        A study was planned to see if administration of ginseng extract has any influence upon the nucleic acid content of the mandibular gland of rats, and to estimate the effect of ACTH administration upon the nucleic acid content of rats previously primed with ginseng. Ninety male rats (body weight: 150-200 gm) were divided into the ginseng, the saline, and the normal groups, which received for 5 days 0.5 ml /100 gm body weight of ginseng extract solution (4 mg of ginseng alcohol extract in 1 ml of saline), same amount of saline, or no medication, respectively. On the 5th experimental day, each of the 3 groups was further divided into 2 subgroups yielding the ginseng, the ginseng-ACTH, the saline, the saline?ACTH, the normal, and the normal-ACTH subgroups. The ginseng, the saline, and the normal subgroups were sacrificed 2 hours after the last medication, while the ginseng-ACTH, the saline-ACTH, and the normal-ACTH subgroups received ACTH (0.1 unit/subject) 1 hour after the last medication and were sacrificed after 1 more hour. The mandibular gland was measured for RNA and DNA contents using the chemical method of Schmidt-Thanhauser-Schneider. Following results were obtained 1. RNA content of the mandibular gland and RNA/DNA ratio were significantly higher in the ginseng group than they were in the normal and the saline groups. The DNA content was significantly reduced in the ginseng group. 2. Administration of ACTH reduced nucleic acid contents of the mandibular gland. In the ginseng group the rate of decrease ((value of ginseng-ACTH subgroup-value of ginseng subgroup) X 100/value of ginseng subgroup) in RNA and RNA/DNA ratio were more conspicuous than they were in the normal and the saline groups. The rate of decrease in DNA after ACI'II was less conspicuous in the ginseng group. Thus under the influence of ginseng the mandibular glandular RNA content and RNA/DNA ratio increased significantly and DNA content decreased conspicuously while under additional influence of ACTH the rate of decrease was conspicuous in RNA content and RNA/DNA ratio but it was less so in DNA content.

      • 보로노이 다이어그램을 이용한 지문정합 알고리즘

        This paper proposes a matching algorithm using Voronoi diagram for rotation and translation invariant fingerprint identification. The proposed algorithm extracts geometrical structures that are derived from Voronoi diagram of a fingerprint image. Then two features, distances and angles are extracted from the geometrical structures and saved as indexing form for fingerprint matching. This matching algerian has a lower error rate than indexing based methods of old times. 본 논문에서는 검출된 특징점에 대해 보로노이 다이어그램을 사용하여 이동과 회전에 불변인 정합 알고리즘을 제안한다. 보로노이 다이어그램에 의해서 검출되는 각각의 특징점과 그에 인접한 특징점들 사이의 거리와 각도를 데이터베이스에 저장하고 인증을 요청한 지문의 정보를 같은 방법으로 변환 후 데이터베이스 내의 정보들과의 비교를 통해서 결과를 출력한다. 이는 기존의 인덱싱 기반 알고리즘에 비해 더욱 정확한 알고리즘이다.

        류마티스 관절염 환자에서 Conserved T 세포 수용체의 CDR3 motif를 표현하는 제2형 콜라겐 특이 T세포주의 형성과 유지

        Background: To determine the molecular structure of type II collagen-specific T-cell receptors associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods: We generated CII-specific T-cell lines of 8 RA patients by prolonged in vitro culture with bovine CII (bCII) and the immunogenic peptide (256-270) of human CII. The proliferation response towards CII stimulation was measured from the uptake of 3H-thymidine. Changes in the secretion of Th 1 and Th2 cytokines in the culture supernatent were measured by ELISA. The TCR clonotypes of these T-cells were examined by RT-PCR/SSCP analyses of all 22 $V_{\beta}$ chains. Results: T-cells from patients' tissue exhibited strong proliferation index upon CII stimulation, which was maintained up to 6 months in the culture. The secretion of INF-$\gamma$from these T-cells increased along with the duration of culture time, while the amount of IL-4 production did not show significant changes. The SSCP band patterns of patients' T-cells appear as discrete bands unlike the smeary streak produced from normal samples. Some SSCP bands, each representing selected expansion of a TCR containing certain subtype of $V_{\beta}$ peptides, appeared to be identical in more than one patients. Among these, the expansion of SSCP band representing the $V_{\beta}$ 14 CDR3 region persisted after switching the antigen to the immunogenic human peptide (256-270). Conclusion: CII-reactive T-cells expressing distinct CDR3 motifs are selectively expanded in the peripheral blood and synovial fluid of RA patients, and their persistent proliferation upon CII stimulation, as well as the production Th 1-type cytokines, may play pivotal roles in RA pathogenesis.

        분산 멀티미디어 응용을 위한 대규모 고속 통신망에서의 QoS-근거 계층적 도메인간 라우팅 방식

        본 논문에서는 대규모 고속 통신망에서 분산 멀티미디어 응용을 지워하기 위한 효율적인 QoS-근거 계층적 도메인간 라우팅 방식을 제안하고 그 성능을 분석하기 위하여 모의실험을 수행하였다. QoS-근거 라우팅 문제는 다중척도 최단거리 문제로 변형될 수 있으며 이는 NP-complete로 알려져 있다[21, 30]. 제안되는 라우팅 방식은 두 단계로 이루어져 있다. 첫 번째 단P에서 고려중인 통신망을 그래프로 변형한다. 제안된 변형 방법은 기존의 라우팅 방식에서는 완전히 무시되거나 혹은 부분적으로 고려되었던 통신망의 위상도 고려한다. 두 번째 단계에서는 응용이 요구하는 QoS를 만족하는 가용한 경로를 구축된 그래프 상에서 찾기 위하여 원시 노드를 나타내는 vertex로부터 출발하여 깊이우선방식과 비슷하게 탐색하는 경험적 알고리즘이 연결단위로 수행된다. 또한 그래프상의 각 vertex에서 edge를 방문하는 순서를 결정하기 위한 규칙을 제안한다. 이 규칙은 각 QoS 파라미터의 요구되는 QoS 수준에 대한 최소 정규화된 여유도에 근거한다. 제안된 라우팅 방식은 PNNI-형태의 계층적 라우팅 방식을 확장한 것으로 다중척도를 가지는 경로 선택을 구체적으로 언급하였다. In this paper a scalable QoS-based hierarchical inter-domain routing scheme for distributed multimedia applications in a high speed wide area network. The problem of QoS-based routing is formulated as a multicriteria shortest path problem, known as NP-complete[21,30]. Our routing scheme consists of two phases. In Phase 1, two graph construction algorithms are performed to model the network under consideration as a graph. The graph contains a part of the network topology which is completely neglected or partially considered by existing routing schemes, thus maintaining more accurate topology information. In Phase 2, a heuristic call-by-call algorithm is performed for selecting a feasible path efficiently in depth first search-like manner on the graph and tailoring to each application's QoS requirements, beginning at a vertex that represents the source node. In this paper, a simple rule is also produced, by which the visiting order of outgoing edges at each vertex on the graph is determined. The rule is based on each edge's the minimum normalized slackness to the QoS requested. The proposed routing scheme extends the PNNI-type hierarchical routing framework. Note that our routing scheme is one of a few QoS-based hierarchical routing schemes that address explicitly the issue of selecting a path with multiple metrics.
