        2002년 농약중독 사망자 통계청 자료 분석 및 제초제 중독으로 인한 사망사고 예방 대책

        Backgrounds: Deaths from pesticides poisoning has increased annually, but no studies have been reported. Especially paraquat is suspected to be a major material in pesticide poisoning deaths. In Korea, simple epidemiology of pesticides poisoning is not well known. So, there is no effective method to prevent pesticides poisoning. We tried to investigate the present status of pesticides poisoning with data from Korea National Statistical Office and suggest an effective counterplan. Methods: We analysed death cause data derived from Korean Statistical association, deaths causes being pesticides poisoning in the year 2002. Also, we investigated data from internet, mainly from Korea National Statistical Office home page. Results: Total 2,875 persons died after pesticides poisoning in 2002 year. Average age is 54.2 year, standard deviation being 17.7 year. Many victims (about $41\%$) died during the herbicides' non-necessary period (JanuaryMarch, October-December) Conclusion: Herbicides sale should be restricted only during herbicides' necessary period, and so called a pesticides safety supervisor system shall effectively prevent herbicides poisoning.

        Phenotyping analysis of p53 knockout mice produced by gene editing and comparison with conventional p53 knockout mice

        Background Knockout (KO) mice developed by homologous recombination (HR) have become useful tools to elucidate gene function. However, HR has low KO efficiency and is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and expensive. ‘Gene editing’ has received much attention for efficient genetic manipulation. Objective As generation of KO mice is simplified, KO mice produced by HR can be feasibly reproduced using gene editing. However, phenotyping analysis and comparison between KO mice produced by these two techniques is necessary. Methods We generated p53 KO mice through gene editing and compared their phenotype with the already reported HRmediated p53 KO mice. Results Tumors occurred in 36 (73%) of 49 homozygous KO mice and the mean age of occurrence was 23 weeks, with lymphoma (64%) and sarcoma (23%) being the most common. Tumors were also developed in 12 heterozygous mice and the mean age of occurrence was 40 weeks, with sarcoma (54%) and lymphoma (46%) in high proportion. Homozygotes had a mean life span of 157 ± 52 days and developmental abnormalities were found in females compared to in males (P < 0.05, P < 0.001). Conclusion We analyzed the basic phenotype of p53 KO mice and observed no significant difference from the conventional HR-mediated p53 KO mice.

        늑간 신경 냉동요법에 의한 개흉술후 흉부 동통 관리

        Post-thoracotomy pain is so severe that lead to postoperative complications, such as sputum retention, segmental or lobar atelectasis, pneumonia, hypoxia, respiratory failure due to the patient`s inability to cough, deep breathing and movement. Many authors have been trying to reduce the post-thoracotomy pain, but there is no method of complete satisfaction. In 1974, Nelson and associates introduced the intercostal nerve block using the cryoprobe. The application of cold directly to the nerves causes localized destruction of the axons while preserving the endoneurium and connective tissue, thereby introducing a temporary pain block and able to complete regeneration of intercostal nerves. One hundred and two patients, who undergoing axillary or posterolateral thoracotomy at the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in Korea University Medical Center between April 1990 and August 1990, were evaluated the effects of cryoanalgesia for the post-thoracotomy pain reduction. The patients were divided into two groups: Group A, control, the patients without the cryoanalgesia[No.=50], Group B, trial, the patients with cryoanalgesia[No.=52]. Before the thorax closed, in the group A, local anesthetics, 2% lidocaine 3cc, were injected to the intercostal nerves[one level with the thoracotomy, one cranial and caudal intercostal level and level of drainage tube insertion]. In the group B, cryoprobe was directly applied for 1 minute at the same level. Postoperative analgesic effects were evaluated by the scoring system which made arbitrary by author: The pain score 0 to 4, The limitation of motion score 0 to 3, The analgesics consumption score 0 to 3, The total score, the sum of above score, 0 to 10. For the evaluation of immediate analgesic effects, the score were evaluated at the operative day, the first postoperative day, the second postoperative day, and the seventh postoperative day. The effects of incision type, and rib cut to the post-thoracotomy pain were also evaluated. The results were as follows; 1. The intercostal block with cryoanalgesia reduced the immediate postoperative pain significantly compare with control group. 2. The intercostal block with cryoanalgesia improved the motion of the operation side significantly compare with control group. 3. The intercostal block with cryoanalgesia reduced the analgesics requirements at the immediate postoperative periods significantly. 4. The intercostal block with cryoanalgesia lowered the total score significantly compare with control group. 5. The intercostal block with cryoanalgesia were more effective to the mid-axillary incision than to the posterolateral incision 6. The intercostal block with cryoanalgesia were more effective to the patients without rib cut than to the patients with rib cut. 7. No specific complication need to be treated were not occurred during follow-up.

