Objective: Falling is a common cause of head injury in preschool aged children. We investigated the characteristics of mild head injuries caused by falling and the association between body weight and occurrence of traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Methods: This retrospective observational study was conducted on head-injured preschool-aged children that visited the emergency department from January 2012 to December 2015. Characteristics such as age, sex, weight, free fall height, floor type, and presence of TBI, as defined as cerebral hemorrhage or skull fracture, were investigated. We calculated body weight percentiles by calibrating age and weight and categorized them into four quartile ranges. We grouped all included cases into two groups according to the presence of TBI. The characteristics of the two groups were compared by using chi-square test, and the association with TBI was investigated by using binomial logistic regression. Results: A total of 701 children were included, and TBI was observed in 95 children. Children with TBI were younger. The proportion of children with TBI was higher in the third and fourth quartiles of the body weight group as well as according to soft floor and fall from high height (≥1 m). The odds of soft floor being associated with TBI was higher than the odds for hard floor (odds ratio, 2.734; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.597-4.680). The odds of high height (≥1 m) being associated with TBI was higher than that for low height (odds ratio, 2.306; 95% CI, 1.155-4.601), and the odds ratio for the weight percentile group was 1.228 (95% CI, 1.005-1.499). Conclusion: Prevalence of TBI after falling in preschool-aged children might be associated with high fall-height and body weight quartiles.

This study provides an overview of the Olivetti Project, focusing on Olivetti's entrepreneurial values and spatial culture theory. By analyzing the spatial philosophy of three Pritzker Prize winners involved in the project and their respective design alternatives, the research compares and analyzes predictions for next-generation architectural spaces that embody the phenomenological conditions of convergence. The study highlights that in a computerized work environment shaped by advancements in information and communication technology, system and modularity, flexibility, acceptability, and sustainability emerge as crucial factors in achieving convergence in architectural spaces. Through this study, the interpretation of convergence architectural space as presented by each architect and the design alternatives reflecting their spatial concepts and orientations are examined. Consequently, the study confirms that exploring the historical prediction and experimental process of architectural space evolution in response to industrial changes can serve as a key to converging theories on a universal understanding of future convergence architectural spaces.

This thesis describes the concept of Placeness in urban open spaces and the role that the Velarium can play in creating a sense of place in such areas. Placeness is the quality that makes a place unique and meaningful to people, and it is an important factor in creating a sense of community and fostering a common place experience in urban areas. The Velarium, a retractable canopy used in ancient Roman amphitheaters, can provide shelter in urban open spaces, creating a more comfortable environment for people to gather and engage with their surroundings. By comparing Sony Center and Garden Five, this study aims to identify the factors that contribute to a successful placeness in urban open spaces and to provide insights into how the Velarium can be used as architectural elements.

The purpose of this study is to obtain the data related with the relationship between AE signal characteristics and mechanical behaviors and to examine the residual stress at weld region. Residual stress at weld region was obtained using a hole drilling method and AE test was carried out under four point bending load. Among AE signals, counts and signal strength are used to find out meaning of destructive mechanics. Relationships between plastic zone size and AE counts were investigated. Residual stress of the weldment and PWHT specimens consist of positive and negative values respectively. Regardless of the specimens, as the plastic zone size at notch tip grows, cumulative AE counts increases until some distance. AE signals were absent within an elastic region, regardless of the specimens. Maximum signal strength of the weldment was the highest, followed by PWHT specimen and basemetal.
