This paper intends to study a trilogy of U. S. A. of John Dos Passos, one of the most neglected writers in the modern American novel. Writing his major works in the 1920s and 1930s, Dos Passos represents both modernism and leftism in American literature. While critics has traditionally regarded modernist literature and leftist literature as opposed to each other, Dos Passos's trilogy, The 42nd Parallel, 1919, and The Big Money, is remarkable for showing how those two literary attempts can coexist. Interestingly, he juxtaposes modernist literary experiment with leftist critiques of capitalist America of the first three decades of the 20th century to negotiate them within a context of American experience. This paper concretely examines how Dos Passos employs literary modernism and leftism and negotiates or, as it were, 'Americanizes' them in U. S. A. The modernist elements are remarkable in the formal experiments of the trilogy. The narrative structure of U. S. A. consists of four different layers, such as Newsreel, Biography, Narrative, and Camera Eye. Dos Passos presents a panorama of various experience of modern America through the multi-layered narratives interrelated to one another both thematically and structurally. In addition, a diversity of narrative techniques, from Camera Eye's impressionist stream- of-consciousness to the naturalist documentary in Newsreel and the objective narratives of major characters, enrich the prose style of the trilogy, while multiple kinds of American language vividly deliver the polyphonic voices of America. Within this narrative structure, Dos Passos critically analyzes the social and economic reality of America from the class-conscious and materialist perspectives of leftist literature. This leftist analysis attacks the systematic evils of capitalist America, such as the collapse of democratic ideals, mechanization of labor, monopoly capitalism, and the corruption of American Dream. And the narrator of Camera Eye, who gradually grows into a serious radical toward the end of the trilogy, harshly condemns America for its betrayal of the founding fathers' spirit of liberal democracy that culminates in the Sacco-Banzetti case. U. S. A. reveals American characteristics in blending those modernist and leftist elements. The mass culture of America is actively incorporated in the modernist innovation of the novel form, while the formal experiment effectively contributes to a critique of the mechanized American society. But Dos Passos's American negotiation discloses some problems in its nostalgic compromise with a Jeffersonian past of liberal democracy. Without any critical insight into its dark history, Dos Passos idealizes American democracy as the only alternative to reality.

Among contemporary American novels, Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club is one of the interesting examples that present the USA in crisis in both dramatic and shocking ways. As many people have pointed out, crisis has become one of the key terms succinctly defining the present condition of the USA that has been put in serious pitfalls in economy, politics, culture and so on. In Fight Club, his most popular work that has been accepted with cult-like enthusiasm, Chuck Palahniuk brings the issue of white masculinity in decline to focus on the dilemma of the individual who gets lost in consumer capitalist American society. The dilemma is presented through a kind of psychopathic drama of two juxtaposed males, the narrator and Tyler Durden, who turns out the narrator's alter-ego. It is Tyler who guides the narrator to violence as a way of breaking away from the numbed life in the dominant order of capitalism and further constructing a new world in which those who have been oppressed regain genuine selfhood and freedom. But Tyler is someone who the narrator must necessarily overcome for the revolution of self, as well. As shown through Project Mayhem in particular, Tyler's fascist enterprise of subverting the capitalist system repeats the very oppressive dominant order that the narrator tries to subvert. After an overview of the significance that Fight Club has in regard to the issues of the USA in crisis, this paper concretely examines the overall process in which the narrator struggles to be redeemed from dehumanizing capitalism. In so doing, as the narrator's decision to hold the terrorist project suggests at the end of the novel, it explores the paradox of revolution, that is, the impossible possibility of revolution that revolution could be possible because it is impossible now.

The instructor and the student's preferable form and color could increase interactivity in their studies through expressing psychology, character and emotion in various subjects.User's preferable form and color is based on the harmony of the cosmic dual forces on the five elements that is the fundamental principles of a herb medicine. The former study of this was made researches in Korean Society of Basic Design 2002.Vol.No2("A Study on a design methods of contents for education on the basis of web-For increasing the efficiency of a user's interactivity with color design system in education courses").The emphasis of this study is the principles of form and sound in web design contents for education. It is also founded on the cosmic dual forces on the five elements in a herb medicine.Specially, sound is the important advent of tools in multimedia design contents. the design based on the cosmic dual forces on the five elements could put to practical apply as well as the theoretical study. 본 연구는 교육분야별 교수 및 학습자가 가지고 있는 체질에 따른 심리와 성격 그리고 감성을 분석하여 선호형태 및 색채를 각 분야별 컨텐츠의 디자인에 적용할 경우 상호작용이 증진됨에 따라 학습의 효과가 배가될 수 있음을 강조하고 있다. 교육분야별 컨텐츠사용자의 형태 및 색채에 대한 선호는 동양의 자연원리인 음양오행의 상생, 상극, 상화 작용의 원리에서 근원을 찾은 것으로서 현 한의학의 기본 원리로서 그 신뢰성이 인정되며, 1차 연구 ( 웹 기반교육을 위한 컨텐츠디자인 접근방법에 관한 연구(1차) -교육분야별 사용자 상호작용증진을 위한 색채디자인을 중심으로- )에서 그 이치 확인한 바 있다. 금번 2차 연구에서는 우선적으로 1차 연구에서 진행되었던 색채디자인 원리와 더불어 형태디자인 원리를 중점적으로 연구 및 제시한다. 다음단계로는 조형의 기본적인 요소인 형태와 색채간의 상관관계를 음양오행원리의 상생, 상극, 상화작용의 원리를 통하여 해석하고, 그 관계성을 도식함으로서 그 이치를 쉽게 인식하여 컨텐츠 디자인에 효율적으로 활용할 수 있도록 한다. 끝으로 멀티미디어 구현과 관련된 미디어디자인요소인 소리(Sound)를 음양오행의 원리로 해석하고 멀티미디어디자인으로의 활용가능성을 가늠한다.

