The purpose of this study is to explore pre-service early childhood teachers’ perspectives on caring. A total of 20 participants from K University were selected and their data were collected through interviews, metaphoric expressions, and drawings. Among the collected data, the interview data were transcribed by the researchers, where two researchers combined each individual data together and read it repeatedly to derive meaningful key words. Then, the whole data were re-read by the researchers and analyzed through cycle process with keyword extraction, categorization, and interpretation. This study has shown that the four main viewpoints of pre-service early childhood teachers on caring were 'realization of social promises', 'expanding one's viewpoint', 'exposing human instinct', and 'reciprocal relationship.' The participants commonly thought that caring is essential in social relationships and that caring at kindergartens occurs among interactions with in young children, fellow teachers, and parents. However, most relationships were rather unidirectional, emanating from adults to young children than bidirectional. Furthermore, subjects that received caring were only limited to individuals and caring was only focused on self-satisfaction. These results imply that pre-service early childhood teachers must contemplate on these following questions: 'Do I believe the individual that I care to be valuable?', and 'do I believe caring to be valuable?'
