The surface temperature at the interface of bodies in a sliding contact is one of the most important factors influencing the behavior of machine components. Most surface failure in sliding contact region result from frictional heat generation. So the calculation of the surface temperature at a sliding contact interface has long been an interesting and important subject for tribologist. The surface temperature rise is related contact pressure, sliding speed and material properties and lubrication thickness.

The sliding contact interface of machine components such as bearings, gears frequently operates in lubrication at the inception of sliding failure under high loads, speed and slip. The surface temperature at the interface of bodies in a sliding contact is one of the most important factors influencing the behavior of machine components. Most surface failure in sliding contact region result from frictional heat generation. However, it is difficult to measure temperature rise experimentally. So the calculation of the surface temperature at a sliding contact interface has long been an interesting and important subject for tribologist. The surface temperature rise is related in contact pressure, sliding speed, material properties and lubrication thickness. Though roughness, load, ect all of the condition, are same, film thickness varies with velocity. In this study, surface temperature rise due to frictional heating in lubrication is calculated with various velocities. Surface film shearing and dry solid asperity contact are used to simulate the change of frictional heat in lubricated contact.

낯선 타인의 죽음 이미지 앞에서 : 주형일의 《사진과 죽음》에 대한 비평적 독해

이 글에서는 ‘죽음 사진’이라는 주제로 “죽음의 재현” 문제와 사진이 요청하는“타인의 고통과 죽음에 대한 윤리적 문제”를 사유하는 주형일의 《사진과 죽음》 (2019)을 비평적으로 독해한다. 《사진과 죽음》의 저자는 사진적 재현의 기호학적 속성에서 출발하여 영정 사진, 심령사진, 사회적 죽음 사진에 대한 논의를 거쳐, 대규모 사회적 죽음이라는 재앙의 재현 불가능성과 타인의 죽음 사진을 대하는 윤리적 문제를 논의하고 있다. 이 글에서는 ‘죽음 사진’이라는 사진적 재현을 통한 기억과 윤리적 사유의 필요성에 대한 주형일의 주요 논의를, 벤야민의 체험(Erlebenis)과 경험(Erfahrung) 개념 및 베르그손의 기억 개념, 디디ᐨ위베르만의 이미지 개념 등을 바탕으로 다시 살펴본다. 결론적으로, 죽음 사진을 저자의 입장처럼 “죽음의 재현”이 아니라 흔적으로나마 남은 “삶의 재현”으로 이해해야만, 충격 체험을 커뮤니케이션 가능한 경험으로 번역할 수 있다는 사실을 논의하고자 한다. 그래야만 이미지를 통해 과거 전체를 무의지적으로 기억(Gedächtnis)해 낼 기회를 겨우 가질 수 있다. 죽음을 둘러싼 사진을 통해 우리가 사유할 수 있는 것은 결국 불현듯 떠오르는 ‘나의 죽음’이라는 체험 불가능한 경험이다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 이미지는 의도치 않게 이를 촉발시킬 수 있을지는 몰라도 결코 의도적으로 강요할 수는 없다. This article criticizes Joo Hyungil"s <Photography and Death>(2019) on “the representation of death” and “the ethical problems of seeing others" pain and death” that photography request. Starting from the semiotic characteristics of photographic representation, the author of <Photography and Death> discusses a portrait photograph of the deceased, a psychic photography, and the photography of social death, then continues to the non-representability of catastrophe and the ethical problems dealing with others’ death. I reconsider here the main discussion of Joo Hyung-il"s need for memory and ethical thinking through a photographic representation of “death photography”, based on concepts of Benjamin"s Erlebenis and Erfahrung, Bergson"s mémoire, and Didi-Huberman’s image. In conclusion, I would like to discuss the fact that the impact experience (Erlebenis) can be translated into a communicable experience (Erfahrung) only if the “death photography” is understood as a “representation of life” rather than as a “representation of death” which is the author"s point of view. Only then can we have a chance to involuntarily remember (Gedächtnis) all of the past through images. What we can think through the photography surrounding death is “an unexperienced experience (unerleben Erfahrung)” called “my death” which suddenly comes to mind. Nevertheless, images may involuntarily trigger it but it can never be intentionally forced it.
