Construction machinery companies are increasing the required life to improve product competitiveness. Accordingly, hydraulic component companies are also conducting many studies to improve the product life and reliability. However, studies on the wear life prediction method are very insufficient, while fatigue life can be predicted relatively easily based on the S-N curve of the material. Therefore, this paper defined the damage analysis method using PV-T map for each material pair based on the fatigue damage analysis method. In addition, the defined wear damage analysis method was verified by analyzing the wear life of the actual sample CUP data. In the future, it is expected that the reliability of products can be enhanced through the analysis of wear damage analysis to strengthen the competitiveness of products.

The nucleate boiling heat transfer experiments are performed using a ternary refrigerant R407C which is a candidate of alternatives of HCFC 22. The boiling phenomena for R-32, R-125, and R-134a which are the constituent refrigerants of R407C are also investigated to give the foundation of theoretical research for the mixture component boiling. The nucleate boiling heat transfer coefficients of R407C is less than those of HCFC 22 which has the similar physical and transport properties. Since the experimental results show the deterioration of boiling heat transfer coefficients of ternary mixture refrigerants R407C, the boiling heat transfer coefficients of R407C cannot be obtained by the linear combination of boiling heat transfer coefficients from its constituent components R-32, R125, and R134a.

Soybean nodule extract was prepared and tested for the effectiveness in the induction of asymbiotic nitrogen fixation of R. japonicum P-168. A Asymbiotic nitrogenase activity was increased over twice when glutamate was replaced by nodule extract in the induction media. Independently of the induction media, the nitrogenase activity in the assay media was also enhanced by the addition of nodule extract ($100-400{\mu}g$ protein/ml). The amount of ethylene in the assay media reached the highest point after 8 days incubation of R-168 and was decreased thereafter. The growth of R. japonicum R-168 was sensitive to the concentration of nodule extract. As a while, the effect of soybean root extract was not detected both in the induction of nitrogenase activity and in the growth of R. japonicum R-168.

The reciprocal crosses between Large Yorkshire and Landrace were compared for the litter size and litter weight on the basis of the data from 4,250 litters of pigs furrowed at the S. Swine Breeding Farm from January, 1986 to June, 1993. The Y×L cross produced by Landrace darns was significantly heavier than the L×Y cross produced by Large Yorkshire dams by 1.61±0.18 ㎏ for the litter weight at birth and by 5.17±0.64 ㎏ for the litter weight at 3 weeks. The Y×L cross had larger litter size at 3 weeks of age by 0.18±0.09 than the L×Y cross, but the difference between the reciprocal cross was statistically insignificant for the litter size at birth. The superiority of Y×L cross over the L×Y cross in the litter weight at birth was significantly reduced in the 9th parity and later as compared to other parities, which reflected the significant interaction between reciprocal crossing arid parity for this trait. The effect to of parity, year of birth and month of birth were also estimated.

An animal model with the best linear unbiased prediction properties was used to evaluate the genetic trend of a Landrace herd. The Landrace base population was imported from Sweden and has been closed and linebred for 7 generations. The average number of parental animals per generation were 45 gilts and 15 boars and a total of 1,402 pigs were tested for performance. An average inbreeding coefficient of the 7th generation was 6.19%. The animal model used in the study included a complete additive genetic relationship matrix among all the pigs. The phenotypic trends for days to 90 ㎏ (DAYS 90), average daily gain (ADG), feed conversion rate (FCR). and selection index (INDEX) showed a favorable increase except backfat thickness (BF), but the increase was statistically insignificant. However, the genetic trends for the 5 traits were statistically highly significant (P$lt;0.01). The annual genetic gains with corresponding S.E. were .95±.14 days (.62%) for DAYS90, 9.97±1.73g (1.16%) for ADG, .008±.002㎝ (.56%) for BF, .003±.001% (.11%) for FCR, and 1.65±.14 (.95%) for INDEX, respectively. The values in the parentheses are the corresponding ratio of annual genetic change to phenotypic means.
