Objective: The aim of this study was to report the effect of Korean medicine treatment on Claude's syndrome with ataxia and diplopia. Methods: We applied electroacupuncture, scalp acupuncture, and physical therapy to the patient. Diplopia was assessed with the distance between two images of one object, and ataxia was assessed with the Korean Version of the Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (K-SARA). Results: After 21 days of treatment, diplopia, abnormal extraocular movement, and ataxia were improved on the basis of the K-SARA score. Conclusion: This case demonstrates the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment in improving the symptoms of Claude's syndrome.
자기공명영상 기반 3차원 유한요소모델링을 통한 무릎관절의 파손평가

본 연구에서는 먼저 완전 신전상태의 병변이 없는 26세 남자의 자기공명영상이미지를 기반으로 대퇴골, 경골, 관절연골, 반월상 연골의 정밀한 3차원 재구축을 실시하였다. 재구축된 무릎모델에 인대와 건을 생리학적으로 적합한 위치에 부착시켜 3차원 유한요소모델을 완성시켰다. 뼈, 관절연골, 반월상 연골은 균질성, 등방성 선형탄성거동을 보이는 것으로 고려하였으며, 인대와 건은 트러스 요소와 선형, 비선형 스프링 요소를 사용하여 모델링하였다. 제작된 무릎관절의 유한요소모델을 ABAQUS를 사용하여 비선형 접촉해석을 수행하였다. 수치해석결과로서 조직의 손상과 환자의 통증을 추정하기 위한 중요매개변수로 간주될 수 있는 관절연골과 반월상연골의 접촉압력과 von Mises 응력분포를 계산하였으며, 관절연골과 반월상 연골의 접촉압력과 von Mises 응력분포를 분석하여 무릎관절에 대한 파손평가를 실시하였다. In this study, the femur, the tibia, the articular cartilage and the menisci are three dimensionally reconstructed using MR images of healthy knee joint in full extension of 26-year-old male. Three dimensional finite element model of the knee joint is fabricated on the reconstructed model. Also, the FE models of ligaments and tendons are attached on the biologically suitable position of the FE model. Bones, articular cartilages and menisci are considered as homogeneous, isotropic and linear elastic materials, and ligaments and tendons are modeled as truss element and nonlinear elastic springs. The numerical results show the contact pressure and the von Mises stress distribution in the soft tissues such as articular cartilages and menisci which can be regarded as important parameters to estimate the failure of the tissues and the pain of the patients.

In this research, for non-invasive THR, a unique type of cementless stem, named as a modular stem, is proposed. It consists of two different parts in a stem which can be joined to and separated from each other. Prototypical models of the stem are fabricated using an acryl-based polymer (Vero white 830) and their geometric suitability is manually examined. The strength of the stem to sustain the applied load is evaluated using the finite element method. Finally, various sizes of actual modular stems with circular or rectangular cross-sections are fabricated using a biocompatible Ti alloy (Ti-6Al-4V).

The material properties of human biological tissue such as organ, muscle, skin, tissue and cell are very important to evaluate biomechanical behavior. Especially, the menisci carrying out multiple function in the knee joints are pre-stress state due to complexly anatomical structure. In this study, the residual stress of menisci was estimated by indentation test using cadavers to present more realistic medical simulation. In this study, the femur, the tibia, the articular cartilage and the menisci were three dimensionally reconstructed using MR Images of healthy knee joint in full extension of 26 years old male. Also, three dimensional finite element model of the knee joint was constructed including the models of ligaments and tendons on the reconstructed three dimensional model. Bones were considered to be rigid, articular cartilage and menisci were considered as homogeneous, isotropic and linearly elastic materials and ligaments and tendons were modeled as hyperelastic materials. Based on the results, the effects of various types of menisectomy on the knee joints are clearly elucidated.

Background and objectives : Student support programs in Korean Medicine (KM) college have been not much activated as compared to other colleges. So, this research is aim to offer a baseline data to plan and run any kind of student support programs by understanding Korean Medicine students' preference and satisfaction. Methods : The survey was taken for 4 weeks from 2nd may 2016 to 27th may 2016, asking 162 out of a total of 255 students from $1^{st}$ grade to $6^{th}$ grade (pre-med to med). 3 Korean medicine doctors and 8 general students in Korean medicine college made the questionnaire by reviewing and modifying used questionnaire for student support programs. It consists of 13 questions (3 questions of demographic characteristics, 10 questions of overall awareness about student support programs). Results : 'Advanced clinical training course' was the most preferred with 23.4% among 13 different student support programs when multiple voting was allowed. 'Chinese Medicine college tour' got 21.6%, and 'Major training in Chinese Medicine college (for 17 days)' followed next with 19.4%. Expected satisfaction score to student support programs was 7.30 on average out of 10. Conclusions : Expected satisfaction to student support program was likely to be high. This research can be utilized as a significant assessment and analysis when developing new student support program for Korean Medicine college students.
