The KSLV-Ⅱ launch vehicle is now under development to build Korea’s main space transportation system and to support future space activities more efficiently. The KSLV-Ⅱ is a launch vehicle with capability of placing 1500 ㎏ payload into a sun synchronous orbit and more than 2600 ㎏ into a lower Earth orbit. This paper describes the current status of the mission and system design of the KSLV-Ⅱ launch vehicle.

The Korean space program was marked by the successful launching of a KSR-III liquid propelled sounding rocket. The Inertial Navigation System (INS) which carries out critical mission functions of navigation, guidance and control was domestically developed and perfectly certified through the flight test. The system consists of a strapdown inertial measurement, an onboard computer and flight software. This paper will describes the development works of the inertial navigation system, including top level system design, hardware and software. And it summarizes flight results.

The KSLV(Korea Space Launch Vehicle)-II is now under development to inject multi-purpose satellites into sun-synchronous orbits. The inertial navigation unit of KSLV-II will keep the heritage of fully integrated strapdown KSLV-I INGU and will apply optical gyros with improved performance instead of mechanical gyros. This paper presents the design and test results of navigation grade fiber optic gyros for KSLV-II INGU.
