        유기태 철과 효모철의 첨가급여가 육계의 성장 및 체조성에 미치는 영향

        This study was carried out to investigate the effects of dietary Saccharomyces cerevisiae (wild yeast mutant) and Saccharomyces cerevisiae hFeHLC (ferritin containing yeast) and chelated Fe on growth performance and body composition of broiler chicks. A total of 252 (1-day old) "Ross" broiler chicks were allotted to seven dietary treatments: 1) control without iron supplementation, 2) 0.1% wild yeast mutant (YM03), 3) 1.0% wild yeast mutant, 4) 0.1% ferritin containing yeast (YF04), 5) 1.0% ferritin containing yeast, 6) 0.01% chelated Fe and 7) 0.1% chelated Fe. The highest weight gain obtained from broilers fed 0.01% chelated Fe was 2,121g, the lowest weight gain obtained from broilers fed control diet was 2.087g. The growth performance results were not significantly different in weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion ratio of broilers diets containing wild yeast, ferritin containing yeast and chelated Fe supplementation and control diets (P>0.05). The lowest iron content in meat was for control 30.51 mg/dL and the highest Fe content was for 0.1% ferritin containing yeast 41.58 mg/dL, but these were not significantly different (P>0.05). 본 연구는 유기태 철과 효모철의 첨가가 육계의 생산성 및 체조성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 연구하였다. 공시동물은 Ross broiler 252수로 7처리 6반복 반복당 6수씩 사양시험을 실시하였다. 처리구는 1) 대조구, 2) YM03 0.1%, 3) YM03 1.0%, 4) YF04 0.1%, 5) YF04 1.0%, 6) 유기태 Fe 0.01% 및 7) 유기태 Fe 0.1%로 총 7처리로 나누어 실시하였다. 증체량은 대조구가 2,087 g으로 낮게 나타났으며, 유기태 Fe 0.01% 첨가구가 2.121 g으로 나타나 대조구보다 높은 경향을 보였Table 7. Effects of Fe source on development of intestinal organs in broiler (g)으나 통계적인 유의차는 보이지 않았다(P>0.05). 사료섭취량은 대조구는 3,797 g으로 낮게 나타났으며, YM03 1.0% 첨가구가 3,827 g으로 높게 나타나 대조구보다 높은 경향을 보였으나 통계적인 유의차는 보이지 않았다(P>0.05). 도체 Fe 함량은 대조구가 30.51 mg/dL로 낮게 나타났으며, YF04 0.1 % 첨가구가 41.58 mg/dL로 높게 나타나 대조구보다 높은 경향을 보였으나 통계적인 유의차는 보이지 않았다(P>0.05). 육계에서 사료내 유기태 철 또는 효모철의 첨가는 도체내 철의 함량을 강화시키고 철분이 강화된 축산물 생산이 가능할 것으로 사료되나 사업화하기 위해서는 추후에 더욱 체계적인 연구가 요구된다.

        A Case of Cerebral Erdheim-Chester Disease With Progressive Cerebellar Syndrome

        Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare non-Langerhans form of histiocytosis. Cerebellar involvement is rare in this syndrome. We report a 37-year-old woman with slowly progressive cerebellar ataxia, dysmetria of limbs, nystagmus, and dysarthria, bilateral painful axillary masses, and generalized arthralgia. Brain MRI revealed cerebellar atrophy with focal lesions in the pons, middle cerebellar peduncle, and the cerebellum. She underwent incisional biopsy of her axillary masses which showed findings consistent with ECD. An MRI of her lower extremities revealed lesions in the diaphyses, metaphyses, and epiphyses of the proximal tibia and distal femur bilaterally. This is a rare case of cerebral ECD with progressive cerebellar syndrome associated with cerebellar atrophy.

        Whole-Genome Analysis in Korean Patients with Autoimmune Myasthenia Gravis

        Purpose: The underlying cause of myasthenia gravis (MG) is unknown, although it likely involves a genetic component. However, no common genetic variants have been unequivocally linked to autoimmune MG. We sought to identify the genetic variants associated with an increased or decreased risk of developing MG in samplesfrom a Korean Multicenter MG Cohort. Materials and Methods: To determinenew genetic targets related to autoimmune MG, a whole genome-based single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) analysis was conducted using an AxiomTM Genome-Wide ASI 1 Array, comprising 598375 SNPs and samples from 109 MG patientsand 150 neurologically normal controls. Results: In total, 641 SNPs from five case-control associations showed p-values of less than 10-5. From regional analysis, we selected seven candidate genes (RYR3, CACNA1S, SLAMF1, SOX5, FHOD3, GABRB1, and SACS) for further analysis. Conclusion: The present study suggests that a few genetic polymorphisms, such as in RYR3, CACNA1S, and SLAMF1, might be related to autoimmune MG. Our findings also encourage furtherstudies, particularly confirmatory studies with larger samples, to validate and analyze the association between these SNPs and autoimmune MG.

        Pneumomediastinum Due to Intractable Hiccup as the Presenting Symptom of Multiple Sclerosis

        Pneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema generally occurs following trauma to the esophagus or lung. It also occurs spontaneously in such situations of elevating intra- thoracic pressure as asthma, excessive coughing or forceful straining. We report here on the rare case of a man who experienced the signs of pneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema after a prolonged bout of intractable hiccup as the initial presenting symptoms of multiple sclerosis.

