        다낭난소증후군에서 인슐린수용체기질 유전자다형성과 인슐린 저항성의 관련성에 관한 연구

        Background: Insulin resistance is a key factor in the pathogenesis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and several candidate genes involved in insulin action such as insulin receptor or insulin recpetor substrate (IRS) have been investigated. In this study, we examined the genetic effects of the IRS-1 and IRS-2 genes on the metabolic and reproductive features in women with PCOS. Methods: 125 patients with PCOS and 344 regular cycling controls were enrolled. Analysis of the polymorphisms of Gly972Arg in the IRS-1 gene and Gly1057Asp in the IRS-2 gene was performed and oral glucose tolerance tests and hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp tests were done. Results: The genotype frequencies of the Gly972Arg polymorphism in the IRS-1 gene and the Gly1057Asp polymorphism in the IRS-2 gene were not significantly different between the women with PCOS and the controls. Gly972Arg polymorphism of the IRS-1 gene was extremely rare in both groups. PCOS women with the IRS-2 Asp1057Asp genotype showed significantly higher hirsutism scores, higher levels of free testosterone and higher post-load 60, 90, and 120 min plasma glucose levels compared to those women with the Gly1057Gly or Gly1057Asp genotype. In contrast, the control women with the Asp1057Asp genotype showed significantly lower post-load 60, 90, and 120 min plasma glucose levels compared with those women with the Gly1057Gly or Gly1057Asp genotype. Conclusion: Gly972Arg polymorphism of the IRS-1 gene was extremely rare in Korean women. Gly1057Asp polymorphism of the IRS-2 gene was associated with the phenotypic features of PCOS such as hirsutism, hyperandrogenemia and hyperglycemia, but it was not associated with the insulin sensitivity index. In conclusion, Gly1057Asp polymorphism of the IRS-2 gene may not have a significant impact on insulin resistance in Korean women with PCOS.         석고법에 의한 인체목형 제작 : 치수감정을 중시으로

        The purpose of this study was to manufacturing of personal dress form by replica method for draping. The objects were physical body and personal dress form of their torso somatotype. Comparing the measurements of Martin method and of sliding gauge method to examine the fitness of dress form. Dress form was found bigger than physical body. This was due to the transformation in processing that wrap a Suck-Go bandage and pack a polyurethane foam. On the basis of the result, manufacturing of personal dress form and foundation by draping, it was wearing done test on the physical body, through the procedure that investigate the possibility of usage and the manufacture of personal dress form.

        Adsorption characteristics of benzene on resin-based activated carbon under humid conditions

        VOCs removal under humid conditions is an important issue in the various industries. However,adsorption capacity of commercial coconut-shell–based activated carbon (CAC) is diminishedconsiderably in high relative humidity. In this study, we prepared resin-based activated carbon (RAC)from strong cation-exchange resins consisting of polystyrene with divinylbenzene, and investigatedbenzene adsorption characteristics under humid conditions. The results of water isotherm andbreakthrough experiments revealed that RAC adsorbed no water vapor in low P/P0 region and theamount of adsorbed benzene did not decrease significantly with the addition of water vapor, indicatinghigh water resistance compared to CAC. This high resistance of RAC to water vapor can be contributed bythe low content of hydrophilic sites (metal impurity and surface oxygen), confirmed by XPS and ICPresults. The relationship between RAC porosity and benzene adsorption under humid conditions was alsoinvestigated. Benzene adsorption under humid conditions was influenced significantly by the narrowmicropore volume of RAC. As the narrow micropore volume of RAC decreased, the adsorption of watervapor was inhibited, so that the decline in the time of breakthrough at relative humidity at 70% wasconsiderably alleviated from 44 to 1.2%.

      • Cardiac Manifestations of Inborn Error of Metabolism in Pediatric Patients

        Among the various etiologies of cardiomyopathy, inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) is one of the underlying causes, especially in the pediatric population. The accurate identification of the IEM of cardiomyopathy may lead to better prognosis through disease-specific management. Therefore, clinicians should always keep in mind the possibility that IEM may be one of the underlying etiologies of cardiomyopathy, and carry out multi-systematic clinical approach to diagnosis of IEM. This review covers the pathophysiology, clinical presentations, typical laboratory findings, diagnosis, and proper treatment of each type of IEM-induced cardiomyopathy in pediatric patients to gain a deeper understanding of this subject.

