Since inflammatory myofibroblastic turner was initially recognized in the lung, this tumor has been described in other extrapulmonary sites. In spite of relatively uniform histologic findings in various organs, a rarity in extrapulmonary sites and highly vascular characteristics frequently lead to a misdiagnosis in preoperative radiology and fine needle aspiration cytology. We present a case of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor occurring in the mesentery of a 4-month-old girl. Fine needle aspiration cytology smear disclosed characteristic spindle cells intermixed with prominent mature plasma cells and lymphocytes. According to the immunohistochemical staining, we recognized that the intervening spindle cells are myofibroblasts which have reactivity for the both actin and vimentin.

This study reports the rebound characteristics of a liquid droplet impinging on a static droplet deposited on the surfaces, and investigates the influence of several factors such as offset distance (defined L) which is defined as the distance between the two droplet centers, liquid volume of the static droplet, surface wettability, and impact velocity on the post-impingement behavior. Two aligned high-speed cameras were used in the experiments: the first camera (HG-LE, Redlake) was used to capture the digital images in front view at 2000 images/s with a 5 μs exposure time with the use of a Telecentric lens (TEC-M55, Computar). Another high-speed camera (Hotshot 1280, NAC) and a Telecentric lens (TML-HP lens, Edmund) were used at 1000 images/s to identify droplet sphericity and control axis alignment during the experiment. All the images captured from the experiments were analyzed using an open-source Java image-processing program (ImageJ). From the results, it was surprisingly found that such an anomalous rebound takes place under a certain value of offset distance at a limited range of Weber number lower than 7.0. It is hypothesized that this rebound can be caused by the formation of air dimple at the interface between two droplet surfaces. From the experimental results, it was revealed that there exists a transitional regime between coalescence and rebound which is closely associated with the surface wettability, liquid volume, offset distance, and Weber number

This article illustrates the temperature dependent spreading and receding characteristics of a Newtonian and a non-Newtonian droplet impact on a heated solid surface at different Weber numbers with surface temperatures. To make non-Newtonian droplets, a xanthan gum solution was used with different concentrations. From a high-speed camera images, spreading and receding diameters were captured during the impact process. For impact velocity and solid surface temperature, distinct differences in spreading and receding motions were found between Newtonian and non-Newtonian droplets. If a solid surface temperature increases, the maximum spreading diameter slightly increased at DI-water droplet whereas the maximum spreading diameters of xanthan gum droplets were similar for all surface temperatures. This is due to viscosity change on thin liquid lamella contact with heated surface. The receding phenomena could be clearly distinguished on the heated surface. The retraction rate of a xanthan gum droplet increased by increase Weber number whereas DI-water droplets were constant. Because both shear thinning and heat affected liquid lamella influenced a droplet receding, shear viscosity of the xanthan gum droplets decreased faster than the DI-water.
유전적 고혈압 발병에 대한 Calcineurin 및 PKB/Akt의 연관성

Severe hypertension (>180 mmHg) develops in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) after 12 wk-old; however, it is not clear whether what kinds of molecular mechanism leads to altered cardiac performance following developmental stages in SHR. Also, although the effect of calcineurin (Cn) to promote cardiomyocyte hypertrophy in vivo and in vitro is established, its overall necessity as a hypertrophic mediator is currently an area of ongoing debate. Thus, we have examined i) body weight and blood pressure, ii) differences of expression and distribution of signaling molecules such as Cn, protein kinase B/Akt (PKB/Akt), and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) between SHR and their age-matched control Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats following developmental stages. In 16 wk-old SHR compared with WKY, 2-dimentional echocardiography showed cardiac enlargement and hypertrophy of left ventricle, significantly. Taken together, we suggest that Cn is associated with hereditary cardiac hypertrophy, the process being related to the molecular signaling mechanisms involving PKB/Akt and ERK.

Epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (EMC) is a rare low grade malignant tumor of the salivary glands and it shows a characteristic biphasic population of epithelium and myoepithelium. It shows various cytologic and histologic features, so making an exact diagnosis is difficult. We report here on two cases of epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma arising from the parotid gland and we compare the cytologic findings of the aspirated samples with the histologic findings of the tumors. We think the finding of mixed pattern of large, clear myoepithelia and small epithelia is the most valuable finding in the diagnosis of EMC.
표면 기능화된 단일벽 탄소나노튜브/에폭시 복합체의 분산 및 열전도도 특성

단일벽 탄소나노튜브(single-walled carbon nanotube, SWCNT)의 우수한 열적 특성을 이용하여 에폭시 수지의 열전도도 특성을 향상시키기 위해 SWCNT와 에폭시 수지 복합체를 제작하여 열전도도를 측정하였다. SWCNT에 카보닐기와 아민기를 도입하여 분산도 향상을 유도하였으며 diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA)와 bisphenol F (DGEBF) 두 종류의 에폭시 레진에 각각의 SWCNT를 첨가하여 제작한 복합체들은 파단면 분석을 통하여 분산 특성을 관찰하였다. 각 복합체의 분산도는 표면 처리를 거치면서 생성된 극성분자와 에폭시 간의 상호작용으로 인하여 SWCNT를 첨가한 것이 순수한 SWCNT 복합체와 비교하여 높은 분산성을 나타내었다. SWCNT/에폭시 복합체의 열전도도는 DGEBA와 DGEBF 두 종류의 에폭시에서 산처리한 SWCNT 복합체가 가장 높은 값을 가지는 것으로 측정되었다. Single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)/Epoxy composites were prepared for improving thermal conductivities and dispersion of SWCNTs in the epoxy matrix. Composites obtained different types of SWCNTs which are pristine and functionalized of the SWCNTs by acid and amine treatments. Three types of SWCNTs were dispersed in diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) and bisphenol F (DGEBF). Enhanced interaction between functional groups on SWCNT and epoxy resins was evidenced by an improvement in the dispersion of the SWCNTs in the epoxy matrix. Thermal conductivity of composites containing acid SWCNTs were found to be much better than those containing pristine and amine treated SWCNTs.