        A Case of Adult-Onset Centronuclear Myopathy

        Centronuclear myopathy (CNM) is a rare congenital myopathy that is characterized by centrally placed nuclei in the muscle fibers. Based on the time of onset and the mode of inheritance, CNM can be divided into three distinct forms: the severe neonatal form, the childhood onset form, and the adult onset form. This paper describes the case of a female patient with CNM, in whom the disease manifested itself in the fifth decade of life, without any prior family history of such disorders. To the best of our knowledge, this is a rare case of late adult-onset CNM.

        근위축성측삭경화증 환자에서 경부 척수 자기공명영상을 통한 경부 척추증의 평가

        Background: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive degenerative disease involving upper and lower motor neurons, which leads to respiratory paralysis and death. Although ALS has been well known to be combined with cervical spondylosis, its frequency has not been established. The purpose of this study is to investigate the frequency of the cervical spondylosis in patients with ALS. Methods: We evaluated the frequency and degree of spinal stenosis in ALS patients using cervical MRI. The study groups were composed of 30 ALS patients and 30 healthy controls. Using the T2-weighted cervical MRI, we measured the anteroposterior diameters of the cord and canal in the sagittal and axial views at the narrowest and C3-4 levels, and calculated the ratios of cord/canal (CCr). We also measured the areas of the cord and canal in the axial views at the narrowest and C3-4 levels. Results: Of the 30 patients, 20 (66.7%) had cervical spondylosis. On sagittal and axial view, the average CCr at the narrowest/C3-4 level were 71.2±10.4/67.8±9.6% and 73.1±9.3/71.3±8.2% in ALS, and 59.2±4.4/56.7±5.9% and 62.5±5.6/60.4±6.4% in controls. The area of spinal cord at the narrowest/C3-4 level was 69.1±9.8/70.3±8.7 mm2 in ALS, and 78.4±11.3/78.9±10.8 mm2 in controls. The area of canal at the narrowest/C3-4 level was 149.7±12.5/151.5±7.8 mm2 in ALS, and 172.5±12.5/173.8±11.6 mm2 in controls. Conclusions: Our results showed the high frequency of cervical spondylosis and spinal cord atrophy in ALS.

        유기태 철과 효모 철의 첨가가 산란계의 생산성 및 난 성분에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 유기태 철과 효모 철의 첨가가 산란계의 생산성 및 난 성분에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 시험을 실시하였다. 공시동물은 갈색 테트라 산란계를 이용하였으며, 35주령 245수를 총 7처리 5반복 반복당 7수씩 임의배치 하여 9주간 사양시험을 실시하였다. 처리구는 1) 대조구, 2) YM03 $0.1\%$, 3) YM03 $1.0\%$, 4) YF04 $0.1\%$, 5) YF04 $1.0\%$, 6) chelated Fe $0.01\%$ 및 7) chelated Fe $0.1\%$로 나누었다. 산란율은 YF04 $1.0\%$ 처리구가 $97.09\%$으로 가장 높았으며, 대조구에 비해 통계적인 유의차를 보였다(P<0.05). 난중은 chelated Fe $0.1\%$가 가장 낮게 나타났다(P<0.05). 난황내 Fe 함량은 YF04 $1.0\%$ 처리구와 chelated Fe$0.1\%$처리구가 증가하여 통계적인 차이를 보였다(P<0.05). 난형태, 난백색, 난황지수는 철 처리구들이 대조구에 비해 감소하는 경향을 보였으나 통계적인 유의차는 보이지 않았다 (P>0.05). 그러나 호유닛은 YM03 처리구, YF04 처 리구 및 chelated Fe 처리구에서 증가하여 유의차를 보였다(P<0.05). 산패도(TBA)은 YM03 $1.0\%$ 처리구가 3.98로 가장 높았으며 대조구가 2.85으로 가장 낮았다(P<0.05). 관능검사 결과 외형은 YF04 $1.0\%$ 처리구가 3.64으로 높게 나타났으며 YM03 $0.1\%$ 처리구가 3.00으로 가장 낮았다(P>0.05). 색은 YF04 $1.0\%$ 처리구가 4.00으로 높았으며 YF04 $0.1\%$ 처리구는 2.93으로 가장 낮았다(P<0.05). 다즙성은 YF04 $1.0\%$ 처리구가 3.50으로 가장 높게 나타났으며 YM03 $0.1\%$와 YM03 $1.0\%$ 처리구가 각각 3.07로 낮았다 (P>0.05). A total of 245 'Brown Tetra' layers 35 weeks aged was randomly alloted to seven dietary treatments : 1) control diet no iron added, 2) diet supplemented $0.1\%$ wild yeast mutant (YM03), 3) diet supplemented $1.0\%$ wild yeast mutant (YM03), 4) diet supplemented $0.1\%$ ferritin with yeast (YF04), 5) diet supplemented $1.0\%$ ferritin with yeast (YF04), 6) diet supplemented $0.01\%$ chelated Fe and 7) diet supplemented $0.1\%$ chelated Fe. The egg Production rate was significantly increased in layers 134 Fe supplemented diets (p<0.05). Egg weight was significantly reduced in layers fed $0.1\%$ chelated Fe diet (P<0.05). Fe content of egg yolk was significantly increased in $1.0\%$ YF04 and $0.1\%$ chelated Fe treatments (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in shape index, albumin index and yolk index of eggs of layers fed diets Fe supplementation (P>0.05). The haugh unit of eggs was significantly increased in layers fed YM03, YF04 and chelated Fe supplemented diets (p<0.05). TBA value of egg was significantly increased in different iron Fe treatments except of $0.1\%$ YM03 (P<0.05). The yolk cole. of eggs was significantly increased in $1.0\%$ YF04 diet (P<0.05).
