        Staging Dis/embodied Memories: Adoptee Memoirs in Performance

        Focusing on recent women’s solo performances on transnational adoption, this paper examines the ways in which the female body in performance challenges as well as reproduces prevalent narratives around adoption such as fantasies of identity and origin. In N/A (2012) by Katie Leo and Motherlanded (2016) by Julia Gay, the performer’s body becomes a source of knowledge and a site of frustration, through which she discovers and reimagines her ties to her mother/land. Leo’s investigation into her blood/muscle memory and Gay’s (un)doing of gendered and ethnicized spectacles highlight each performer’s inseparable connection to places of origin. Such associations, however, are disrupted by ambivalent (if not troubling) moments of dis-identification when the body reaches the impasse of understanding and reconciliation beyond the bodily imagination. By exploring how a gendered and ethnicized body reconstructs personal and national histories in the embodied space of theater, this study further considers the contingencies of transforming personal narratives into public discourses.

        간호대학생의 다문화인식과 다문화효능감의 관계에서 감성지능의 매개효과

        This study attempted to provide basic data for developing strategies to improve the multicultural efficacy of nursing university students by identifying the mediating effect of emotional intelligence on the relationship between multicultural perception and multicultural efficacy of nursing university students. The subjects of the study were 179 nursing students at two universities in J province and G city. The SPSS/23.0 program was used to analyze the data with descriptive statistics; an independent t-test, analysis of variance ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and mediating effect analysis were performed using Process Macro 4.0. As a result of the study, nursing students multicultural efficacy was found to be positively correlated with multicultural awareness(r=.596, p<.001) and a positive correlation with emotional intelligence(r=.620, p<.001). Emotional intelligence showed a mediating effect on the relationship between multicultural perception and multicultural efficacy(β=.471, p<.001). Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to development and apply systematic programs to increase multicultural perception and increase emotional intelligence for improving the multicultural efficacy of nursing university students.

        초발 뇌졸중 환자의 라이프 케어를 위한 자기결정성 이론에 기반한 자가간호 이행 구조모형

        The purpose of this study was to test a hypothesis explaining relationships based on self-determination theory among the factors which affect self-care adherence of first stroke patients for the life care promotion. Data were collected from 284 outpatients with first stroke patients. The variables of the hypothetical model consisted of healthcare providers' autonomy support, illness perception, autonomy, stroke self-efficacy, family relatedness, depression, autonomous motivation and self-care adherence. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 and Mplus 7.5 program. The hypothetical model demonstrated a good fit: RMSEA=.02, SRMR=.04, TLI=.99, CFI=.99. In the order of the stroke self-efficacy, autonomous motivation, health care providers' autonomy support, family relatedness, and autonomy were factors with a direct influence on the self-care adherence among the first stroke patients. This model explained 41.6% of the variance in self-care adherence. It is necessary to focus on the stroke self-efficacy, autonomous motivation, health care providers' autonomy support, family relatedness, and autonomy when planning strategies and interventions to improve self-care adherence of first stroke patients. The results of this study can be used as a basis for the development of a nursing intervention program that can improve the self-care adherence of first stroke patients and will provide a direction for continuous research.

        간호대학생의 자기주도적 학습역량, 감성지능, 자아탄력성이 임상수행능력에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to confirm the degree of the self-directed learning ability, emotional intelligence ego-resilience and clinical performance ability among nursing students who experienced online class in the COVID-19 situation and evaluation the influencing factors of clinical performance ability. An attempt was made to identify and provide basic data for program development to improve clinical performance ability in nursing students. To investigate the effect of self-directed learning ability, emotional intelligence and ego-resilience on clinical performance ability. The research method was descriptive research. Data were 126 students collected from Feb 1 to March 20 in 2023 using structured questionnaires as nursing students. Collected data were analysis using descriptive statistics, t-teat, ANOVA, Cronbach’s, Pearson’s correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis with SPSS/WIN 21.0. There were a significant differences in clinical performance ability according to the major satisfaction and practice satisfaction. The clinical performance ability was significantly correlated with self-directed learning ability(r=.552, p<.001), emotional intelligence(r=.642, p<.001) and ego-resilience(r=.531, p<.001). Factors influencing clinical performance ability were emotional intelligence, ego-resilience, self-directed learning ability in that order, which explained 43.5%(F=17.40, p<.001) of the variance. Therefore, in order to improve the clinical performance ability of nursing students, it is necessary to develop and apply various teaching method and programs that can strengthen emotional intelligence, ego-resilience and self-directed learning ability.

        아퐁 모이와 마주 보다: 『중국 귀부인』(2018)을 통해 보는 아시아 여성 주체와 새로운 관객성

        In light of emerging interest in the long-overlooked figure of Afong Moy, purported to be the very first Chinese woman to set foot in the United States, this essay analyzes Lloyd’s Suh’s 2018 play The Chinese Lady. Widely publicized as “The Chinese Lady,” Moy performed mundane rituals of Chinese culture before the American public in numerous venues including P. T. Barnum’s famous American Museum from 1834 to 1851. The Chinese Lady reconstructs the highly racialized and gendered exhibition space to interrogate the convoluted relationship between the Asian female body on display and the audience. Focusing on the play’s critique of the construction of Asian womanhood in a theatrical space, this essay argues for the importance of the subversive possibilities of performative acts and alternative ways of looking that goes beyond the coercive logic of objectification and the rigid binary of subject/object embedded in spectatorship.

