A digital image display system is studied. A TV set is used for a display unit. The system is designed to display 256x212 pixels in a frame and 8 bit gray levels. A microcomputer system is utilized for the image processing which has a Z-80A cpu and s-100 bus. A image processing system which includes a refresh memory system is designed. Images taken by the input system are processed. The image sharpening techniques are introduced. The image edges are found and sharpend using Robert cross operator of spatial differentiation technique. The images are also processed to eliminate noise utilizing the neighbourhood averaging method.
디지탈 필타 설계에서 이동 평균법을 사용한 잡음제거 특성에 관한 연구

The smoothing method, which is one of the noisy signal processing techniques, is used in order to process the data corrupted with Gaussian White Noise using 5,7 and 9 size window functions. A simple convolution averaging, polynominal curve-fitting and adaptive smoothing methods are used for smoothing. The maximum size of the window function for the simple convolution averaging method is 7, which is about 1/3 of the total sequence, because of the obvious distortion to the original signal. The distortion characteristics of ploynominal curve-fitting method is better than that of the simple convolution averaging method even though the S/N ratio of it is degraded by 3.77 dB for the window size of 5 and 3.63dB for the window size of 9. It is found that the characteristics of filtering of adaptive smoothing method is the best for the 25 sequence data judging from distortion inducement.

A computer vision system for recognition and processing any visible objects is designed. Analog video images are digitized and stored in the internal memory of a microcomputer system and these digitized data are output through a bit-image printer. The kirsch edge operator is used for the processing. In order to compare the result of Kirsch edge enhancement, two images "a Man" and "a figure" are tested. Because of the limitations of the speed of A/D converter and the capacity of internal memory, the operation of the system is a still-picture mode. Upper 4 bit date of the memory are used for printing out the image, so as to the gray levels are sixteen. The output size of the bit-image printer is 120x120, and 2 horizontal lines are printed simultaneously per 1 carriage return because the printer has a 8 pin head. The system is designed to have compatibility with any microcomputer system which has a S-100 bus structure.
