통계 전문가 시스템(Statistical Expert System, SES) 또는 Knowledge-Based Statistical Consulation System은 "통계적 방법에 의한 연구 과정(계획,자료수집,분석,결과해석 등)에서 발생하는 문제를 효과적,효율적으로 해결하기 위해 통계 전문가 또는 통계 상담자의 경험과 지식을 내장하여 이를 처리할 수 있도록 설계된 전산 시스템"으로 정의할 수 있을 것이다.SES를 구축함으로써 기대되는 효과는 1.초보사용자의 통계기법 오용을 방지하고, 2.기존 통계 software가 지니지 못한 탐색 및 설명기능, 결과해석기능 등을 제공하며, 3.사용자(초보자 및 전문가)에게 교육 및 통계전략에 대한 실험 환경을 제공하고, 4.전문가로 하여금 일상적이고 기계적인 업무로부터 벗어나 좀 더 기본적인 문제 해결에 전념할 수 있도록 보조적인 역할을 수행하는 것 등이다.행하는 것 등이다.

다구찌 방법의 핵심인 피라미터 설계의 원리는 제품의 성능특성이 잡음에 둔감하도록 제품이나 공정을 설계하자는 것이다. 다구찌는 이 피라미터 설계를 위해 소위 직교배열이라는 실험계획의 사용을 추천하고 있다. 본 논문의 목적은 이와 같은 다구찌 직교배열의 구성원리를 밝힘으로써 앞으로 보다 적절한 활용과 개선을 위한 자료를 마련하는데 있다. Parameter design is the core of the Taguchi method, and its purpose is to design product or processes such that the performance of product becomes robust to noise. Taguchi recommends to use the so called orthogonal arrays for parameter design. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the principles involved in constructing the Taguchi orthogonal arrays. Understanding such principles may be useful for finding better ways of utilizing the Taguchi orthogonal arrays as well as for developing better experimental designs.

Industrial engineering has played a central role in creating knowledge on quality control and reliability engineering (Q&R) and delivering such knowledge to various industries. This special issue paper is prepared in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers (KIIE), and includes discussions on how Q&R areas have evolved over almost 100 years and on the current domestic and international trends of Q&R activities in industry as well as in academia. To identify academic research trends, all Q&R related papers published in the Journal of the Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers (JKIIE) and IE Interfaces are examined and classified according to their research topics. Recent Q&R related papers published in IIE Transactions are also examined and classified in a similar manner, and the papers published in KIIE journals are compared with those in IIE Transactions with respect to the research areas emphasized, yearly trend of each research area, type of systems studied, research approaches and methodologies adopted, etc. In addition, quality control activities in domestic industries are evaluated based on a recent survey conducted by Korea Productivity Center, and for domestic reliability engineering activities, government-led projects and their accomplishments over the past decade are introduced. Based on the above, recommendations are made for the future directions of academic research and Q&R activities in industry.

During the past several decades, the Taguchi robust design method has been widely used in various fields successfully. On the other hand, some researchers and practitioners have criticized the method with respect to the way of utilizing orthogonal arrays, the signal-to-noise ratio as a performance measure, data analysis methods, etc., and proposed alternative approaches to robust design. This paper introduces the Taguchi method first, evaluates the validity of the criticisms, and discusses advantages and disadvantages of each alternative. Finally, research issues to be addressed for effective robust design are presented.
작전부대의 인원편성 최적화를 위한 워게임 전투실험 방법에 대한 연구

Warfighting experimentation is an important process for identifying requirements against changing military environment and for verifying proposed measures for reforming military service. The wargame simulation experiment is regarded as one of the most effective means to warfighting experimentation, and its importance is increasing than ever. On the other hand, the results of wargame experiments could be unreliable due to the uncertainty involved in the experimental procedure. To improve the reliability of the experimental results, systematic experimental procedures and analysis methods must be employed, and the design and analysis of experiments technique can be used effectively for this purpose. In this paper, AWAM, a wargame simulator, is used to optimize the organization of operational troops. The simulation model describes a warfighting situation in which the 'survival rate of our force' and the 'survival rate of the enemy force' are considered as responses, 'the numbers of weapons in the squad' as control factors, and 'the uncontrollable variables of the battlefield' as noise factors. In addition, for the purpose of effective experimentation, the product array approach in which the inner and outer orthogonal arrays are crossed is adopted. Then, the signal-to-noise-ratio for each response and the desirabilities for the means and standard deviations of responses are calculated and used to determine a compromise optimal solution. The experimental procedures and analysis methods developed in this paper can provide guidelines for designing and analyzing wargame simulation experiments for similar warfighting situations.
