Korea Infrastructure Safety & Technology Corporation has carried out safety evaluation because of the necessity of preservation and management in infrastructures. We have efforted to make a standard of evaluation, repair, preservation and management method for infrastructure's safety. In this paper, we introduce the case study of safety evaluation of a compound dam which we studied. This compound dam is an especially typical type which include an earth fill dam and a concrete dam.

In this study, the correlation between repulsive degree, velocity of ultra sonic and concrete core compression strength have been analyzed in dam concrete structures in Korea. The derivations of estimated strength through non-destructive testing are considered independent variations such as repulsive degree or velocity of ultra sonic and assumed that core compression strength is the basis of concrete structure.

Because the damage on the life and property of the people is expected at time of collapse, A large-scale concrete dam must be safe for an earthquake. The purpose of this study is to suggest some references of the evaluation case of the seismic performance for a concrete gravity dam. As the result, all the internal safety levels were evaluated in being satisfied not only I gave a plateau of the step-by-step evaluation result outside. Further development and implementation of the evaluation technique are recommended for future research.
