Background and Objectives : The voice change occurs after tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. This study was designed to examine the postoperative nasalance changes using Nasometer. Materials and Method : From April 2009 to February 2010, data of twenty-eight patients who underwent tonsillectomy, tonsillectomy & adenoidectomy were evaluated. 12 males and 16 females were chosen. Nasalance test was performed before, after 1 week, after 1 month from the surgery. Results : Postoperative mean nasalance results statistically significant increased in 1 weeks after surgery, and returned to the preoperative state in 1 month after surgery. Conclusion : Although the nasalance increased immediately after tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy temporally, it was recovered 1 month after surgery. Therefore, the voice change that come postoperatively could be considered as no concern, and surgeons need to aware of various facts, which can affect voice changes before the surgery.

In this study, rheological properties of ternary system cement containing ground fly ash(F3, Blaine specific surface area $8,100\;cm^2/g$) were investigated using mini slump, coaxial cylinder viscometer and conduction calorimeter. In the results, the segregation resistance was observed at high W/B and PC area while the replacement ratio of F3 was increasing. The 2:5:3 system was shown in higher fluidity and lower hydration heat than 3:4:3 system. The segregation range of cement pastes occurred over 175 mm in average diameter by mini slump and below $10\;dynesec/cm^2$ of the plastic viscosity or below 50 cP of the yield stress by coaxial cylinder viscometer. It was observed that even if BFS and FA blended together admixture properties would remaine as they were separately. The properties of admixture would not be changed. On the above results, the decreased replacement ratio of OPC and increased replacement ratio of admixtures would be possible.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the growth changes of the mandible and associated structure in response to postural hyperpropulsion and changes after removal of postural hyperpropulsor. The experimental animals were four-week-old Sprague-Dawley males rats. The animals were worn the postural hyperpropulsor diurnally for 10 hours per day. The animals were sacrified after 1-week, 2-week, 4-week postural hyperpropulsion and 4-week postural hyperpropulsion 4-week removal period. The growth changes of rat mandible and associated structures following postural hyperpropulsion on the growing rat mandible were observed biometrically, radiographically and histologically. The finding were as follows. 1. The angle between the chief axis of the bone trabeculae in the condyle and the mandibular plane of rats observed for 4 weeks after worn the hyperpropulsor for 4 weeks was directed posteriorly as compared with that of control rats. 2. The ratio of mandibular length to maxillary length of experimental rats was higher than that of control rats. 3. The tooth axis of mandibular first molar of rats worn the postural hyperpropulsor for 4 weeks was mesially inclined as compared with control rats. 4. Histologically, the cartilage layer at the superior region of the condyle of rats worn the postural hyperpropulsor for 2 weeks appeared thicker than that of same aged normal rats, and generalized increase of the cartilage layer was shown on the condyle of rats worn the postural hyperpropulsor for 4 weeks. 5. There was no significant histologic difference between rats observed for 4 weeks after worn the postural hyperpropulsor for 4 weeks (8 week experimental rats) and same aged normal rats. 6. The newly formed bone at anterior region of articular fossa of rats worn the postural hyperpropulsor for 2 weeks and 4 weeks was thicker than that of same aged normal rats.
고주파 지진이 원자력 발전소 설비의 동적거동에 미치는 영향

원자력 발전소는 국내전력소비량에 약 30%를 공급하는 가장 중요한 전력원이다. 원자력 발전소의 구조 및 설비의 손상은 전력공급의 중단 뿐만 아니라 심각한 인명피해 및 환경 재해를 야기한다. 2017년 9월에 발생한 경주지진에서 기록된 지진파는 고주파 성분을 많이 포함한 것으로 밝혀졌고 우리나라와 비슷한 중약진 지진대인 미국 중동부지역에서 발생한 지진들도 고주파 성분이 많이 포함되어 있어, 앞으로 발생할 국내 지진은 고주파 성분이 많이 포함된 지진일 가능성이 높다. 따라서 고주파 지진에 의한 원자력 발전소 설비의 지진응답에 대한 충분한 평가와 포괄적인 이해가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 고주파 성분이 많이 포함된 지진이 원자력 발전소 구조물 및 설비의 지진거동에 미치는 영향과 관련된 최신 연구동향을 제공한다. 문헌 분석 및 검토를 바탕으로 국내 원자력 발전소의 내진 설계 및 내진성능평가에 지진의 고주파 성분이 적절히 포함된 고주파지진 응답스펙트럼의 사용을 제안한다. Nuclear power plant (NPP) is one of the most critical sources for supplying power to the population and industries. Damage of nuclear power plant components can lead to not only devastating environment disasters and casualties but also interrupting electricity supplies. South Korea, owning a major number of nuclear reactors, is located in the low-to-moderate seismic area with high-frequency ground motions. Therefore, it is necessary to have a sufficient assessment and comprehensive understanding on the seismic response of NPP components subjected to high-frequency motions. This paper presents a state-of-the-art review of high-frequency (HF) ground motions effects on the response of structural and equipment components in NPP structures. Moreover, based on the analysis of literatures, we give a recommendation on the use of response spectra of HF ground motions for the seismic design and response analyses of Korean NPP structures.
열유도 상분리에 의한 폴리디페닐아세틸렌 유도체의 급격한 형광증대

열유도 상분리에 따른 폴리디페닐아세틸렌 유도체인 poly[1-phenyl-2-(p-trimethysilyl)phenylacetylene](PTMSDPA)의 상변화와 형광특성을 조사하였다. 폴리머와 비슷한 용해도상수를 가지는 용매들로부터 1,4-다이옥산이 theta solvent로 선정되었고, cloud-point법을 통해 PTMSDPA/1,4-다이옥산(1,4-dioxane) 용액의 phase diagram이 도출되었다. Theta condition으로 농도 0.88×10<SUP>-2</SUP> M, 온도 51.6 ℃에서 임계점이 나타났다. 냉각과정에서 임계점 부근에서 급격한 형광증대현상이 나타났으며, 이는 비방사성 형광 감쇠를 초래하는 폴리머 사슬 내의 충돌소광 및 진동완화가 폴리머와 용매사이의 급작스러운 상분리에 의해 억제되었기 때문이다. 본 연구는 형광공액고분자에 열유도 상분리법을 적용하여 초고형광성 나노입자 및 다공막을 제조할 수 있는 잠정적인 방법을 제시하고 있다. Phase change and fluorescence properties of the polydiphenylacetylene derivative, poly[1-phenyl-2-(p-trimethysilyl) phenylacetylene] (PTMSDPA), were investigated according to the thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) method. 1,4-dioxane was selected as the theta solvent from solvents having solubility parameters similar to that of the polymer, and the phase diagram of the solution of PTMSDPA/1,4-dioxane was derived using the cloud-point method. A critical point appeared at a concentration of 0.88×10<SUP>-2</SUP> M and a temperature of 51.6 ℃ as the theta condition. During the cooling process, a significant fluorescence enhancement occurred near the critical point, because collision quenching and vibration relaxation in the polymer chain, which causes non-radiative emission decay, are restrained by the abrupt phase separation between the polymer and the solvent. This study provides a tentative method for producing highly fluorescent nanoparticles and microporous membranes by applying TIPS to fluorescent conjugated polymers.
