해안 대수층 내에서 담수와 해수 사이에 형성되는 확산대의 위치와 형태는 많은 변수들에 의하여 영향을 받는다. 현재까지 수행된 많은 연구는 확산대들의 정성적 비교로 국한되었다. 본 연구에서는 정량적 분석을 위하여 확산대 특성(최대 침투 길이, 두께, 성층 정도)을 계량화하고 수치 모형을 이용하여 주요 변수(유속과 확산지수)가 확산대 특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 차원해석을 통하여 정리된 실험 결과는 유속과 확산지수가 확산대의 특성에 미치는 영향을 명확히 규명하였다. 유속의 증가는 확산계수를 증가시키기 때문에 확산대가 팽창한다는 일부의 주장과는 달리 확산대는 축소하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. The location and the shape of freshwater-saltwater transition zones in coastal aquifers are affected by many hydraulic variables. To date most work to determine the effects of these variables are limited to qualitative comparison of transition zones. In this work characteristics of transition zones (maximum intrusion length, thickness, and degree of stratification) are quantified, and effects of principal hydraulic variables(velocity and dispersivity) on these characteristics are studied using a numerical model. Dimensional analysis is used to assemble entire model results. Effects of velocity and dispersivity are seen clearly. From this study, increase in velocity is found to cause shrinkage of transition zones. This observation contradicts claims by some that, because dispersion is proportional to velocity, increase in velocity would cause expansion of transition zones.
해안대수층 지하수흐름의 특성 : 실내 실험연구 LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS

Experiments were conducted using laboratory models to study salt water intrusion phenomena in coastal aquifers. Two models filled with sand were used. The smaller model could produce steady-state cross-sectional flow in a reasonably short time. The bigger model produced a more interesting three-dimensional flow field compare to the smaller one, but it also took much more time to reach steady states and posed difficulties in observing results. A cross-sectional model was used to investigate 'freshwater lens'phenomena. A few pumping scenarios were tested. Contamination of the well with excessive withdrawal was observed. The effectiveness of a scavenger well was studied. The bigger model was used to study the steady-state lateral intrusion problems. Various attempts were made to measure the interface position in the sand.

The present paper aims at pointing the way to a better EFL-writing instruction in Korean schools. It begins with a look at some of the ailments that afflict the teaching of EFL writing as it is currently practiced in Korean. This diagnosis is followed by suggestions as to how we can best cure these ailments and thereby help upgrade the quality of EFL writing in our schools. One of the suggestions made is that the present practice of emphasizing form at the expense of function be reversed. Another calls for a reconsideration of the current practice of putting speech before (and above) writing