음양오행사상에 기초한 감성측정 접근방법 연구

인간은 태어나면서부터 모든 사물을 보고 다루는데 있어서 경험하고 교육을 받게 된다. 이러한 형태와 색채로 구성된 사물에 대한 경험과 교육은 인간이 성인이 될 때까지 그 사람의 인성과 감성 및 체질을 형성시켜 주는데 큰 영향을 주게된다. 이처럼 모든 사물은 인간이 유아에서 성년에 이르기까지 시공간에 함께 존재해 왔다는 것을 생각해 볼 때, 그것이 한 인간을 어떻게 형성시킬 수 있는가 또는, 어떻게 변화시킬 수 있는가를 미루어 짐작할 수 있다. 인간은 모든 사물로부터 주로 형태 감, 색감을 느끼게 되는데, 이러한 느낌은 개인의 생활환경 및 경험, 교육, 연령, 직업 등에 따라서 차이가 있을 수 있겠지만, 일정한 사람들이 공통적으로 선호하는 어떠한 사물의 형태와 색채가 있는 것부터 내재된 근본적인 형태 감, 색감을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 만약 어떤 사람이 자신이 원하지 않는 즉, 자신의 형태 감과 색감에서 벗어난 어떤 사물을 접했다고 가정해 보자. 적어도 이 사람은 무의식 중에라도 이 사물을 멀리하게 될 것이다. 아마도 형태와 색채를 다루는 모든 행위는 인간에게 가장 적합한 형태와 색채를 실현시킴으로써 미적인 욕구를 충족시키는 것이 될 것이다. 본 연 구는 인간이 근원적으로 갖고 있는 형태 감과 색채감에 대한 인식과 어떠한 형태 와 색채가 인간에 어떻게 심리적, 신체적으로 영향을 주느냐에 대한 내용과 사용자에게 보다 심리적, 신체적으로 유익하게 유효 적절한 형태와 색채를 제공하기 위한 감성측정 접근 방법의 모색을 과제로 삼았다. 연구결과 인간이 지니고 있는 근본적인 형태 감과 색채감은 인간 개개인의 심리와 인체의 상태에 따라 다르게 나타나고 있음과 주위의 환경요건 즉, 구체적으로 형태와 색채가 변화됨에 따라 인간의 심리와 인체가 어떻게 변화되는가 대한 원리를 음양오행 사상의 관련이론을 통해 인식하고 설문방식을 통하여 본 이론의 실제성을 확인해 보았다. 끝으로, 본 연구에서 제시한 이론은 더욱 체계화되고 심화될 때 인간에게 보다 유익하고, 유효 적절한 형태와 색채의 사물을 실현시키는데 있어서 기초적인 자세로서 활용될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. Considering that all objects coexist through space and time with human beings from birth to an adulthood, we can imagine how these things shape a person, Human beings' perception of form and colour might be different according to the person's living environment, experiences, education, age and job, However, when we see there are certain kinds of form and colour of that most people favor, we can understand that human beings have a certain inherent feelings about forms and colours, Let's suppose a man faces an object that dosen't correspond with his basic feelings about form and colour, He would avoid that object at least unconsoousty, All of his acts dealing with form and colour probably satisfy a desire for beauty which can be required from certain proper forms and colours, By revealing the feelings about forms and colours that human beings originally have, this study is going to explore what kinds of form and colour have what kinds of psychological and physical influences on human beings. Another purpose of this study is to be a theory suggesting more profitable and effective forms and colours psychologically and physically to the consumer. this study demonstrates that the basic feelings about forms and colours which human beings possess are different according to the individual's psychology and the body's condition. It also establishes the reality of the principle of how human psychology and the body change according to the surrounding environment. Finally, it will be appropriate for the suggested theory from this study to be used as fundamental material in deciding the forms and colours used in the design field in the future in that these forms and colours are more profitable and efftient.

시계열 모형을 이용한 주가지수 방향성 예측

This paper deals with directivity forecasting of time series which is useful for futures trading in stock market. Directivity forecasting of time series is to forecast whether a given time series will rise or fall at next observation time point. For directional forecasting, we consider time regression model and ARIMA model. In particular, we study two statistics, intra-model and extra-model deviation and then show usefulness of intra-model deviation. 본 논문은 주가지수선물거래 등에서 유용한 역할을 하는 시계열 데이터의 방향성 예측 문제를 다룬다. 여기서 시계열의 방향성 예측이란 시계열 값의 상승 혹은 하락을 예측하는 문제를 뜻한다. 방향성 예측을 위해 본 연구에서는 시계열 요소분해모형과 자기회귀 누적 이동평균 과정 모형을 고려한 다. 특히 방향성 예측의 주된 통계량으로서 모형 외 편차와 모형 내 편차를 고려하며 모형 내 편차가 좀 더 유용함을 보인다.
