        Effect of dentin treatment on proliferation and differentiation of human dental pulp stem cells

        Objectives: Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is an excellent bactericidal agent, but it is detrimental to stem cell survival, whereas intracanal medicaments such as calcium hydroxide (Ca[OH]2) promote the survival and proliferation of stem cells. This study evaluated the effect of sequential NaOCl and Ca(OH)2 application on the attachment and differentiation of dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs). Materials and Methods: DPSCs were obtained from human third molars. All dentin specimens were treated with 5.25% NaOCl for 30 min. DPSCs were seeded on the dentin specimens and processed with additional 1 mg/mL Ca(OH)2, 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) treatment, file instrumentation, or a combination of these methods. After 7 day of culture, we examined DPSC morphology using scanning electron microscopy and determined the cell survival rate with 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay. We measured cell adhesion gene expression levels after 4 day of culture and odontogenic differentiation gene expression levels after 4 wk using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Results: DPSCs did not attach to the dentin in the NaOCl-treated group. The gene expression levels of fibronectin-1 and secreted phosphoprotein-1 gene in both the Ca(OH)2- and the EDTA-treated groups were significantly higher than those in the other groups. All Ca(OH)2-treated groups showed higher expression levels of dentin matrix protein-1 than that of the control. The dentin sialophosphoprotein level was significantly higher in the groups treated with both Ca(OH)2 and EDTA. Conclusions: The application of Ca(OH)2 and additional treatment such as EDTA or instrumentation promoted the attachment and differentiation of DPSCs after NaOCl treatment.

        실손형 민간보험의 비급여 보장축소가 한방의료이용에 미친 영향

        Objective : Private health insurance coverage in Korean medicine has been reduced since October 2009 for preventing unnecessary utilization. The aim of this study is to identify how private health insurance coverage reduction affects on the Korean medicine utilization. Method : We analyzed the Korea Health Panel data from 2008 to 2012. Panel negative binominal regression model was used to analyze the relationship between private health insurance coverage reduction and utilization of outpatient service. Panel tobit regression analysis was used to identify the relationship between private health insurance coverage reduction and health expenditure of outpatient service. Results : Private health insurance coverage reduction significantly dropped both utilization and health expenditure of outpatient service by 9%, 9.22% respectively. In addition, therapeutic utilization significantly decreased up to 10%. Conclusion : Private health insurance coverage reduction seems to have an effect to reduce both utilization and the health expenditure of Korean medicine outpatient service. This effect was more noticeable in the therapeutic utilization. Thus, more elaborate policy will be needed to prevent unnecessary utilization of Korean medicine.

        인터넷을 활용한 역사수업모형 연구 : 중ㆍ고등학교 세계사를 중심으로

        인터넷의 발달과 보급에 힘입어 종래의 일방적인 주입식 교육에서 탈피하여 학습자의 흥미를 유발할 수 있는 다양한 학습자료의 제공 및 그들의 능동적 참여를 통한 쌍방향적 역사수업이 가능하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 인터넷 활용 역사수업의 현황을 살펴보았다. 그리고, 이를 바탕으로 인터넷을 활용 한 구체적인 역사수업모형을 제작하여 본 연구자와 동료교사가 실제 중학교 역사수업에 적용하여 실시 하고, 역사교사들이 이용할 수 있도록 인터넷 상에 공개하여 인터넷 활용수업에 대한 수업참가자 및 현 직 역사교사들의 반응을 조사하여 ‘역사적 사고력의 신장’이라는 역사교육의 교육목표를 달성할 수 있는 지를 알아보았다.