        한국인 다시 되기: 최근 미국 연극에 나타난 성인 입양인의 귀환과 젠더 연습

        The essay examines two contemporary American plays that portray adult Korean American adoptees’ return to South Korea: How to Be a Korean Woman (2012) by Sunmee Chomet and Middle Brother (2014) by Eric Sharp. While the existing scholarship on transnational adoption has discussed homecoming as a predominantly female experience of birth mothers and daughters, Chomet and Sharp suggest the differing ways in which the adoptee subjectivity is re-imagined in particularly gendered ways after homecoming. In these plays, adult adoptees’ repeated, mundane bodily performances of Korean cultural norms illustrate how notions of femininity and masculinity are inscribed onto the body of adoptee individuals under the patriarchal system. Such performative construction of Korean-ness departs from the earlier theatrical representations of young, adolescent adoptees’ homecoming that served as a symbolic rite of passage, a necessary process through which they would gain cultural hybridity and mature into cosmopolitan American-ness.

        Put Yourself in White Shoes: Race and Translation in a Korean Production of Songs of the Dragons Flying to Heaven

        This essay examines the 2017 Korean production of Young Jean Lee’s Songs of the Dragons Flying to Heaven (Yongbiŏch’ŏn’ga [용비어천가]) as a case study to consider the construction of racialized spectatorship. While the production revealed the conundrums of staging Lee’s multicultural and multiracial text, the aesthetic failure allows us to rethink the construction of racialized spectatorship in modern and contemporary Korean theater. Re-enacted by Korean actors for Korean audiences, Yongbiŏch’ŏn’ga inevitably created ruptures between the original text and its translation. Such ruptures, which unveil the differences between the original and its translation, help us to rethink the prevalent notion of translation as seamless and invisible. I argue that the production called for a specific kind of racialized performance on the part of the audience— namely, putting themselves in the shoes of white liberal audiences to better understand the play’s original intention, and thus temporarily withholding their uneasy feelings of racial tension. This collective gesture in theater for a “universal” understanding of the play calls attention to existing processes in the Korean theater in which spectatorship has been covertly constructed in white terms, where audiences, over time, have been disciplined into “raced subjects.”

        Effects of Therataining Self-walking Observation Training on Balance and Gait of Stroke Patients

        The purpose of the present study is to determine the effect of treadmill training with theratainment self-walking observation on balance and gait of patients with strokes. The study chose 40 stroke patients and they were divided into 20 treadmill group whit self-walking observation training and 20 general treadmill group randomly. Each group of the subjects had their own program five times a week for 30 min per program for four weeks. Their muscle activity, balance, and walking were measured before and after the training. Muscle activities were measured from rectus femoris, biceps femoris, gastrocnemius, and tibialis anterior muscle and Berg Balance Scale was used to measure balance. For walking ability, 10 m walking test, six-min walking test, and dynamic gait index were used. significant differences in muscle activity, balance, and gait were found in self-walking observation training group, and also significant differences in muscle activity and balance were revealed in general treadmill group too. The present study result proved that self-walking observation training improved muscle activity, balance, and gait of stroke patients who received feedback after observation their own incorrect center of mass and moving status. This results means that self-walking observation training is suitable for stroke patients who need proper muscle activity, balance, and gait abilities as systematic and continuous exercise because it can help stroke patients to modify their own gait visually thereby attraction interest.

        팀기반학습을 활용한 콘택트렌즈 관리 교육 프로그램 개발 및 효과

        본 연구는 콘택트렌즈 관리 교육 프로그램을 개발하고 팀기반학습을 활용하여 여대생들에게 적용한 후 콘택트렌즈 관리 지식, 안구건조증 및 눈 피로에 미치는 효과를 확인하고자 시도된 유사실험연구이다. 연구대상자는 콘택트렌즈를 착용 중인 여대생으로 2015년 9월 30일부터 10월 28일까지 중재에 참여한 61명이다. 연구진행 과정은 ADDIE 교수설계모형을 토대로 콘택트렌즈 관리 교육 프로그램을 개발 후 팀기반학습을 적용하고 그 효과에 대한 가설을 검증하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN 21.0 통계프로그램을 사용하여 동질성 검증 및 가설검증을 실시하였으며 교육프로그램 만족도를 살펴보았다. 연구결과 실험군의 콘택트렌즈 관리 지식, 안구건조증, 눈 피로는 대조군보다 유의하게 향상되었다. 결론적으로 팀기반학습을 활용한 콘택트렌즈 관리 교육 프로그램은 여대생의 콘택트렌즈 관리 지식 정도를 높이고, 평소 올바른 콘택트렌즈 사용 습관을 길러주어 안구건조증 예방 및 눈 피로를 낮추는데 크게 기여할 것으로 사료되며 초, 중, 고교의 학교 보건교육이나 지역사회 건강증진 교육 프로그램의 자료로도 활용할 것을 제안한다. The purpose of this study was to develop a contact lens care education program and apply it to female university students using team-based learning, and then to identify the effects on contact lens care knowledge, dry eye and eye fatigue. Quasi-experimental studies using pre and post design. The study subjects were female university students wearing contact lens, with 61 students participating in the intervention from Sept. 30 to Oct. 28, 2015. The research process is to develop a contact lens care education program based on the ADDIE instructional design model, apply team-based learning, and verify hypotheses about its effects. The collected data was conducted using the SPSS WIN 21.0 statistical program to verify homogeneity and hypothesis verification, and to check the satisfaction level of the educational program. As a result, the contact group contact lens care knowledge, dry eye syndrome and eye fatigue of the experimental group were significantly improved than the control group. In conclusion, the contact lens care program using team-based learning is expected to contribute to the improvement of contact lens care knowledge of female university students and to the usual use of proper contact lens habits to prevent dry eye syndrome and reduce eye fatigue. It is also suggested to be used as a resource for school health education or community health promotion education programs.
