We study that their optimal extraction condition honey maesil (Prunus mume) extracts to health functional food were extracted with the honey. The extraction ration was in the condition of 1 maesil and 1.5 honey weight for 2 months. As standard ingredient, citric acid were determined 10.2mg/g in honey maesil extracts by HPLC. Cyan compound was not detected by the picrate method. Also Escherichia coli was not detected by 3M paper method. The honey maesil extracts contained free sugars as fructose and glucose (43.5%), and sucrose (1.5%). These results suggest that honey is the effective extracts method for the health functional food in maesil extracts.

Propolis is a sticky material like resin made from plant growing point which are collected by bees, then mixed with bee saliva enzyme. It is used to keep bee colony safe by applying inside of bee hive. The propolis, it is necessary to extract the active ingredient in raw material, mainly extracted by the ethyl alcohol. Ethanol extracted propolis collected from different regions in Korea, we compared the total flavonoids and total phenolic contents. The average of total flavonoids content of propolis were 6.1% in central regions, 5.7% in southern regions, however, propolis in Jeju island represented the average value of 0.44%. The other areas showed a value of 7.4%. The total phenolic contents of propolis were 21.8% in the central region, 20.9% in southern regions, 13.7% in Jeju, and the other areas showed a value of 29.4%. Although some differences depending on the region, the propolis produced in Korea has been as the substance that is rich in flavonoids and phenolics.

Propolis, bee glue is a sticky substances, which is used to prevent corruption of the ones who broke into the hive, and which is known as a substance that inhibits the growth of microorganisms within the hive. In order to use this propolis, is required to extract the active ingredients from the raw propolis. Mainly goes through the process of extraction with ethanol. Propolis is registered as health functional food for food and drug safety with a valid registration which is anti-oxidant effects and anti microbial effects of oralflora. In this study, in order to determine the antioxidant effect of propolis produced in various regions collected 58 regions. Antioxidant effects were tested by DPPH free radical scavenging effects method. Propolis concentrations were prepared with 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000μg, by the free radical scavenging effects were 500μg Gangwon region showed higher value, 50~100μg Gyeong-gi and Chungcheong region were found to be in the high, Jeolla, Gyeongsang region in the 100~500μg was higher. More than a certain concentration was to determine antioxidant falling rather. These results can be said to suggest if you use the edible excess should be avoided. And then, Jeju lower than in the other regions were shown to be higher with increasing concentration. The propolis of Jeju Island, unlike in other regions the same amount of propolis antioxidant effects appeared low.

Bee venom (Apis mellifera) has been used inflammatory diseases in Korean traditional medicine. The main component of bee venom is melittin that enhances the activity phospholipase A₂ and D. However, the molecular mechanism for melittin in hepatocytes apoptosis is still not cleared. In this study, we examined the effect of melittin in ethanol induced hepatocytes apoptosis. Melittin treatment was increased antiapoptotic activity of bcl-2 and bcl-xL, reduced pro-apoptotic activity of bax, cytochrome c, caspase-3, -9 and PARP in ethanol induced hepatocytes apoptosis. These result suggest that melittinin inhibits hepatocytes apoptosis. Therefore, melittin may be effective therapeutic agent for alcohol liver disease.
국산 프로폴리스의 Helicobacter pyrori 억제효과

Propolis possesses antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anaesthetic and immunostimulating activities. The aim of this study was to evaluated chemical composition and in vitro anti-Helicobacter pylori activity of eight propolis ethanolic extracts form different region in Korea. The chemical composition of eight Korean propolis was investicated by absorption spectrophotomety and UHPLC. Total penolic and total flavonoids content ranged between $21{\pm}1.5$ and $31{\pm}1.8$ gallic acid g/100 g and $7.2{\pm}0.9$ and $24.4{\pm}1.9$ quercetin g/100 g, respectively. The p-coumaric acid as standard components content ranged between $0.29{\pm}0.00$ and $2.34{\pm}0.02mg/g$ using UHPLC. Cinnamic acid content between $0.43{\pm}0.00$ and $1.33{\pm}0.01mg/g$. 80% ethanolic extract of propolis against H. pylori was evaluated by using the disc diffusion method. Ethanol was used as a control. Mean diameters of H. pylori growth inhibition using $10{\mu}g/mL$, $50{\mu}g/mL$ or $100{\mu}g/mL$ ethanol propolis per disc were 0, ranging from 0.9 to 2.1 mm and from 1.9 to 3.5 mm, respectively. In conclusion, variation in the chemical composition of Korean propolis were mainly due to the difference in the preferred regional plants visited by honeybees. Also Korean propolis possesses considerable antibacterial activity against H. pylori. There was not confirmed a correlation between the chemical composion contens and anti-H. pylori effect. The potential of propolis in the prevention or treatment of H. pylori infection is worth further extensive evaluation.

