This study was conducted to elucidate the basic theory of the formativeness of structures, which is preferred as a new genre in flower decoration, and how they are formed into works. Expression techniques and symbolic meanings of works were analyzed. Through literature study, the types of expression techniques of structures constituting the structural frame of floral decorations were defined, and 39 types of flower works produced and published using actual structures were analyzed according to each type of structure expression technique. The flower decoration works to be analyzed were the works that the researcher produced and presented using actual structures at the exhibition, and the shape of the structures applied to the flower decoration works and the formative technique centering on the representative formative theories used in gardens and flower decorations, analysis of works, materials used, etc. were classified and analyzed respectively. Since most of the structures that make up the framework of the work are composed of shipping materials, the principle of three-dimensional modeling was applied to the structural modeling, and the possibility of making various works could be seen through the basic modeling theory and method of making works. The representative structural modeling forms expressed in flower decoration are cross forming, bunch forming, parallel forming, square forming, horizontal forming, plant forming, wire forming, circle forming, cone forming, paper forming, texture forming, hanging forming, space forming, etc. The types and characteristics of structural modeling expression techniques were divided into weaving, confusion, ladder, filling, striping, netting, knotting, propping, winding, threading, bending, plaiting, pressing, collage, conneting, floating, etc. 본 연구는 화훼장식에서 새로운 장르로 선호하고 있는 구조물의 조형성에 대한 기초이론과 어떻게 조형되어 작품으로 만들어지는가를 밝히기 위해 수행되었으며, 실제 조형 이론이 적용된 작품 39종을 선정하여 각 작품의 조형 형태와 표현기법 및 작품의 상징적 의미를 분석하였다. 문헌연구를 통해 화훼장식의 구조적 틀을 구성하는 구조물의 표현기법 유형을 정의하였고, 각각의 구조물 표현기법 유형에 따라 실제 구조물을 이용하여 제작 발표한 화훼작품 39종을 분석하였다. 분석대상 화훼장식 작품은 연구자가 작품전에서 실제 구조물을 이용하여 제작하여 발표 전시한 작품을 대상으로 하였으며, 정원이나 화훼장식에서 사용되고 있는 대표적 조형이론을 중심으로 화훼장식 작품에 적용된 구조물의 형태, 조형 기법, 작품해석, 사용재료 등으로 구분하여 각각 분석하였다. 작품의 골격을 이루는 구조는 대부분 선적재료에 의해 구성되므로 입체조형의 원리를 구조 조형에 적용하여 기초 조형이론과 작품제작 방법 등으로 다양한 작품제작의 가능성을 볼 수 있었다. 화훼장식에서 표현되고 있는 대표적인 구조물 조형 형태를 교차조형, 다발조형, 병렬조형, 사각형조형, 수평조형, 식물조형, 와이어조형, 원조형, 원추형조형, 종이조형, 질감조형, 매달음조형, 공간조형 등으로 구분할 수 있으며, 구조물 조형 표현기법들의 유형 및 특징은 weaving, confusion, ladder, filling, striping, netting, knotting, propping, winding, threading, bending, plaiting, pressing, collage, conneting, floating 등으로 구분하였다.
