This pilot study aimed to set up a reasonable method for measuring body segments parameters and finding out some useful body segments parameters to diagnose Sasang constitutions. In this study, we have tried to take a secure effort in measuring and diagnosing of Sasang constitutions based on the consensus among Sasang constitution experts. And we also have tried to find out some useful body segments parameters based on the actual data. We measured 9 clinically meaningful body lengths specified by Sasang constitution experts and analyzed these parameters statistically according to each Sasang constitution. We have found that Taeeumin female's ratio of foot length to height was significantly large and Soyangin's ratio was significantly small, but more data are needed to confirm this finding.

Staphylococcus aureus is one of most prevalent intramammary pathogens and have characteristics which are not easily eradicated. Recently, to understand the sources and transmission of S aureus, many studies have focused on the subtyping of field isolate. This study was preformed to investigate the distribution pattern and characteristics of the isolates using phenotyping and genotyping. Samples were collected from milk of each udder, cow bodies (perianal region, vagina, tail, udder skin, sole) and environment (floor, liner, milker's hands, water, towel, insect) from 6 herds located in Kyung-gi province. Forty five strains of S aureus were isolated from 3 dairy herds (A, B, C) and were typed by hemolytic pattern, antibiotic resistant pattern, enterotoxin typing and PCR-based DNA fingerprinting. Slime productivity was also compared by each subtype to examine potential infectiousness. Of 45 strains, 41 were isolated from milk samples and 4 were isolated from liners. No strains isolated in the bodies and environment. Forty five strains isolated were classified as 18 subtypes by phenotyping and genotyping. There was common subtype between A and B herd, but the subtype of C herd showed different pattern. Among predominant subtypes, 60% of S aureus strain isolated from A and B herd showed subtype I and 50% of S aureus strain isolated from C herd belonged to subtype VI and X II. Neither somatic cell count (SCC) nor slime production was significantly different between predominant and minor subtypes. In summary, the study revealed that liners play more important roles in the mode of transmission than environmental sources. Several subtypes can be found in a herd, only a few subtype, however, was largely associated with the majority of infection.

Endoscopic esophageal endoprosthesis is a safe and effective procedure for the palliative treatment of obstructive esophagogastric malignancy. However, the placement of conventional plastic esophageal endoprosthesis is difficult in some cases and this procedure is associated with significant complications such as perforation, hemorrhage & dysfunction of the prosthesis in the long term. The self-expanding metallic stents offer an attractive alternative to conventional esophageal stents. Ultraflex(TM) esophageal prosthesis is knitted from a single strand of Elastalloy(TM) wire, and undulates to conform with normal esophageal peristalsis, maintaining patency and promoting patients` comfort. Recently developed EsophaCoil(TM) esophageal prosthesis is unique in that it is a simple coil with close loops made from a single flat wire of nickel titanium alloy. Because the radical force of this material is much stronger than stainless steel, expansion time is therefore faster and the stent is able to dilate even extremely resistant strictures. We report our recent experience in five patients with malignant esophageal obstruction palliated with the new self-expandable titanium stent(Ultraflex(TM) and EsophaCoil(TM)).(Korean J Gastroenterol 1997;29:826-835)

슈퍼박테리아는 항생제 내성균으로 이들의 출현과 확산은 인류에게 큰 위협이다. 항생제 내성에 대응하기 위해 차세대 항생제가 개발되었지만 무분별한 사용으로 곧바로 내성균이 나타나 확산되었다. 특히 식품에서 분리된 슈퍼박테리아는 전반적인 인간의 생활 환경과 밀접한 관계가 있어 그 심각성이 크다. 이 논문에서는 차세대 항생제에 내성을 보이는 식품 유래 슈퍼박테리아 중에 서 콜리스틴 내성 살모넬라와 리네졸리드 내성 장알균의 분포와 내성도, 그리고 분자역학적 전파 경로에 대한 최신 연구 논문을 조사하여 그 동향을 분석하였다. 사람, 가축, 환경에서 분리된 식품 유래 슈퍼박테리아들의 상호간 내성 인자 교류가 차세대 항생제의 내성에 대해서도 여실히 확인되었다. 따라서 국가, 세계 단위의 원헬스적 관점을 채택한 정기적 내성 모니터링 사업의 전개가 갈수록 중요하다. Superbacteria are antimicrobial resistant bacteria, and their emergence and widespread became great threats to humanity. Next-generation antimicrobials were developed to deal with existing antimicrobial resistance, but resistant bacteria emerged and spread immediately due to indiscriminate use of antimicrobials. In particular, the foodborne superbacteria are highly serious problem because they are closely related to the overall human life. In this article, we explored the distribution and resistance level of foodborne colistin-resistant Salmonella and linezolid-resistant Enterococcus among through the latest research papers about their resistance and molecular epidemiological transmission route. The transmission of resistance factors between food-derived superbacteria and other environment was also confirmed for the case of next-generation antimicrobials. Therefore, it is increasingly important to develop national and global resistance monitoring projects with One-health scheme.
