To investigate the effects of yellow soybean powder on serum lipid level and enzyme activities, male Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats were given hyperlipidemic diets for 6 weeks. Rats(n=8) were divided into three groups consisting the normal group(N), hyperlipidemic diets group(C) and hyperlipidemic diets and yellow soybean powder group(YSP). YSP group lowered triglyceride, total lipid, phospholpid, ester-cholesterol and free-cholesterl than control group. YSP group lowered total-cholesterol, VLDL-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol but increased HDL-cholesterol of the serum compared to the control group. Athergenic Index(AI) and LHR(LDL-cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol ratio) of YSP group was decreased by control group (p<0.05). On the other hand, glutamic oxaloacetate transaminase(GOT), glutamic pyruvate transaminase (GTP), lactate dehydrogenase(LDHase) and alkaline phosphatase(ALP) enzymes activities were decreased by hyperlipidemic diets group (C). These results suggest that yellow soybean powder fed a lipid lowering effect in serum of rats.

Purpose: This study investigated the effects of a collaborative study method utilizing a communication skill on the self-esteem and interpersonal relationship ability in nursing college students. Methods: The subjects were a total of 47 university students majoring in nursing. The instruments of self respect and interpersonal relationship ability were used at the beginning, 8<sup>th</sup> weeks after and at the conclusion of the training period. This study is based on an experiment on a subject of a single group for 15 weeks in order to identify the effects of a collaborative study method utilizing a communication skill used by nursing students. Results: The average of the total score for self respect was increased by 0.14 after 15 weeks but were not statistically significant(t=-1.97, p=.056). The average of the total score for interpersonal relationship ability increased by 0.09 on the period of after 8weeks to 15 weeks and by 0.13 on the period of beginning to 15 weeks(t=-2.29, p=.027; t=-2.67, p=.010). However repeated measure using ANOVA of the interpersonal relationship ability revealed a non-significant effect(F=.31, p=.736). Conclusion: The collaborative study method utilizing a communication skill need an almost 15 weeks to change the interpersonal relationship ability and should be used continuously.

Purpose: This study was done to explore the level of life stress, depression, and suicidal ideation and to identify the associated factors of suicidal ideation (SI) among college nursing students. Method: The design of this study was a descriptive survey design using a convenience sampling. Data collection was done using self-questionnaire from 124 students in 2 universities located in Gyeonggi and Chungnam provinces. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: Study participants reported low level of SI, depression, and life stress (44.45±19.21, 8.40±5.94, 40.65±32.17). The 53% of variance in SI was significantly explained by life stress related value (β=.41, p<.001), life stress related to interpersonal relationship with family (β=.19, p=.014), life stress related to interpersonal relationship with friends (β=.34, p<.001), and depression (β=.36, p<.001). Conclusions: The results indicate that to decrease the SI in these students, an active interest in the students is needed to lower stress levels in interpersonal relationships with family and friends, in life stress related to value, and for relief of depression. Suicide prevention programs specific to the level of life stress and depression need to be developed for nursing students.
