사하였다. 표층 평균 수온은 8.7~24.4°C로 나타났고, 표층 평균 염분은 31.5~33.7 psu로 나타났다. 어획된 어류는 총 6목 30과 44종이었고, 6,518개체가 어획되었다. 이 중 농어목이 14과 19종으로 가장 많은 출현종수를 보였고, 우점종은 주둥치 (1,542개체, 23.7%), 양태 (529개체, 8.1%), 청멸 (437개체, 6.7%), 보구치 (403개체, 6.2%) 및 문절망둑 (354개체, 5.4%) 순이었다. 가장 많은 개체수가 어획된 달은 7월 2,385개체가 어획된 7월이었고, 1월에 925개체로 가장 적은 개체가 어획되었다. 다양도 지수는 4월에 2.733으로 가장 높았고, 우점도는 7월에 45.1%로 가장 높았다.
서남해에서 채집된 말쥐치 (Thamnaconus modestus)와 유사종 (T. septentrionalis)의 형태 및 계통유전학적 비교

Thamnaconus modestus, distributed in the Northwest Pacific, has high economic value and is used in various seafood. In this study, the morphological and genetic characteristics of T. modestus and T. septentrionalis were compared and analyzed. We observed the external and internal morphology of T. modestus, sketched skeletal elements, and analyzed phylogenetic evolutionary relationships using the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene on mitochondrial DNA compared to T. septentrionalis. The T. modestus observed in this study had blackish-brown patterns irregularly scattered on the gray-brown body, and the fins were blue-green. Genetic analysis results based on the COI sequences of T. modestus showed seven types of base sequence variation; however, the homology was more than 98.8%. In addition, as a result of comparison of the COI nucleotide sequences and phylogenetic analysis in Tetraodontiformes, two T. septentrionalis sequences (JN813099, MW485059) were similar to T. modestus with 99% homology, and the other two T. septentrionalis sequences (EF607583, KP267619) were similar to those of species belonging to another genus Thamnaconus with 95% homology with T. modestus. It was not easy to classify the species based on morphological characteristics, and phylogenetic analysis between T. modestus and T. septentrionalis confirmed the difference in classification. These results provide the external and internal morphology of T. modestus and will be used as important information for the taxonomic study of T. modestus and T. septentrionalis.