        사용자 의견 기반 소형선박 충돌예방 알고리즘 개선 연구

        Collision of small vessels such as fishing boats cause great personal injury. Prior to this study, the collision prevention algorithm was developed to assess the collision risk and make the collision alarm. However, a service provided for safety, such as a collision warning, not only prevents risks, but also requires a certain degree of user satisfaction to function effectively. In this study, the collision prevention algorithm for small vessels was improved to be more practical, and the effects of the improvement were confirmed by applying the algorithm. A survey conducted on the users of the collision warning service confirmed the user requirements for improving the accuracy of the collision warning system and reducing the volume and number of alarms. Accordingly, the algorithm was improved for user satisfaction, and the actual vessel experiment was performed applying the improved algorithm in an actual maritime environment. As a result, the frequency of alarm occurrence decreased compared to former algorithm, but the alarm was relatively steadily generated in dangerous situations. It was analyzed that the accuracy and practicality of the collision alarm were improved. If the practicality and reliability of the improved algorithm are verified in the further study, it will be able to effectively contribute to the prevention of collisions of small vessels. 어선과 같은 소형선박의 충돌사고는 큰 인명피해를 초래한다. 본 연구 이전에 선행된 연구에서는 충돌위험을 판단하고 경보를 발생시키는 소형선박 충돌예방 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 하지만 충돌경보와 같이 안전을 위해 제공되는 서비스는 위험을 예방할 뿐 아니라 이용자의 만족도 또한 어느 정도 수반되어야 효과적으로 기능할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 소형선박 충돌예방 알고리즘의 실용성 향상을 위해 알고리즘을 개선하고, 알고리즘을 실제로 적용하여 개선결과 및 효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 충돌경보 서비스를 사용한 소형선박 운항자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 수행한 결과, 충돌경보의 정확도 향상과 경보 횟수 및 음량에 대한 사용자들의 요구사항이 확인되었다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 사용자 만족도 향상을 위해 알고리즘을 개선하였으며 실제 해상환경에서 개선된 알고리즘을 적용한 실선실험을 수행하였다. 그 결과 개선 전보다 경보 발생 빈도가 감소하였지만, 위험한 상황에서는 경보가 비교적 꾸준히 발생하였으며, 충돌경보의 정확성과 실용성이 향상된 것으로 분석되었다. 추후에는 개선된 알고리즘의 적정성에 대한 근거자료를 마련하여 알고리즘의 실용성과 신뢰성을 확보한다면 소형선박 충돌사고 예방에 효과적으로 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

      • 부산지역 2교대 디지털산업종사자와 일반사무직 근로자의 식습관 비교

        This study was carried out to investigate the nutritional knowledge, dietary habit and stress level of workers according to work schedule in Busan. The survey was conducted from February 20 to February 28, 2007 by questionnaires and data analyzed by SPSS program. The results are summarized as follows: The Nutrition knowledge score of the ordinary office workers higher than that of the two-shift industry employees. The two-shift employees in the digital industry showed lower score than the ordinary office workers in the dietary habits. Irregular mealtime was identified as the most common problem. In the ordinary office workers, dietary behavior had positive correlation with nutrition knowledge and stress, but showed no correlation in the digital industry employees. Therefore nutrition education for the subjects should be needed to improve their health status and nutritional status.

        Elevated Levels of α-Synuclein Oligomer in the Cerebrospinal Fluid of Drug-Naïve Patients with Parkinson’s Disease

        Background and Purpose The detection of α-synuclein in the body fluids of patients with synucleinopathy has yielded promising but inconclusive results, in part because of conformational changes of α-synuclein in response to environmental conditions. The aim of this study was to determine the feasibility of using α-synuclein as a biological marker for Parkinson’s disease (PD). Methods Twenty-three drug-naïve patients with PD (age 62.4±12.7 years, mean±SD; 11 males)and 29 age- and sex-matched neurologic control subjects (age 60.1±16.2 years; 16 males) were recruited. The levels of oligomeric and total α-synuclein in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma were measured using two simultaneous enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Results The level of α-synuclein oligomer in the CSF of PD patients was significantly higher in PD patients than in neurological controls, but other findings (plasma α-synuclein oligomer and total α-synuclein in CSF and plasma) did not differ significantly between the two groups. When the control subjects were divided into a symptomatic control group (11 patients who complained of parkinsonian symptoms and were diagnosed with hydrocephalus and drug-induced or vascular parkinsonism) and a neurologic control group (10 normal subjects and 8 patients with diabetic ophthalmoplegia), the level of α-synuclein oligomer in the CSF was still significantly higher in PD patients than in both of the control subgroups. Conclusions These findings provide further evidence for a pathogenic role of the α-synuclein oligomer and suggest that CSF levels of α-synuclein oligomer can be a reliable marker for PD.