        Monosodium iodoacetate로 유도된 골관절염 동물모델에서 상기생 물추출물의 효과

        Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effects of an aqueous extract from Taxillus chinensis (DC.) Danser (TCE) in Monosodium iodoacetate (MIA)-induced osteoarthritis (OA) rat model. Methods : Sprague Dawley male rats were divided into the following four groups (n=6 per group): Normal (saline control), MIA (MIA-induced OA with vehicle), TCE (MIA-induced with TCE treatment), and IM (MIA-induced with indomethacin treatment). Rats in which OA was induced by MIA were treated with TCE (200 ㎎/㎏) or indomethacin (1 ㎎/㎏) for 4 weeks. Weight-bearing on the hind legs and body weights were measured weekly. At the end of the experiment (3 weeks after MIA injection), serum aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase levels were measured to assess the liver toxicity induced by TCE. Its effects on serum inflammatory cytokine levels and tissue histopathology were also evaluated. Results : TCE restored the hind limb weight-bearing distribution. Serum levels of Interleukin 6 (IL-6), Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) were significantly higher in the MIA group than in the Normal group, but serum IL-6 levels were significantly lower in the TCE group. In the TCE group, the synovial membrane was protected in hematoxylin and eosin and Safranin-O staining, respectively. Conclusions : TCE recovered the hind paw weight bearing distribution, inhibited the production of inflammatory cytokine, and protected synovial tissue and cartilage in the OA rat model. Therefore, TCE appears to be an effective therapeutic agent for treating OA and OA-related symptoms.

        천남성(天南星) 유전자 감별을 위한 DNA 바코드 분석 및 Marker Nucleotide 발굴

        Objectives : Official Arisaematis Rhizoma is described only three species, Arisaema amurnse, Arisaema erubescens, and Arisaema heterophyllum, in national Pharmacopoeia. However, other Arisaema species, Arisaema ringens, Arisaema takesimense and Arisaema serratum, also have been distributed as an inauthentic Arisaematis Rhizoma in the herbal market. To develop a reliable molecular authentication method for Arisaematis Rhizoma in species level, we analyzed DNA barcode regions using six Arisaema species. Methods : Thirty-eight samples of six Arisaema plants species (A. amurense, A. amurense f. serratum, A. heterophyllum, A. takesimense, and A. serratum) were collected from different habitate and nucleotide sequences of DNA barcode regions (rDNA-ITS, matK, and rbcL gene) were analyzed after PCR amplification. The species-specific sequences and phylogenetic relations were estimated using entire sequences of three DNA barcodes based on the analysis of ClastalW and UPGMA, respectively. Results : The comparative analysis of DNA barcode sequences were revealed inter-species specific nucleotides to distinguish the medicinal plant of Arisaema Rhizoma in species levels excluding between A. amurense and its subspecies (A. amurense f. serratum) and A. takesimense and A. serratum, respectively. However, we obtained sequence differences enough to discriminate authentic and inauthentic Arisaematis Rhizoma. Therefore, we suggest that these SNP type molecular genetic markers were an reliable method avaliable to identify official herbal medicines. Conclusions : These marker nucleotides could be useful to identify the official herbal medicines by providing definitive information that can identify original medicinal plant and distinguish from inauthentic adulterants and substitutes.

        여성결혼이민자의 사회참여가 주관적 건강에 미치는 영향

        본 연구의 목적은 여성결혼이민자의 사회참여가 주관적 건강에 미치는 영향을 파악하고, 이 관계에서 지각된 차별의 매개효과를 검증하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 <2012년 전국다문화가족실태조사> 자료를 활용해 경로분석을 실시하였다. 인구사회학적 변인들을 포함하여 모형을 검증한 결과, 사회참여가 활발한 여성결혼이민자의 주관적 건강상태는 불량한 것으로 나타났고, 이 때 지각된 차별은 사회참여와 주관적 건강의 관계를 부분 매개하는 것으로 확인되었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 여성결혼이민자의 주관적 건강상태를 개선할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다. This study aimed to examine the mediating role of perceived discrimination in the relationship between social participation and self-rated health among female marriage immigrants in Korea. To this end, a path analysis was conducted to analyze the data derived from 2012 National Survey of Multicultural Families. The results indicated that social participation was negatively associated with self-rated health; perceived discrimination partially mediated the negative relationship between social participation and self-rated health. Based on the findings, a suggestion was made that could be usefully tapped into improving subjective health of female marriage immigrants in Korea.

