The Si-Cu-Ti-Zr-Ni alloys of various compositions were prepared using arc-melting under an argon atmosphere, and the alloys were re-melted several times to ensure chemical homogeneity. The alloyed ingots were melt-spun to produce rapidly solidified ribbons under vacuum in order to prevent oxidation. Finely dispersed silicon particles 50 - 100 nm in diameter mainly consisting of Cu3Si, NiSi2 and TiSi2 phases were formed in the matrices. The alloy ribbons were then fragmented using ball-milling to produce powders. In order to evaluate the electrochemical properties of the alloys, anode electrodes were fabricated by mixing the active alloy materials (80 wt. %) with Ketjenblack® (2 wt. %) as a conductive material and polyamide imide (PAI, 8 wt. %) binder, and the mixtures were dissolved in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP) and SFG6 (10 wt. %). The anode performances of Si-Cu-Ti-Zr-Ni alloy cells were measured in the range 0.01 - 1.5 V (versus Li/Li+). The results showed that the Si68(Cu47Ti34Zr11Ni8)32 alloy ribbons had the highest specific discharge capacities, and the Si68(Cu40Ti40Zr10Ni10)32 alloy ribbons had relatively stable electrochemical properties and cycle performances due to the very fine microstructure including partially distributed amorphous phase. The matrix phases of the Si-Cu-Ti-Zr-Ni alloy ribbons effectively accommodated the change in Si particle volume during cycling.

The objective of manufacturing knowledge sharing platform is to convert the production experience like a worker's know-how into quantitative values, to construct database of the process technologies and to share the technologies systematically via web portal service. In addition, the knowledge sharing platform contains the total production processes of automobile and mobile products such as information of experts, facilities, and cutting-edge R&D outputs. Automobile, telecommunication mobile, and semiconductors account for a large amount of Korea's export industry rate. These industries need production technology which is a result of converting worker's know-how and R&D. Manufacturing knowledge portal aims to enable transforming production experience such as worker's know-how into standardized form for constructing database and sharing technologies systematically. Manufacturing knowledge portal can contribute to small and mid-sized manufacturing companies with further improvements.

Previously, we found that baculovirus polyhedrin fragments can be successfully used as a fusion partner for the hyper-expression of target proteins. Here, we minimized the fusion fragment of polyhedrin for higher expression of target proteins in a baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS). Recombinant viruses were generated to express enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) fused with various shortened polyhedrin fragments based on the previously reported region of polyhedrin, amino acids 19 to 110. A dramatic increase in the production of EGFP was observed when polyhedrin amino acids 32 to 59 were fused with it. Additionally, this result was confirmed through the fusion ofamino acids 32 to 59with firefly luciferase andwith gD of porcine Aujeszky's disease virus. However, fusion expression with ORF2 of porcine circovirus did not increase the expression efficiency and indicated that the efficiency of fusion expressionwith polyhedrin fragmentsmay depend on the target protein. In conclusion, we suggest that polyhedrin amino acids 32 to 59 are a new fusion partner for hyper-enhanced production without affecting the bioactivity of target proteins in the baculovirus expression system.

The structural proteins of classical swine fever virus (CSFV) consist of nucleocapsid protein C and envelope glycoprotein Erns (E0), E1 and E2. Among them, E2, the most immunogenicof the CSFV glycoproteins, induces a protective immune response in swine. In this study, todetermine the optimal expression conditions of glycoprotein E2 using baculovirus system,we investigated the influence of insect cells and media to the expression of recombinant E2. Recombinant virus containing glycoprotein E2 coding gene was constructed with bApGOZADNA. Expression of the glycoprotein E2 was analyzed by SDS-PAGE and Western blotanalysis using anti-CSFV E2 monoclonal antibodies. Expression of glycoprotein E2 in Sf21cells was first observed after 3 days and reached a maximum on the 5th day after infection. Furthermore, the highest levels of glycoprotein E2 expression were observed at multiplicity ofinfection (MOI) of 5. When three different insect cell lines (Sf21, High-Five and Se301) weretested, High-Five cells showed the highest production. In addition, four different serum-freeand serum-supplemented media, respectively, were tested for the expression of glycoproteinE2 and the budded virus (BV) titers. As a result, serum-supplemented medium provided thebest conditions for protein production and the BV yield.
Survey of Awareness and Concept of Insects in Korea

To investigate the degree of individuals’ concept and awareness of insects, a survey studywas conducted with students and adults living in Korea. The misconception rate for insectswas about 50% for both students and adults, but it was lower for students and people whohad experienced insect-related events than for adults and those who had not. The highestmisconception rate was obtained in answer to a question about the basic structure of aninsect. Most people had a high awareness of insects. Significant differences and correlationsfor the awareness of insects were found between students and adults, men and women,people who had experienced insect-related events and those who had not. The experienceof an insect-related event most influenced awareness of insects. These results suggest thatincreasing people's interest in insects and utilizing insects in treatment situations may bebeneficial for the field of mental healthcare
Positive affect of insect-mediated mental healthcare program to adolescent’s emotions

Several insects have been shown to exert a strong influence positively on peoples’ emotions. Insect-mediated mental healthcare program was designed to help meet the physical, behavioral and developmental needs of adolescents. They were provided with an insectmediated mental healthcare program for a total of 10 sessions, one session per wk, at 1 h per session, accompanied by a pre- and post-test for emotion. Significant differences and correlations were found according to the individual participants’ planning, subjective quality of life, self-reported depression and self-worth, respectively. The results indicated that adolescents who participated in the insect-mediated healthcare program group once showed significant improvement in their planning, subjective quality of life and self-worth However, most of all participants’ self-reported depression was not influenced. These findings suggest that pet-insects positively affect adolescent’s emotional health via an insect-mediated healthcare program

In this paper, we introduce knowledge sharing platform for production technology. Surface mount technology (SMT) is one of the important production technologies to fabricate electronic devices. The production technology of the SMT, however, has been propagated from an experienced worker to an inexperienced worker in a manufacturing field. The objective of the knowledge sharing platform is to convert the production experiences like a solder printing knowhow into quantitative values, to construct the database of the process technologies, and to share the technologies systematically via web portal service. In addition, the knowledge sharing platform contains the total production process of mobile products, the information of experts and facilities, and recent R&D output. In this manner, the knowledge sharing platform for production technology could strengthen the technological competitiveness of small and medium manufacturing companies in Korea.