        노인의 미충족 의료에 미치는 영향 요인: 2011년도 한국의료패널자료를 이용하여

        The purpose of this study is to measure unmet medical needs and to investigate the factors affecting unmet medical needs in elderly using Korea health panel data 2011. Korea health panel data 2011 were collected from May to December 2011 by Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs and National Health Insurance Corporation. The data was analyzed by chi-square and multiple logistic regression using SPSS WIN 20.0 program. The model was suitable (chi-square = 97.516, p<.001). The major finding of this study were that the ratio of unmet medical needs was 13.5% and the main reason of unmet medical needs is for economic reasons. Factors of affecting influences to unmet medical needs revealed that less than elementary school graduation, low perceived stratum, presence of depression, and very low and low self-rated health status had more unmet medical needs in elderly by 0.63 times (CI 0.43-0.94), 3.48 times (CI 1.51-8.01), 1.77 times (CI 1.28-2.45), 2.03 times (CI 1.02-4.03), and 2.71 times (CI 1.20-6.13), respectively. This study is meaningful as an attempt to measure unmet medical needs, to identify reason on ummet needs, and to analysis factors affecting unmet medical needs in elderly. The results of this study will be utilized as basic data on decreasing unmet medical needs in elderly. 본 연구는 인구의 고령화에 따라 의료이용에 대한 욕구와 필요도가 높은 노인의 미충족 의료의 현황을 확인하고 노인의 미충족 의료에 미치는 영향 요인을 규명하기 위해 시도되었다. 본 연구는 한국보건사회연구원과 국민건강보험공단이 수행한 한국의료패널 2011년도 베타버전 2.0자료를 활용하였고, SPSS WIN version 20.0을 이용하여 카이제곱(chi-square) 검정과 다중로지스틱 회귀분석(multiple logistic regression)을 하였으며 모형은 적합하였다(chi-square=97.516, p<.001). 연구대상은 65세 이상 노인으로 이들 가운데에서 미충족 의료 경험 여부에 대한 질문에 응답한 노인 2,647명이다. 연구 결과 우리나라 65세 이상 노인의 미충족 의료 경험은 전체의 13.5%로 나타났으며, 미충족 의료를 경험하는 가장 큰 원인은 경제적인 이유(55.9%)로 나타났다. 미충족 의료에 영향을 미치는 요인은 소인성요인에서 초졸 이하보다 고졸 이하가 0.63배(CI 0.43-0.94) 미충족 의료를 덜 경험하고, 가능요인으로 계층인지도가 ‘상’인 경우보다 ‘하’에서 3.48배(CI 1.51 - 8.01) 미충족 의료를 더 경험하는 것으로 나타났으며, 필요요인으로 우울감이 있는 사람이 없는 사람보다 1.77배(CI 0.28 - 2.45), 주관적 건강상태가 ‘매우 좋음’보다 ‘나쁨’에서 2.03배(CI 1.02 - 4.03), ‘매우 나쁨’에서 2.71배(CI 1.20 - 6.13) 미충족 의료를 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 65세 이상 노인의 미충족 의료의 현황과 원인을 살펴보고, 미충족 의료에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하였으며, 이에 따라 향후 증가하는 노인인구의 미충족 의료 해결방안을 마련하는데 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

        Analysis and Monitoring of Environmental Parameters in a Single-span Greenhouse during Strawberry Cultivation

        In this study, strawberry cultivation environment in a greenhouse located in Jeonju was monitored and internal environmental parameters were analyzed. Temperature, humidity, RAD, and PPF sensors were installed to monitor environmental conditions in the test greenhouse. Data were collected every 10 minutes during four winter months from sensors placed across the greenhouse to assess its permeability and environmental uniformity. Temperature and humidity inside the greenhouse were relatively uniform with negligible deviations among the center, south, and north; however, it was judged that further analysis of gradients of these parameters f rom the east to t he w est of t he g reenhouse w ould b e needed. Both R AD (Total solar radiation) a nd P PF (Photosynthetic photon flux) had high values on the south and were low on the north and the reduction rate of these parameters was 54% and 61%, respectively, indicating that a significant amount of light could not be transmitted. This implied a significant decrease in the amount of light entering the greenhouse during winter. Therefore, it is concluded that environmental control devices and auxiliary lighting are needed to achieve uniform greenhouse environment for efficient strawberry cultivation.
