Measurement methods in order to measure the mechanical properties nondestructively have been studied. The mechanical properties of the structural and turbine rotor steels are related with their magnetic properties. If the magnetic properties of the cold rolled carbon steel sheet (CR) for a car are measured nondestructively, its mechanical properties are analogized by their magnetic properties. And then the mechanical properties are monitored on-line by measuring the magnetic properties. We prepared three CR materials, CBQ 3060, CBQ 3041, and CBQ 3036, were prepared in order to measure their mechanical and magnetic properties. The Vickers hardness, yield strength, and tensile strength were measured by ASTM E 8M, and the reversible magnetic permeability was measured by the surface type probe. The coercivity calculated by the peak interval of reversible magnetic permeability increased linearly with the increase of Vickers hardness, yield strength, and tensile strength. The amplitude of the peak interval of reversible magnetic permeability drastically decreased when the lift-off was increased.
쐐기형 레일 클램프에서 조(jaw)의 회전을 방지하기 위한 적정 쐐기각에 대한 연구

항만에서 작동중인 컨테이너 크레인에 갑작스러운 돌풍에 의해 크레인이 밀리는 현상을 방지하기 위한 안전장치로 레일 클램프가 적용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 레일 클램프 중에서 특히 레일의 손상과 레일 클램프 수명을 향상시킬 수 있는 쐐기형 레일 클램프을 제작하기 위한 기초 설계에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 특히, 조의 회전을 방지하고 적절한 가압력을 발휘할 수 있는 쐐기각을 설정하기 위해, 우선 조의 설계 치수와 회전력의 관계에 대한 하중분석을 수행하고, 여기에서 최대 쐐기각을 도출하고, 이후 수치 해석을 통한 강성도 분석을 통하여 최소 쐐기각 6°를 제안한다. 또한, 제작된 레일 클램프를 통한 실험으로 검증하였다. In this paper, we designed a wedge type rail-clamp which can protect container crane from sudden wind blast with constant clamping force regardless of the operating period. When we design wedge type rail clamp, it is important to determine an angle of wedge which prevent rotating of jaw and for smooth operation when wind blows. Therefore, this paper suggest a process to decide an angle of wedge within proper range obtained by experimental analysis as well as FEA of the wedge type rail clamp. A model with 6° wedge angle is the most proper model to use in rail clamp because it generated satisfactory clamping force and rotating angle underdesign specification.
SB 410 보일러 및 압력용기용 탄소강 강판의 재질열화 연구

In spite of frequent defect in industrial boilers, life assessment or diagnostic method for them has not been studied. In this research, SB410 carbon steel used in industrial boilers is simulated with artificial aging heat treatment. To do qualitative life assessment, differences in micro-structures and hardness of SB410 by the degradation time are studied. In addition, variation in material properties by aging was observed with the tensile test at room temperature and 179℃ and changes in ductile to brittle transition temperature was observed with the charpy impact test performed at several test temperature.

Gear is the one of most widely used device for transmitting power. In the design of gear ensuring reliability, bending strength of tooth root, pitting resistance of contact surface, and scoring strength are considered to determine transmitting power of gear. In 1892, W. Lewis designed tooth of gear by simplifying it as cantilever beam to calculate bending strength of gear tooth. But the bending strength is the fatigue phenomenon related to crack initiation in tooth root. This paper presents high cycle fatigue properties of carburized SCM420H steel which is widely used as the material for gear and failure analysis of gear are also performed.
