New record of Pleuronema marinum Dujardin, 1841 (Protozoa, Ciliophora) from South Korea

During a field survey of Korean marine ciliates, we collected Pleuronema marinum from a brackish water sample. It is characterized by the presence of a contractile vacuole in mid-body, rather than the subterminal/ terminal contractile vacuole as in other congeners. The cells were examined in vivo and based on protargol and ‘wet’ silver nitrate impregnation. In addition, the nuclear 18S rRNA gene was sequenced using a single cell. The Korean population morphologically and molecularly resembles a Chinese population of P. marinum. Historical review of the species concludes that 1) two or more species have been assigned into P. marinum, 2) the position of contractile vacuole (e.g., in mid-body) is a valid character state, and 3) P. marinum is probably a rare species. Here we provide a monographic treatment of P. marinum to clarify the issue and for further studies of relevant species. Considering there are about 40 nominal species and complex nomenclatural acts in the genus Pleuronema, further studies should provide descriptions based on protargol and ‘wet’ silver impregnation with marker gene(s).

This paper analyzes the progress of Japanese long-term care insurance, and examines the results and problems obtained during the process. Based on the results, this paper attempted to suggest a solution to the problems of home care service for the elderly which the Korean society is currently facing. According to Japan's report“Consciousness Survey on the Health of the Elderly”, 43.3% of the respondents wanted to receive home care services. Long-term care insurance for the elderly, which supports home life, is institutionally implemented, but in practice, the number of the elderly who wants to live in care facilities has increased. And the problem with Japan's welfare policy for the elderly was excessive financial spending. It is not only practically difficult for the beneficiaries of long-term care Insurance to live in the communities and homes to where they are accustomed, but it is also difficult to eliminate the anxiety of the families who have the burden of care. Because the needs of the elderly and their families, who are the beneficiaries of long-term care insurance, were different, so home care services are needed to provide individually them. It may be an alternative to eliminate the anxiety of the elderly and their families who are the beneficiaries of long-term care insurance. Prior to the fiscal deterrence policy, the central government and local governments should focus on the provision of home care services for the elderly and maintenance of related facilities, so that the beneficiaries of long-term care insurance and their families can live in a safe and high-quality life in their community where they are accustomed to living.
New record of five ciliate species from temporary ponds on a grass lawn

We identified 22 ciliate species, including five unrecorded ciliate species, from temporary ponds on a grass lawn. The five unrecorded species are as follows: class Nassophorea - Pseudomicrothorax agilis Mermod, 1914, Nassula exigua Kahl, 1931, class Colpodea - Cyrtolophosis mucicola Stokes, 1885, Maryna ovata (Gelei, 1950) Foissner, 1993, and class Spirotrichea - Meseres corlissi Petz & Foissner, 1992. Most of these 22 ciliate species disappeared from a raw culture within a few days (probably encystment), and a few cells were available from some species that resulted in incomplete identifications (e.g., genus-level). About the unrecorded five ciliate species, they are small in size (<60 μm in vivo), and two of them live in a hyaline dwelling-tube, which is easily deserted by a cell with a stress. Their taxonomic classification is summarized as three classes, five orders, five families, and five genera. Here, we provide brief descriptions, micrographs of their morphology, and some remarks.

In this paper, we solve one-dimensional Poisson's equation the gate-bias dependence of 2DGE variation by charge control mechanisum including the depletion with of GaAs layer. In addition, we derive analytically schroedinger's equation by new qauntum well approximation in order to include the broadening effect of the quantum well in the cut off regime. Proposed, analytical model for Ⅰ-Ⅴ characteristics of a Al Ga As / GaAs HEAT device can be described well the depletion with and conduction band energy level of GaAs. The resulting Ⅰ-Ⅴ characteristics describe quite well the effect of GaAs doping concentration over a wide range of operation.
