재판 보도에서의 법리적 쟁점 다양성

이 연구는 언론이 재판 사건을 보도하는 과정에서 법리적 쟁점에 관한 정보를 얼마나 다양하게 뉴스에 반영하고 있는지, 그리고 법리적 쟁점의 다양한 정도가 재판 기사의 뉴스 성격과 어떤 관계를 맺고 있는지를 경험적으로 탐색하고, 분석결과를 바탕으로 법리를 다루는 언론의 뉴스 구성 관행에 관한 함의를 고찰한다. 이를 위해 사회적으로 큰 관심을 모았던 헌법 재판 사건에 관한 국내 주요 종합 일간지 보도를 비교 분석했다. 그간 국내 언론학에서 뉴스 다양성 연구는 주로 정치적 정보 및 의견의 다양성 측면에 초점이 맞춰진 측면이 있지만, 이 연구는 사법적 정보의 다양성을 탐색함으로써, 최근 부상하는 법치주의의 사회적 맥락에서 언론의 기능과 역할 논의에 기여하고자 했다. This study examines how daily newspapers meet the diversity of jurisdical issues in the news reports of the major cases of constitutional trials for the purpose of understanding the relationship between the news practice of media and the characteristics of judicial news reporting. For this, this researcher analyzes the news articles produced by major newspapers about the two cases of the decision to dissolve the Unified Progressive Party and Adultery case by constitutional court of Korea. As a result, the result raises various questions to seek the answer regarding to the further discussion on the relationship between jurisdiction and media in the socio‐political context of the ever‐emerging legalism.

경합적 민주주의 이론의 비판적 수용

이 글에서 연구자는 민주주의 정치와 공론장 연구에 있어서 통칭 숙의적 접근에 대한 지배적인 대안적 논의로 주목받고 있는 경합적 민주주의 이론을 소개하고, 그것이 숙의 민주주의와 어떠한 연관 혹은 대립 속에서 민주주의 사회 내의 정치와 공론장의 가능성 및 그 조건들을 그려내고 있는지에 관한 제 측면들을 고찰하고자 한다. 이를 위해 이 논문은 크게 두 부분으로 구성된다. 첫째, 우선 이 논문은 경합적 민주주의 이론의 이론적 성취에 주되게 기여한 것으로 평가되는 대표적인 저자들의 논의를 각각의 모델로 삼아 비교, 대별하고자 한다. 이를 통해 경합적 민주주의 이론이 가지는 의미를 풍부히 하고자 한다. 둘째, 연구자는 이론에 대한 단순한 소개와 도입의 필요성을 강조하는 것에 그치는 것이 아니라, 그에 대한 비판적 이해를 함께 도모하고자 한다. 이를 위해 이 글에서는 경합적 민주주의 이론을 비판하는 기존의 논의들을, 숙의 민주주의와의 이론적 비교에 주안점을 두면서, 의미 있는 몇 가지 주제로 연구자 나름의 시각에 따라 차별화하여 각각의 내용을 고찰한다. 연구자는 경합적 민주주의 이론이 숙의적 접근에 대한 유용한 이론적 대안이 될 수 있음을 제안하지만, 그에 대한 비판적 재해석도 중요한 것으로 결론짓고자 한다. Contemporarily, Agonistic democracy theory has been considered as the remarkably dominant one of alternative approaches against the theoretical camp supporting deliberative democracy or deliberative public sphere. Paying attention to this, this research tries to investigate, critically, the significance and limits of agonistic democracy theory, especially with the comparison with deliberative approach in the level of theoretical discussion. First, this researcher shows the following 3 models to contribute to our understanding of it; arendtial model, Mouffe model, and Connolly model. Each model provides significant discussions concerning the formulation of agonistic democracy theory aspiring toward pluralistic democracy. Furthermore, this research classifies the existing theoretical discussions on limits of the agonistic democracy theory into some disputatious subjects. Based on this critical review, this researcher suggests not only agonistic democracy theory as the more receptive theory to the realistic understanding of democratic politics and public communications, than deliberative approaches, but also emphasizes the theoretical limits arising from the contradictory and inconsistent aspects embedded in its" internal logics.

