The purpose of this study was to review the design features shown on our modern tourism culture commodities and thereby, explore the ways to enhance the quality of our uniform and less creative contemporary tourism culture commodities. The tourism industry can hardly be invigorated with a single solution; a well-organized promotion policy is required. The major essential infra elements for invigoration of tourism are transport, hotels, must-eat, must-see, must-enjoy, and tourism cultural commodities. All in all, in order to invigorate the tourism industry, it is deemed necessary to identify the design features of the tourism culture commodities produced during the Japanese occupation and thereby, help develop the tourism culture commodities. To this end, this study produced an objective analysis model conducive to the identification of the design features of the tourism culture commodities and thereby, determined the characteristics of the tourism culture commodities. The scope of this study was, however, limited to the modern design works produced during 1920's ~ 1930' and collected by the Korean Modern and Contemporary Design Museum reputed for its largest design collections in Korea; among them, the tourism culture commodity group belonging to the same category was sampled for this study. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; first, the finished quality after printing is very high; Secondly, the Korean traditional materials and local characteristics are well highlighted to be differentiated from other regions; Thirdly, many tourism culture commodities feature fresh ideas, being environmental-friendly; Fourthly, much efforts were made for marks or package designs, with the background and brochure attached. Lastly, it is hoped that this study would be helpful to stimulate the tourism culture commodities and thereby, that fresh tourism culture commodities would be produced actively.

Korea signs unprecedented worldwide for the maintenance of complex government, led by long time "beautiful sign making business" coming to proceed. However, spread around the country, including Seoul, this business is rather prejudicial to the cultural diversity of each region and the individuality and creativity, resulting in appearance of the signs will disappear and only the one-size-fits-all be spawned. This is a beautiful cycle, rather than to create an urban environment, free aesthetic sense in the long term the potential to undermine regional identity because trying to check about this issue and propose improvements accordingly. In this paper, we selected three areas of Seoul and the typical distance problems with features that identify and propose alternatives. Research results show that for Cultural signs Hongik University and Gangnam, Insadong, except in the form of a one-size-fits-all shows signs were more severe in the non-dual Gangnam style, personality and also shows heterogeneous. To reflect the particular area and history is an important matter and signboards design realistically never needed. Announced today, as well as the sign in the area have certainly reflected in the concept of nature and urban space should ensure that local context is a distinct era is because even consider. Signs, such as color and shape and material design featuring regional and cultural factors are in harmony with the social background to allow consideration of the interaction between users and the requirement that the design should not be overlooked.

Elizabeth Keith traveled around Asia several times, and has left numerous illustrations and prints(woodblocks, copperplates) on the custom, scenery and people of Korea, Japan, China, Philippines, etc. Among the many books published by Westerners in the modern times, couple books that list her works are valued as important materials depicting life in Korea at the time with illustrations and writings. Therefore, we cannot but pay attention to her prominent works and achievements as illustrator in the history of modern Korean design. As can be evidenced through the remaining materials, it was commonplace for the majority of authors visiting the East to focus on China and Japan, but it's clear she showed more affection and interest in Korea. Having much loved Korea that strived to firmly care, maintain and develop its own culture amidst Japan's ferocious military rule, Elizabeth Keith has left large numbers of works on Korea. Among them, the work〈Old Korea〉only about Korea is a collection of custom & travel accounts that lists her impressions and illustrations while traveling around Korea along with descriptions on her works considered of much value. Research on Elizabeth Keith, who decorated a chapter of Korean modern design history through her mature illustrations, can be said to be somewhat late. The purpose of this study is to research in depth and understand her writingss focusing on the characteristics of her style and background of her works as well as her way of thinking. I hope this research serves as a small repayment to the unlimited affection she has shown to Korea.
