To study the structure of opposite wood in the angiosperms, samples were cut from stems and branchs of 10 spcies growing in Korea. The opposite side was defined as being along a line passing from the most wide annual ring of the tension wood on the upper side. to the pith and extrapolated through the opposite side. lateral sides being on the right and left of this line. The stem woods growing almost horizontally were surveyed the structural features of the well-developed opposite wood for the tension wood. In the annual-ring of the well-developed opposite woods, an investigation was made on haw the dimension of elements, microfibril angles, and cell wall layers change from tension side to opposite side. The structural characteristics of opposite wood in hardwoods realized in this study are as follows: 1. The vessel diameters increased continuously to ward the opposite side in which the values were maximum. The vessel length also increased toward opposite side, but the rates of increase were smaller than those in the vessel diameters. 2. The wood fiber length were decreased from tension toward opposite side, but the rates of decrement were flactuated within the sampled species. 3. The microfibril angles had the minimum values on the tension side, then increased steeply toward the opposite side in which the values maximum. 4. In the percentage of elements the vessel elements increased continously at a relative rate from the tension to opposite side, whereas the values of the wood fibers were lower in the opposite than the tension side, but the variation patterns of rays were not seem distinctly. 5. The component layers of the wood fiber in the opposite woods were very similar to the lateral woods.

This study is an numerical study of predicting the behavior of anchor embedded in weathered rocks, subjected to uplift loads, about ultimate pullout capacity and the failure mechanism. Factors influencing the behavior of anchors were investigated by reviewing the data about in-situ anchor tests performing numerical modelling with changing the bondage length of anchor, diameter of anchor body and diameter of tenden, and by Correlations between those factors were evaluated to apply them to predict the behavior of anchors. As results of numerical analysis, a linear relationship between bondage length, diameter of anchor body and diameter of tenden with ultimate pullout capacity was obtained on the one hand, from the result of numerical analysis changing the Young's modulus of weathered rock, this parameter was found to inflence to load-displacement and ultimate pullout capacity within the range of 10%, which was mot so significant to affect.

Byung-Soo Park, Woosoon Kang and Mija Kim. 2000. On English Gerundive Constructions: A Constraint-Based Lexical Approach. Studies in Modern Grammar. 22, 107-124. In this paper, we support Malouf`s (1998) proposal that there be an independent syntactic category, gerund. In terms of the type hierarchy of syntactic categories, it is possible to say that the category gerund belongs both to a verbal category and to a nominal category without being either a verb or a noun. On the other hand, we attempt to modify Malouf`s analysis of certain control and raising verbs which require gerundive complements. Under his analysis, an NP and a gerundive construction that fallow a control or raising verb must always constitute a GP (Gerundive Phrase). However, in addition to those cases, we show that there are cases in which the two elements must not constitute a GP; they are separate parts of a VP, together with the preceding head daughter. Our analysis is based an the possibility of passivizing the NP occurring before the gerundive complement. We also show that the unexpressed subject of a gerundive phrase is systematically identifiable under our analysis, without adding anything to the present control theory.

This paper proposes a multistage interconnection ATM switching network without internal blocking. The first is recirculating shuffle-exchange network improved on hardware complexity. The next is connected to Rank network with tree structure. In this network, after the packets transferred to the same output ports are given each priority, only a packet with highest priority is sent to the next, an the others are recirculated to the first. Rearrangeability through decomposition and composition algorithm is applied for the transferred packets in hanyan network and all they arrive at a final destinations. To analyze throughput, waiting time and packet loss ratio according tothe size of buffer, the probabilities are modeled by a binomial distribution of packet arrival.