언론 위기 담론에 대한 비판적 고찰 : 언론 연구자 심층 인터뷰를 토대로

이 연구의 목적은 언론 위기 담론을 비판적으로 고찰하고 이를 토대로 언론 위기 담론에 대한 향후의 언론학적 도전 과제가 무엇인지를 탐색해 보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 연구자는 2000년대 이후 폭증한 일련의 언론 위기론에 관한 언론 연구자들의 인식과 전망을 질문한 심층 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 연구자는 심층 인터뷰 결과를 토대로 한국 언론의 위기 담론의 문제적인 성격들을 주제화하고 언론 위기 담론의 위기 구성성과 정치성을 토의하는 한편 언론 위기 담론에 대한 언론학 실천의 향후 방향과 도전 과제를 논의하였다. 이 연구는 언론 위기가 언론학의 중요한 탐구 대상이라면 동시에 언론 위기에 대한 담론 또한 비판적인 성찰의 대상이 되어야 한다는 문제의식을 토대로 우리 언론 위기 담론의 맹점을 돌아보았다는 데 의의가 있다. The purpose of this study is to examine the news media crisis discourse, and to explore the future academic challenges for elaborating news media crisis discourse. The researcher conducted an in-depth interview asking media researchers" perceptions and prospects on a series of the crisis discourse of news media that have exploded since the 2000s. Based on the results of the interview, this researcher thematicize the problematic characteristics of the crisis discourse of the Korean news media and discuss the crisis-constitutiveness and political effects of the media crisis discourse and the future directions and challenges of elaoborating it. If the press crisis is an crucial subject of journalism Studies, the discourse on it must also be the essential subject of critical reflection. The significance of this study is that it looks back at the blind spots of so far press crisis discourse.

빅데이터 활용 선거 기사의 특성과 문제점

이 연구는 19대 대선에서 뉴스 미디어들이 빅데이터 분석을 활용하여 생산한 선거 기사가 갖는 특성을 실증 분석하고, 그 문제점과 개선 방안에 관한 함의를 고찰한다. 이를 위해 선거 운동기간 국내 주요 신문, 방송, 인터넷 매체가 생산한 선거 기사 중 빅데이터가 활용된 기사를 전수 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 언론들이 유권자들이 빅데이터 결과를 해석할 때 주의해야 할 필수적 정보 제공에 부족함이 있으며, 전통 여론조사와 차별화되는 빅데이터 분석의 장점을 제대로 구현하지 못하고 있음을 실증한다. 국내 언론들의 빅데이터 활용 보도가 전통 여론조사 보도의 오류와 바람직하지 않은 저널리즘적 관행을 답습하기보다 고품질 선거보도에 기여하기 위해서는 여러 개선이 필요하다는 것이 연구의 함의다. 결론적으로 이 연구는 바람직한 빅데이터 선거 보도 정착을 돕기 위한 법제도적 논의의 시작이 필요하다는 이 연구의 정책적 함의를 제언한다. This study aims to examine the characteristics and its problematic aspects of News produced by the utilization of “Big Data analysis” techniques. Our reseachers analyzed, for the pupose of not only scrutinizing the using practices of big data in news, but also comparing its examined results with those of parlaying big data technique into news, a population of the 19th Korean presidential election news using big data analysis produced by news media(major newspapers, broadcasting news media, and internet news media). The research finding provides clear empirical evidence for the main two implications of this study. First, News media seem to be generally neglecful of providing an essential detail for news readers as voter to help appropriately understanding big data analysis. Second, they failed to show greater differentiation for better election news of providing correct, credible, and, thus, fruitfull high-quality informations to contribute to more understanding public opinion, than the well-established news coverage utilizing traditional opinion poll techniques.

네이버 · 다음 모바일 포털 뉴스 플랫폼의 19대 대통령 선거기사 분석

본 연구는 19대 대선 공간에서 포털의 모바일 뉴스사이트가 배열한 선거 뉴스를 분석함으로써, 정치 커뮤니케이션에서 포털의 역할과 그 함의를 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 모바일 포털인 네이버와 다음의 19대 대통령 선거 뉴스 섹션의 기사에서 다뤄진 매체, 이슈와 주제, 후보자 분포를 살펴보고, 의미연결망분석을 시도하였다. 연구 결과 포털의 선거보도에서 통신사 기사는 신문, 방송에 비해 더 많이 다뤄지고 있었으며, 두 포털별로 후보자 출현 빈도는 물론 뉴스 중심어 의미연결망 구조에서도 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 동일한 선거 현실에 대한 의미 연관이 서로 다른 뉴스현실을 뉴스 이용자들에게 차별적으로 제공하고 있음을 시사하면서, 동시에 특정 매체가 선택적으로 선호되는 포털 뉴스 배열의 의미를 질문케 한다. 본 연구의 주요 발견은 정치커뮤니케이션 과정에서 강한 영향력을 행사하는 한국의 미디어 플랫폼의 역할과 책임에 대해 새로운 차원의 정책적 접근과 사회적 관심을 갖게 한다. In this study, we selected two mobile portals, NAVER and Daum, - two of the most popular online news platforms for news consumption in Korea - for the analysis of 19th presidential election news reports. In particular, we tried to identify characteristics of the media coverage of news and issues that are delivered through the portal news platforms during the 19th Presidential Election campaign periods. We found that there were significant differences in media channels used for the distribution of news media and media coverage provided by those platforms and media channels. The main findings of this study suggest that alternative ways to conceptualize what is news media and the roles of new media technologies to properly address social responsibility in the processes of political communication for Korean society.
