Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to analyze accessibility from the ground to the underground indoor space through the sunken space of the university’s underground campus, identify problems, and suggest directions for improvement. As a theoretical consideration, based on the theory of sunken space and accessibility, analysis items such as ease of walking and space openness are derived in terms of function as a pedestrian use. In addition visual and perceptual accessibility was derived through Gestalt Theory to complete the analysis framework of sunken space. Method: The analysis method used field visit surveys and multifaceted literature research. Sunken space containing means of vertical connection such as stairs, ramps, elevators, and escalators were targeted at Hana Square at Korea University, ECC at Ewha Womans University, and Baekyangnuri at Yonsei University. Result: To summarize the results of the study, first, visual perception is influenced by closure, proximity, similarity and continuity. Second, natural movement lines from the ground and the placement of entrances must be carefully considered. Third, the spatial openness of the sunken space should be increased so that it becomes a place where additional activities such as the underground indoor space can be seen or where additional activities such as resing functions occur.

Vol.15 No.8
(Background and Purpose) Today, museums in Korea and abroad are steadily increasing their various exhibitions and curriculums to take responsibility for the socially and culturally alienated class and play a public role, and in particular, exhibitions and education programs for the visually impaired are actively increasing in that ordinary people can also experience them through multi-sensory elements other than visual recognition. In this study, we will analyze the cases of museums for the visually impaired and learn about the ways and characteristics of museums for the visually impaired. (Method) First of all, based on the research data on the characteristics of the residual cognitive sense and orientation of the visually impaired, this study embodies the method of case analysis through the consideration of the spatial perception and exhibition experience of the visually impaired in the museum. Second, the presentation characteristics of the space suitable for the cognitive characteristics of the visually impaired are derived and the spatial exposure and development methods that appear in the museum visits of the blind are classified and conceptualized. Third, the scope of the case is selected as overseas cases where exhibition and education programs are currently underway for the blind and the spatial experience characteristics of the blind are selected as the framework of the research. Fourth, based on the case analysis conducted, it reveals what the spatial components of the museum fit the cognitive characteristics of the blind are. (Results) The analysis results of this study are as follows. In the space of the Blind Museum, the first, based on the spatial cognitive characteristics of the blind, the various sensory elements simultaneously present synesthetic action elements that stimulate the blind, and such experiences could be made more abundant in a series of spaces that give continuity to the space. Second, empirical factors of older people stimulated previous experiences and accumulated them as new experiences, stimulating imagination and inducing creative thinking. Third, through voluntary viewing and guided experience, one can experience the experience of space, such as tension, diversity, and change, even in the stagnant space, and analyze that it consists of a comprehensive architectural space at the end of the space experience. (Conclusions) This study aims to analyze the exhibition structure and spatial characteristics of the case of the Overseas Blind Museum to propose the form of a museum space composition system that allows the blind to understand and accept information more effectively, and to suggest basic data that can be used to plan exhibitions of the Blind Museum or organize space elements in the future.

Even during fast-changing economic times, our society has continued to prioritize children’s education. The way we teach kids has shifted from just memorizing facts to focusing more on how they think and learn. This change was largely inspired by psychologist Jean Piaget’s ideas about how kids develop their thinking abilities by interacting with their surroundings and through various experiences. This understanding has led to more hands-on learning opportunities in educational settings for kids. The role of children’s museums as educational places has become more significant. The number of these museums has been growing for the past twenty years. We now need to check if these museums are effectively using concepts from cognitive development in their displays and activities. We also need to carefully design these places with kids in mind. Therefore, this study aims to look into how children’s museums can be designed to help with kids’ thinking development, as suggested by Piaget’s theories.

Elementary schools become a vessel that captures students in the most important stage of growth in which spatial cognition develops. Therefore, in the process of establishing and developing children’s values, the implications of the elementary school space are enormous. Looking at this from the perspective of CPTED, a desirable elementary school gently alleviates the potential violence of students, gently corrects the moment to solve one’s needs with the logic of irrational power, and creates a safe social environment for children who will grow up with human resources of future generations. However, CPTED has not yet presented aesthetic guidelines for interior design. The temporal range of this study is 4 places completed since 2000, and the spatial range is for elementary schools to which CPTED standards completed at home and abroad are applied. The scope of content is to analyze the process by which the standards of CPTED expand from generation to generation, to define the principle of aesthetic CPTED by combining interdisciplinary environmental psychology and the existing CPTED concept, and to derive it as a concept that can be parallel to the existing 1st to 3rd generations of CPTED. And based on this, CPTED elements applied to elementary schools were analyzed through case analysis. As a result, although the elementary school spaces meet the standards of CPTED administratively, they are not sufficient for students from a design point of view. We hope that through this study, CPTED will be able to function properly from the perspective of interior design.
