A clinical observation was performed on 80 cases of amebic liver abscess admitted to Chosun University Hospital from March 1975, to August 1979. The results were as follows: 1. The most cases were found between the fourth and sixth decade and the incidence of peak age was in the fifth(30.0%). The male to female ratio was 3.4: 1 with male predominance. The disease occurred more frequently in the summer and the autumn, but less in the w inter. The most frequent complaint was pain(96. 3%), especially in right upper quadrant of the abdomen(72. 7%), and the most frequent physical finding was tenderness on right upper quadrant of the abdomen(97.5%). 4, The anemia below 10, Qgm% of hemoglobin was seen in 28. 7/o of patients and the leukocytosis over IO, QQQ/mm in 61. 3%. 5 Among the liver function tests, Serum total bilirubin over 3. 0 mg% was seen in 1I. 3% of patients, serum Alkaline Phosphatase over 5.0 Bodansky Units in 63. 8%, SGOT over 49 Units in 48. 8%, serum total protein below 6. 0 gm% in 20, 0%, serum Albumin below 3 0 gm% in 38, 8% and reversed A/G ratio of serum protein in 47. 5% of the patients. 6 The abnormal chest X-ray findings were seen in 66. 3% of patients and the most frequent abnormal finding was right hemidiaphragm elevation(47,5%). 7 The various complications of amebic liver abscess were found in 15% of patients and bronchopleural fistula, peritonitis, pyothorax and subphrenic abscess were seen in order of frequency. As a result of study by using of liver scanning(Au), the frequent sites of involvement were in order of posterosuperior lateral part, anterosuperior lateral part, and posteroinferior lateral part of the right lobe. G. The serial scanographic examinations during the medical treatment were performed on 7 cases, the cold areas were disappeared within a period of 2 to 6 months(average: 16.3, weeks).

In recent years, refractory materials with excellent high-temperature properties have been in the spotlight as a next generation’s high-temperature materials. Among these, Mo-Si-B alloys composed of two intermetallic compound phases (Mo5SiB2 and Mo3Si) and a ductile α-Mo phase have shown an outstanding thermal properties. However, due to the brittleness of the intermetallic compound phases, Mo-Si-B alloys were restricted to apply for the structural materials. So, to enhance the mechanical properties of Mo-Si-B alloys, many efforts to add rare-earth oxide particles in the Mo-Si-B alloy were performed to induce the improvement of strength and fracture toughness. In this study, to investigate the effect of adding nano-sized Y2O3 particles in Mo- Si-B alloy, a core-shell powder consisting of intermetallic compound phases as the core and nano-sized α- Mo and Y2O3 particles surrounding the core was fabricated. Then pressureless sintering was carried out at 1400 °C for 3 h, and the mechanical properties of sintered bodies with different amounts of Y2O3 particles were evaluated by Vickers hardness and 3-point bending test. Vickers hardness was improved by dispersed Y2O3 particles in the Mo-Si-B alloy. Especially, Mo-3Si-1B-1.5Y2O3 alloy had the highest value, 589 Hv. The fracture toughness was measured using Mo-3Si-1B-1.5Y2O3 alloy and the value indicated as 13.5 MPa·√m.
Development of donor-acceptor type-based random copolymer for highly efficient polymer solar cells

In recent years, as a result of development of novel low band gap donor polymer, the device characteristics of the polymer solar cells such as FF, Voc, and Jsc have shown dramatic increase and the solar cell efficiency has been achieved up to ~ 10%. To increase current density, the further broad absorption spectra to give a decisive effect on performance of devices should be basically required. Accordingly, we synthesized low band gap random copolymers included different monomers donor unit and acceptor unit, which have different absorption. In this work, we demonstrate the highly efficient polymer solar cells using two different novel low band gap polymers as donor materials in the photoactive layer. Also, the effects of two difference random copolymers on the device parameters such as FF, Voc, and Jsc were investigated. As a result, PCE of optimum polymer solar cells with random copolymers showed 5.9% and 7.71%, respectively.
