        Efeect of Macrophytes on Biological Treatments of Processed-Leachate from Sanitary Landfill Sites

        Phragmites australis, Zizania latifolia and Typha angustifoliawere grown in mono culture in order to compare growth (relative biomass increase rate), variation of photosynthetic pigment (total chlorophyll, Chl a, Chl b and Chl a/Chl b) and effectiveness of nutriment removal in 15‰ NaCl-salt solution or processed-leachate (salinity 19.6‰) from sanitary landfill sites. The relative biomass increase rate of P. australis was significantly higher than Z. latifolia and T. angustifolia. In the case of P. australiswere 178 %, 148 % and 157 %, respectively. Also, in 15 ‰ NaCl-salt solution treatment, the relative biomass increase rates of P. australis increased as folows; 161 % (above-part), 183 % (rhizome) and 112 % (root). Total chlorophyll contents increased significantly in the leaves of P. australis and Z. latifolia grown in 15 ‰ NaCl-salt solution and processed-leachate. Among three macrophytes, P. australis was evaluated as most effective macrophyte for the biological retreatment of processed-leachate from sanitary landfill sites.

        Ring-dot-shaped Multilayer Piezoelectric Step-down Transformers Using PZT-based Ceramics

        In this study, multilayer piezo stack transformers for switching mode power supply (SMPS) application were manufactured using 0.01Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3 - 0.08Pb(Mn1/3Nb2/3)O3 -0.91Pb(Zr0.505Ti0.495)O3 (PNN-PMN-PZT) ceramics. The voltage ratio of a multilayer piezo stack transformer showed a maximum at the resonance frequency of the input and then increased with increasing load resistance. The efficiency of the multilayer piezo stack transformer showed its highest value at around the matching load. The output power increased with increasing input voltage. The temperature of the multilayer piezo stack transformer increased with increasing output power and load resistance. The manufactured multilayer piezo stack transformer could be used up to 5W at a resonance frequency of 70.25 kHz for SMPS application because the temperature rise from room temperature is believed to about 20 ℃ and because the transformer is electrically stable. The newly-developed ring-dot-type step-down multilayer piezo stack transformer shows possible applications as SMPS for electronic power sources with excellent input-to-output properties.

      • 액체로켓엔진 Simulink 비선형 동적 모델에 적용하기 위한 Simulink Unscented Kalman Filter

        Simulink로 작성된 가스발생기 사이클 액체로켓엔진 비선형 동적 모델을 이용하여 상태변수의 일부를 고려하는 localized unscented Kalman filter (LUKF)를 작성하고, 이를 이용하여 모델의 성능과 오류부분을 체계적으로 검토하여 모델 개선을 효과적으로 수행할 수 있다. 궁극적으로 측정결과를 이용하여 고장, 작동불능을 예측하고 그 원인이 되는 부위를 추정할 수 있으며, 시스템에서 측정하지 않거나 하지 못하는 상태를 파악할 수 있다. 이를 위한 기본 작업으로 단순한 van der pole 모델을 이용하여 비선형동적 모델에서 올바르게 작동하는 UKF를 simulink로 오류 없이 작성하였으며, 이 simulink UKF는 터보펌프-가스발생기 simulink 모델 (액체로켓엔진 비선형 동적 simulink에서 연소기를 오리피스로 간략화한 모델)을 이용한 LUKF에 적용하였다. We can analyze systematically a liquid rocket engine simulink nonlinear dynamic model and perform model updates effectively by using localized unscented Kalman filter (LUKF) where the model is implemented. Eventually, we can forecast failures and malfunctions of the system, identify the causes of them, and, estimate the unmeasured or unmeasurable states of the system. For the purpose of basic preparation for this big task, we made unscented Kalman filter (UKF) simulink program using simple Van der Pole oscillator model and showed it works properly. Then we applied the simulink UKF to the LUKF that uses Turbo pump-gas generator simulink model which is a liquid rocket engine simulink nonlinear dynamic model where combustion chamber is replaced with orifices.

        콜하스와 츄미의 라 빌레뜨 공원 계획안 비교 분석 - 드로잉에 나타난 점, 선, 면의 구성과 작동을 중심으로 -

        International Competition for Parc de la Villette has evoked the old architectural question that is about the conflict between unchanging architecture and ever changing time. Tschumi and Koolhaas suggested well-known solutions for it, both of which had started from the criticism of general urban design approach that ignored changing factors in time. However, this study argues that the approaches of Tschumi and Koolhaas are even opposite to each other in spite of their common aims. Influenced by deconstructivists' theories, Tschumi tries to generate the 'text' on the surface of la Villette so that the different users of the park can read it differently. The text is built by 'superimposing' different systems such as points, lines, and surfaces. This study criticizes such formalistic approach since such 'forms' do not generate any dialogue with the real users but just stay as a backdrop for irrelevant events. Meanwhile, Koolhaas concentrates on the 'ground-ness' of la Villette. What he deals with is the real ground which embraces all the potentials on it already. His 'bands' express nothing but the metamorphosis of the ground, and the ground generates the 'differences' out of itself by repeating itself ceaselessly. This study tries to clarify all those happenings and meanings by intimate investigation of various drawing works for the la Villette project by Tschumi and Koolhaas.

        러시아의 재외동포정책

        The collapse of the USSR bequeathed plenty of problems to the Russian Federation. One of the most important issues is related to the overseas russians in the Commonwealth of Independent States(CIS). To understand this problem we have to know three tensely related issues. First issue is the conditions surrounding overseas russians. Second is the policies of the newly independent states on overseas russians. The last is policies of the Russian Federation on overseas russians. The economic and political situations of the overseas russians are various according to the place of the residence. But few of them enjoy stable life, which was the main reason for Russian Government to engage in the protection of the civil rights and freedom of the overseas russians. Meanwhile, Russian Government wants overseas russians to play a role of a leverage to excercise influence over the countries of the former USSR. With the introduction of the new Civil Law in 2002 favorable conditions for overseas russians disappeared, which was resurrected by the presidential decree in 2006. But whether the decree means that Russian Government intends to exercise influence over the countries of the former USSR is now uncertain.

        Properties of Step-down Multilayer Piezo Stack Transformers Using PNN-PMN-PZT Ceramics with CeO_2 Addition

        In order to fabricate multilayer piezo stack transformers, we investigated the influences of the sintering temperature and the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Pb(Ni_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))-Pb(Mn_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))-Pb(Zr_(0.505)Ti_(0.495))O_3 (PNN-PMN-PZT) ceramics with CeO_2 additives due to their effects of grain growth suppression. Meanwhile, the effects of CeO_2 additives on the microstructure and the electrical properties of PNN-PMN-PZT were investigated in detail. In addition, multilayer piezo stack transformers with the composition of PNN-PMN-PZT were fabricated, and the characteristics were measured for various load resistances at resonance frequency. The voltage stepup ratio was continuously changed with increasing input voltage and load resistance. The output voltages and powers were increased with increasing input voltage at matching impedance. The temperature rise of the multilayer piezo stack transformer increased with increasing input voltage and load resistance. These results indicate that the optimized properties of ceramics, d_(33) = 274 pC/N, K_p = 0.55, Q_m = 2581, ε_r = 1474, density = 7.899 g/cm^3, and tanδ = 0.0031, were obtained at a sintering temperature of 1250 ℃. Meanwhile, multilayer piezo stack transformers a sintered at 1250 ℃ showed favorable characteristics with a power of 5 W at 150 Ω.