Honeydew honey is made by honeybee from sugary excretions of plant sucking insects and has long been known as a healthy food that benefits diabetes in Korea. In the present study, we took minerals and proximate analyses for its nutritional evaluation. As a result, contents of crude protein, fat, ash and moisture in honeydew honey were 0.43%, 0.07%, 1.10%, and 18.65%, respectively. In the carbonate analysis, invert sugar occupied 53% in honeydew honey and conformed to the honeydew honey standard in Codex. 10 minerals (such as Ca, Fe, Na, K, Mg, Cu, P, Zn, Mn and S) were detected in honeydew honey. Among them, K content (441.6 mg/100 g) was 10 times higher than that of other minerals. These results suggest that honeydew honey is a food containing the essential nutrients as well as the minerals.

In this study, we evaluated the stability of oxidative stability in order to register the pupa as a new edible food material, which can be mass-produced in beekeeping farms and rich in nutrition. The results of the analysis of the oxidation stability of the pupae showed that the acid value was 2.92 mg/g and the peroxide value was 1.94 meq/kg, which were suitable for the insect food standard of food circulation. Therefore, these results suggest that drone pupae can be used as a new food material.
국산 아카시아꿀 내 Abscisic acid의 UPLC 정량분석법 개발

Acacia honey, which was collected from nectar of Robinia pseudoacacia by honeybee, is produced more than any other honey in Korea. It is known to have antibacterial activity against Helicobacter pylori that induced gastric disease. In present study, quantitative analysis for abscisic acid which was reported as anti-H. pylori compound in acacia honey was developed and validated by UPLCDAD. The UPLC method was established using Halo C18 column (2.1×100mm, 2μm) that eluted gradient system by acetonitrile and 0.1% phosphoric acid at 263nm of detection wavelength. The method was completely validated by specificity, linearity, limit of detection, limit of quantification, precision and accuracy. Also, the established UPLC method was possible to quantitative analysis for abscisic acid in Korean acacia honeys collected from 8 different areas. These results suggest that the developed UPLC method could be sufficiently applied for quality evaluation of Korean acacia honeys.

Honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) venom (PBV) is a good candidate for development as a therapeutic modality. The gout is a form of inflammatory arthritis caused by excess uric acid in the bloodstream. Gout causes sudden severe joint pain. To investigate in vitro xanthine oxidase inhibitory properties of PBV for gout. PBV was studied for in vitro xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity using a spectrophotometric method and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 expression after 24 hr of monosodium urate crystal (MSU) treatment when MMP-9 production reached a maximum in RAW 264.7 cells. The highest xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity was 94.7% in the 10 μg/mL PBV. The treatment of 10 μg/mL PBV showed an inhibitory effect of MMP-9, gout inflammatory marker. PBV was evaluated the xanthine oxidase and MMP-9 inhibitory potential in our study. We suggest that PBV could be used an excellent substance for gout prevention.
생물학적 원료의약품 사용을 위한 꿀벌 봉독의 바이러스 안전성 검증

Honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) venom (BV) is a good candidate for development as a therapeutic modality for the treatment of acne vulgaris. However, BV has been restricted in the development of medical agents because BV has not been registered as an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API). The aim of this study was to evaluate viral safety of BV, as biological origin agents. The viral diseases of honeybees were reported at least 18 virus types. Using RT-PCR we evaluated infected honeybees, BV isolated bee venom sac from virus infected honeybee, and BV collected from honeybees using BV collector for the presence of the seven bee viruses, complete genome sequence including Sacbrood virus (SBV), Black queen cell virus (BQCV), Deformed wing virus (DWV), Chronic bee paralysis virus (CBPV), Acute bee paralysis virus (ABPV), Kashmir bee virus (KBV), and Israeli acute paralysis virus (IAPV). The SBV, BQCV, DWV, CBPV, ABPV, KBV, and IAPV were not detected both BV isolated bee venom sac from virus infected honeybee and BV collected from honeybees using BV collector. According to these results, we have meanwhile observed that BV and BV sac might be safety for bee viruses contamination. We suggest that BV could be used a good candidate for API.