        한국 지역복지사업의 어제와 내일 : 산업화, 민주화에서부터 신자유주의까지

        본 논문의 목적은 한국 지역사회 복지활동의 전개 양상을 정치경제학적 관점에서 분석하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 필자는 지역복지사업에 관한 로스만(Rothman)의 고전적 논의를 바탕으로 한국 지역사회복지계의 다양한 실천적 노력들을 크게 세 가지 유형(사회계획/지역사회조직화/지역사회개발)으로 나누고, 분류된 내용들을 산업화와 민주화 그리고 신자유주의적 관점에서 각각 역사분석(historical analysis)을 하였다. 분석 결과 산업화 세력의 집권기에는 사회계획 모형이 선호됐고 지역사회조직화 모형은 배격됐으며, 반대로 민주화 세력의 집권기에는 지역사회조직화 모형에 대한 국가의 제재가 약화됐고 지역사회개발 모형에 대한 사회적 관심이 커졌음이 확인됐다. 한편, 시장중심적 경쟁논리가 확산될 것으로 점쳐지는 향후 신자유주의 질서 속에서 사회계획은 유연화된 서비스 전달로, 지역사회조직화는 이익집단의 압력행사로, 지역사회개발은 지역경제개발로 중대한 변화를 겪을 것으로 예상된다. This study analyzes the historical development of community practice in South Korea from a political-economic perspective. Based on Jack Rothman’s classical discussion on community intervention, this study (1) divided various community intervention efforts in South Korean society into three categories (i.e., social planning, community organizing, and locality development), (2) conducted a historical analysis of each category from the perspective of a clash between the forces of industrialization and democratization, and (3) predicted how each identified practice model would evolve under a new regulatory paradigm - neo-liberalism. Findings revealed that during industrialization, a social planning model was preferred and the community-organizing model was rejected; in contrast, during democratization, state sanctions against community organizing were lifted to a degree and there was growing concern for a locality-based development model. In recent times, under a new neo-liberal mode, in which fierce market-centered competition unfolds, the expectation is that traditional community practice models will transform from social planning to flexible services, from community organizing to interest-group pressure, and from locality development to local economic development.

        rDNA-ITS DNA 바코드 부위 분석을 통한 산초(山椒) 기원종 감별용 유전자 마커 개발

        Objectives : Due to the morphological similarity of the pericarp and description of multi-species in National Pharmacopoeia of Korea and China, the Zanthoxylum Pericarpium is difficult to authenticate adulterant in species levels. Therefore, we introduced the sequence analysis of DNA barcode and identification of single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) to establish a reliable tool for the distinction of Zanthoxylum Pericarpium from its adulterants. Methods : To analyze DNA barcode region, genomic DNA was extracted from twenty-four specimens of authentic Zanthoxylum species and inauthentic adulterant and the individual internal transcribed spacer regions (rDNA-ITS and ITS2) of nuclear ribosomal RNA gene were amplified using ITS1, ITS2-S2F, and ITS4 primer. For identification of species-specific sequences, a comparative analysis was performed using entire DNA barcode sequences. Results : In comparison of four Zanthoxylum ITS2 sequences, we identified 16, 4, 6, and 4 distinct species-specific nucleotides enough to distinguish Z. schinifolium, Z. bungeanum, Z. piperitum, and Z. simulans, respectively. The sequence differences were available genetic marker to discriminate four species. Futhermore, phylogenetic relationship revealed a clear classification between different Zanthoxylum species showing 4 different clusters. These results indicated that comparative analysis of ITS2 DNA barcode was an useful genetic marker to authenticate Zanthoxylum Pericarpium in species levels. Conclusions : The marker nucleotides, enough to distinguish Z. schinifolium, Z. piperitum, Z. bungeanum, and Z. simulans, were obtained at 30 SNP marker nucleotides from ITS2 sequences. These differences could be used to authenticate official Zanthoxylum Pericarpium from its adulterants as well as discriminating each four species.

        HFC32/HFC125 혼합냉매의 히트펌프 성능 평가

        In this study, performance of R410A(50%R32/50%R125) and HFC32/HFC125 mixture is measured to examine the effect of composition shift of R410A used for various air-conditioners and heat pumps. The composition of HFC32/HFC125 mixture varies from the reference composition of R410A ±10% with 5% interval. Tests carried out in a heat pump bench tester at the evaporation and condensation temperatures of 7/45℃ and -7/41℃ for summer and winter conditions, respectively. Test results show that both the coefficient of performance (COP) and compressor power of the HFC32/HFC125 mixture have the maximum difference of 2.0% as compared to those of R410A. Compressor discharge temperatures of HFC32/HFC125 mixture are increased up to 6.7℃ as compared to that of R410A. The amount of charge for HFC32/HFC125 mixture vary within 5.6% as compared to that of R410A. Overall, performance of R410A is not appreciably affected by the composition shift of ±10% of R32 under both air-conditioning and heat pumping conditions.