        Peppermint Oil Promotes Hair Growth without Toxic Signs

        Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is a plant native to Europe and has been widely used as a carminative and gastric stimulant worldwide. This plant also has been used in cosmetic formulations as a fragrance component and skin conditioning agent. This study investigated the effect of peppermint oil on hair growth in C57BL/6 mice. The animals were randomized into 4 groups based on different topical applications: saline (SA), jojoba oil (JO), 3% minoxidil (MXD), and 3% peppermint oil (PEO). The hair growth effects of the 4-week topical applications were evaluated in terms of hair growth, histological analysis, enzymatic activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and gene expression of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), known bio-markers for the enhanced hair growth. Of the 4 experimental groups, PEO group showed the most prominent hair growth effects; a significant increase in dermal thickness, follicle number, and follicle depth. ALP activity and IGF-1 expression also significantly increased in PEO group. Body weight gain and food efficiency were not significantly different between groups. These results suggest that PEO induces a rapid anagen stage and could be used for a practical agent for hair growth without change of body weight gain and food efficiency.

      • 절연성 및 열전도성의 특징을 가지는 폴리이미드 필름의 연구

        본 연구는 반도체, 자동차 및 디스플레이등의 전자기기에서 발생하는 열을 효과적으로 제거하기 위하여 사용되는 소재로써 절연성을 유지하면서 열전도성의 특징을 부여하는 폴리이미드 필름의 연구이다. 기존에 알려진 방법으로 폴리이미드 수지의 열전도성을 개선하기 위한 방법으로 전구체 용액 중에 열전도성 물질을 분산시킨 후, 이 분산액을 이용하여 필름을 형성할 수 있으나 In-Plane의 열전도성을 증가하는 방면 Through-Plane의 열전도성은 감소하는 현상이 발생한다. 또한, 과다한 열전도성 물질의 함량은 응집체를 형성하여 필름의 표면으로부터 돌출하여 외관상 불량이 발생하거나 필름 자체의 기계적 특성이 저하되는 문제를 발생시킨다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제점을 근본적으로 해결할 수 있는 방법은 제시하고자 한다.

        당뇨병신경병과 항암제유발신경병의 진단 척도

        Diabetic neuropathy and chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy are complex disorders affecting different nerve fiber group and remain as major source of morbidity and decreased quality of life of the patients. Given the recent advance in understanding the pathophysiological mechanism of these neuropathies and the development of new drugs, it is imperative to set proper scales to rate the severity of symptoms or signs. Moreover, well-designed, highly sensitive and valid scales could get scientific reliability and clinical utility if they are combined with objective neurophysiological measures. This review will discuss about the reliable and validated scales used in these common toxic and metabolic neuropathies.

        스트레스 집단 구분에 따른 환경색채 감정 평가

        The purpose of this study is to classify the groups according to the stress level for the composition of the consumer-centered healing environment, and to evaluate how the stress feelings of the environmental colors differ according to the groups. This will contribute to more efficient and user-centered space construction in the future planning of healing environment colors. The first method of this study was to classify the groups by measuring the stress level of the evaluator using the stress rating scale (PWI). Second, stress emotion evaluation environmental colors were produced by referring to the color data of domestic healing environment. Third, stress emotion vocabulary was extracted from previous studies related to color emotions to evaluate stress emotions for environmental colors on a five-point scale. As a result, the higher the saturation, the higher the saturation, the more positively the stress emotion was evaluated. Second, the color of the high brightness / low saturation range showed a high level of depressive and boring stress feelings regardless of the color, and a high degree of comfortable and free feelings. Third, depressive emotions in the medium and high saturation of the warm color group were found to be different among the groups, and in the G color, various stress feelings were different among the groups compared to other colors.
