Weather data is an important variable for the estimation value of the program for evaluating energy performance. The difference in data value of major weather elements used in weather data (temperature, insolation amount) were compared and analyzed. It was found that temperature showed similar values but insolation amount took different values. Especially in Ulsan, since the Meteorological Association does not measure insolation amount. To optimize the incident solar radiation, the solar azimuth angles are needed for solar photovoltaic systems. Test results shows that the 60° installation angel higher efficient than the 30° installation angel in winter.

This paper presents a smart monitoring technique for photovoltaic power systems by using wire and wireless communication networks in which the RS-232/484 and the Zigbee communication networks are inherently established respectively. In the proposed monitoring systems, environmental data sequences and the output power measured by sensors in photovoltaic systems are transferred to PC systems via two communication networks. We made electronic hardware boards for sensors and communication networks to construct its real-time monitoring system and carry out experiments for demonstrating reliability of the proposed monitoring system.
국내 주요도시의 일조시간데이터를 이용한 시간당전일사량 산출 및 분석

Computer simulation of buildings and solar energy systems are being used increasingly in energy assessments and design. Thispaper discusses the possibility of using sunshine duration data instead of global hourly solar irradiation (GHSI) data for localities with abundant data on sunshine duration. For six locations in South Korea where global radiation is currently measured, the global radiation was calculated using Sunshine Duration Radiation Model (SDRM), compared andanalyzed. Results of SDRM has been compared with the measured data on the coefficients of determination (R2), root-mean-square error (RMSE) and mean bias error (MBE). This study recommends the use of sunshine duration based irradiation models if measured solar radiation data is not available.

A photovoltaic (PV) generator is significantly regarded as one important alternative of renewable energy systems recently. Fault detection and diagnosis of engineering dynamic systems is a fundamental issue to timely prevent unexpected damages in industry fields. This paper presents an intelligent monitoring approach and fault detection technique for PV generator systems by means of artificial neural network and statistical signal detection theory. We devise a multi-Fourier neural network model for representing dynamics of PV systems and apply a general likelihood ratio test (GLRT) approach for investigating our decision making algorithm in fault detection and diagnosis. We make use of a test-bed of ubiquitous sensor network (USN) based PV monitoring systems for testing our proposed fault detection methodology. Lastly, a real-time experiment is accomplished for demonstrating its reliability and practicability.

A novel design technology for a high frequency electronic ballast for metal-halide discharge lamps is proposed. A PFC technique is adopted to get unit power factor and output frequency alteration technique is adopted to avoid acoustic resonance. For characteristics evaluation, the designed electronic ballast is presented using normalized parameter. To reduce losses of the ballast, ZVS control technique is adopted and the maximum flux density of magnetic core for inductor should be kept lower. The electronic ballast for 250[W] metal-halide discharge lamp is implemented and 96[%] efficiency and low conducted EMI level are accomplished.
